Compared to the newer stores, it's a Fire Hazard. It's messy and it only has two working cashier stations so you'll have to wait in line and the Exit Door needs a new location.
I can't believe how crazy the store was. When I walked in people were arguing about the line cuz there was only one line and only one register open. It's so cluttered in this store with very limited inventory. There were a lot of people working in there but only a few were able to be cashiers most of the other staff were stocking the shelves. I need to remind myself not to visit the store again.
BEWARE their return policy on their website & on the receipt is NOT accurate! They tell you you can return or exchange items within 90 days but when you try to return your items before the 90 days with the original receipt they tell you that clothing & shoes are “implied “ & considered season & they cannot return. I spoke to 2 different employees who said I have 90 days. They need to train their employees better & they need to re-write their return policy to include “clothing & shoes” as non returnable after 30 days. This is very misleading to customers & not ok. I work in retail. I have attached photos of their return policy which is directly from their website. Other than that the items are great, cute store & great prices.
Good prices depending what your looking for. Have promotions, but if you use your credit toward a purchase and return the item for a refund or exchange you will not be reimbursed for that credit you used toward that purchase. You will loose it.
It was my first time visiting this store and I have to say that I am quite impressed with the selection of things that the store has. From beauty to kitchenware, to animal food to clothing to outdoor supplies and much more. The only thing I was disappointed about was gift wrapping supplies. I was looking for a roll of wrapping paper and hopes to find some rolls there but ended up finding nothing. Cards that have a decent selection but not wrapping/gift supplies :(. Either way I will visit again because they have other things that are a necessity for cheap!
Such a great vibes at this discount place. Always love the folks cashing me out. Super friendly and just generous of heart. Lots of opportunities built in to help veterans with my purchases
I've been out of the northeast for over a decade but happened to stop in and found some close-out golf shirts for $10 that normally sell for 6X that amount! Just one example of the hidden gems hiding inside Ocean State Job Lots!
The Ocean State Job Lot is where dreams are made. To whomever wrote the one star review about your shirts getting shoved in the bag, go cry your river somewhere else and show some respect for retail workers on a part-time basis. They're clothes, not eggs, sweetheart. It's a not Pier 1 Imports so next time don't go and check yourself Love all the Krazy deals with a "K". Pro-tip: don't forget to utilize the online catalog which has even sweeter deals. I love the wild surprises in the sauce or bev aisle. Try to come here at least once/week.
On November 25, 2024 around 9:40 pm, I visited the Ocean State Job Lot (store #229) on Newport Avenue in Quincy, MA, right before closing to grab Christmas decorations. My mother recently passed away, and I had given all my decorations to my dad to bring some holiday spirit to his home. I was in a rush to restock for my own home, and the team at this store went above and beyond to help me.
Javaughn (forgive me is I totally hacked your name) greeted me immediately and offered assistance. He didn’t just point me in the right direction—he practically became my personal shopper, running around the store with me, grabbing everything I needed, and even bagging it all up. He was incredibly genuine, knowledgeable, and kind during what could have been a stressful trip.
I also want to recognize the woman stocking the Christmas section (I didn’t catch her name). She was friendly and advised me to grab what I wanted now because items were selling fast. That advice helped me make confident choices and splurge a little on decorations to create the festive atmosphere I wanted.
This visit left me feeling cared for and supported, and I’ll definitely be back. Huge thanks to Javaughn (again, my apologies for the incorrect spelling) and the rest of the team!
This Ocean State Job Lot location is shockingly disorganized, with piles of discarded clothing and open cardboard boxes blocking many of the aisles. It's also pretty filthy - everything appears to be coated with a layer of dust (including the food products). They offer an array of packaged food and cheap clothing/accessory items, but lack a good stock of cleaning products and office supplies. However, they sport an incredibly friendly and helpful staff - a rarity I find when visiting other Ocean State Job Lot locations. They always appear crowded, with a small line at each cash register, and I've tried to shop there during regular business hours only to find the front entrance locked up tight, with no explanation.
