I excellent service, very personable mechanics. The owner took the time to go over the issues with my car; what needed repair/replacing. Very fair prices; I highly recommend S W A T Auto service!
I would not give any stars at all. My 18 year old daughter brought her car into this auto shop because her car would not go over 20 miles an hour and her check engine light was on. The shop called her the next day on the status of her car and said it needs new coils and spark plugs And the cost would be $1300. Very expensive For a partial tuneup for a Honda Fit 2009. My daughter cannot afford that amount to fix her car so she told them she’s going to take her car back. When she picked up her car, they charged her $150 diagnostic fee and another $150 for looking at her car, Total of $300. Very expensive for plugging it in to a machine to find out the error code 10 minutes worth of work. I called another mechanic shop to find out if this was regular practice to do, And they notified me definitely not. It should’ve only been $150 for a diagnostic fee and that’s it. This was definitely a situation of TAKING ADVANTAGE of a young girl knowing nothing about cars. The owner should be ashamed To be so Unethical.
Steve was very helpful and a great guy. I had a lug nut that was stuck for a few months and I couldn’t get it off but Steve helped me free of charge! Will be going here for any of my car needs, thanks again!
I brought my car in for a state inspection, everything passed except for my license plate which needed to be replaced as it was faded and hard to read so the overall inspection was a “failed.” Stephen and his team walked me through the process of obtaining new plates which I suppose I would have figured out but just having them take the time so show me was the type of customer service you seldom see these days; I greatly appreciated their help and know I will not hesitate to go back to them if services are needed.
Steve is the nicest guy you will ever meet. Thoroughly explains what is needed and why, and tells you upfront what is needed now and what can wait. Had me out of there quickly and with my car running great.
Came here to get my car inspected. Steve and Sainath were respectful of my car, and after putting a new sticker on the windshield, Steve was incredibly thorough in explaining the process and what I needed in order to pass. I came back a week later with the few things I needed replaced/fixed, and Sainath took care of getting the new sticker on. I will definitely be coming back here in the future. I love the staff here
I recently had my vehicle serviced by Stephen. He was determined to find out what the problem was and he did! His determination and fortitude are qualities one would want in a professional. As I waited for my vehicle, he was kind to consider my comfort. As time passed on, he still needed to do diagnostic testing and offered to give me a ride home and he continued to work on my vehicle beyond his closing time. He finished testing, found the culprit and delivered my vehicle to my home on the same day. Needing to have an overdue inspection sticker in the past led me to S.W.A.T., and I am grateful and appreciative for Stephen’s services and would recommend him to friends and family.
Last week before the holiday break came in asked to replace one tire the owner was irate that I wouldn't replace all 4. After his odd comments and behavior he said ok he'll do it. Waited all day next day no call. So I called him he said my vendor is on the other side of New England sorry but you'll have to wait to mid week next week. Really your an auto shop that doesn't have a local tire vendor and it will be over a week for new tire bull. He was mad I only wanted to do one tire and decided not to do the job. All this coincides with previous reviews he truly wants to sell you services you don't need
Drove by and saw one of their mechanics helping a couple of local kids fix their bikes! Always here great things about this place and now I know why!! This employee deserves a raise!!!
They were able to fix my car while keeping open communication during the process, they never did anything without my consent and they took care of several other minor issues at the same time. Steve is also very knowledgeable in his field and I would recommend his services to anyone. On top of it all their rates were extremely reasonable. This is truly unbelievable service by S.W.A.T. who went above and beyond. I highly recommend them to anyone in the area.
Wow, just read about 35 reviews for this place, 8 of them had the same theme. A owner who's a clueless man, trying to slam people into work not needed, no communication before repairs done and horrible technicians who should be at oil change business's. Miss my old place on North Shore. To many customers left exactly the same issue reviews for them to be a coincidence. Don't waste your time or money. SWAT TEAM wants your money whether you need it or not.
Having problems with your car is never a fun experience, but working with these people was an absolute pleasure! I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience and I would rate 6 stars if I could. The owner of the shop and staff and incredibly kind and friendly. They try to save money where they can for you while still giving amazing service. As an EV owner they didn’t groan about it being different which was such a refreshing feeling and they even plugged my car in to charge it over night. The repairs I had to my car weren’t cheap, but I left with a smile on my face because I got the best service I could have ever received. Could not recommend this place more, especially to UML students on North Campus.
Came here for an inspection sticker and was rejected. I was surprised, but thought no biggie since the parts in question were under warranty. When I brought my vehicle in I got another surprise...there is actually nothing wrong with the parts in question. Verified by more than one professional. The diagnostic costs were $150.
I returned to SWAT to get my sticker and an explanation. The girl behind the counter was very sweet and took care of my rejection sticker right away and let me know that the employee that wrongfully rejected me was no longer employed there, which made sense. I still asked to see the owner. When he came in he was all apologies...until I asked to be reimbursed for my unnecessary diagnostic costs. At that point he started talking about how the system of car inspecting is flawed and the particular make and model of my vehicle is difficult to assess and went as far as to bring me under the car to see some play in the part in question, which as far as I could tell didn't exist. I was there for over an hour and the owner told me that even though it "isn't his responsibility" to reimburse me, he absolutely would and he would be contacting whatever higher power at vehicle inspections to get an answer to this question of the "play" allowed for my vehicle to pass. Yeah, I never heard back from him and I never got reimbursed.
At this point, I've heard multiple stories of bad experiences with inspections as a whole from this place. Do yourself a favor and get inspected anywhere else.
Great service, the owner is very hands on. They take time to explain and show you what a vehicle's issue. They helped me immensely when my car's engine blew and I had no space to store the car while I got my warranty sorted out.
Wonderful service wonderful people very fast and proficient feels like a family atmosphere and they do their best to help out where they can I was in and out within less than a half an hour and had good company. I would recommend this business for any repairs or inspection stickers he is not going to rob you like a lot of places that tell you everything that needs to be fixed he will let you know what needs to be fixed right away and what can wait to save