This location in North Quincy, MA seems rather small & aisles are a bit narrow, so space is limited & therefore probably doesn't carry an abundance of items you might be looking for at bigger OSJL locations. Yet, it's a great neighborhood store to browse & find food, apparel, home improvement, health & beauty, etc. If you have time, browse the food aisles for yummies &:cool new beverages + snacks.

One of my go-to's when in Boston. The prices for what I need e.g. personal prosucts, pool supplies etc. are on point. The prices for items like deodorant, soap, lotion and feminine products are cheaper than at Walmart. Check their health food items and spices for a more affordable price.
Affordable stuff, with occasional nice surprises. A mix of odd lots of expiring quality items and their own house brand cheap merchandise. Great place for many gardening supplies, but supply chain issues and shopping crazes mean some advertised garden items are often sold out or unavailable.
Walmart is cheaper on most things. Clothes are decently priced, variety is garbage but they get an extra star for being one of the few places to sell those soft comfy fleece pajama pants. Cashiers jump into action when lines get long, plenty of parking, good location.
Great place to get good items and if your lucky some great finds. They have deals that sell out quick. So if you see something you want in their weekly flyer get right down there. At Oceanstate they have candy, wrapping paper, detergent, and even some furniture and their products are of a way better quality than alot of merchants for the price.
Reminiscent of the way they used to be, this Job Lot store is small and old but it carries some hard to find items, such as warm winter accessories (fluffy hats, thick gloves and socks), interesting and uncommon household decors, and typical to the chain some gourmet consumables. Worth a quick visit to grab stuff.
Really love OSJL’s for their great prices. Will go here to shop for household items and dry goods pretty regularly. Also a nice spot to peruse for things you didn’t know you needed! Gave this one 4 stars because it’s a bit disorganized and needs a little TLC.
Always the best ! Never have i ever had a bad time. Prices are good , supplies are well stocked. If they are out will do there best t get it in. Employees very , very helpful. So i think we have one of the best in our area
Easy to find. A lot of inventory that was very neat, for a change. Didn't have what I was looking for but the customer service experience was great!! Actually walked the store with me looking for an appropriate substitution. Which we never found and it seemed to bother him more than me... And I traveled 50mins to get there!!!
Look this is a spot where one can schlep around for a possible deal. What I mean is it's a hit or miss, be sure to check dates and such on food type items and quality check on other items...if that matters to you. If not just go buy anyway. This can be a good place to stock up once those quality checks are done, if the price is right & you know a bargain is in hand. Don't be fooled that just because the item is in this store it's automatically discounted - NOT SO - do your due diligence, cause all these stores want our pocket jingle it is choice who it goes to to. Don't you just love a bargain [slogan]?? Well, be sure you do y'all!!!
Love my pillows Sleep feels good àgain. Really could use bigger aisles tho but hey it's packed in there. Unfortunately my boss bought a foot rack with no screws in it
The store is kind of claustrophobic but if you look around you can save some money. I only needed disposable aluminum pans. Got these loaf pans for .27 ea. Also got lasagna pans for .60 ea. I believe round cake pans were only .22 ea. All those items are way more expensive at the supermarket. They also had these rugs for what I thought was a good price.
I went in for a quick visit to buy Stretch Tite plastic wrap, which they sell for less than other stores. It was in stock. I bought it. The staff there are friendly and nice. If I were the manager, I would provide staff with toothbrush and paste, combs and brushes, so that they could wash and get their appearance as nice as their attitudes.
I experienced my first cashier that said "Hi ." before she started. BIG STUFF IN THIS DAY AND AGE! Also if you find something that is of great quality and you love, Buy it up! Might never see again for this great price!
I like the prices here like everyone else. However, this store is so dirty and disorganized. The shelves are always a mess and they reach so high that its difficult to get items above the 3rd shelf. And there are never any associates on the floor to help out. Most of the cashiers are slow, rude, and lazy. But I keep going back for decent products for good prices.
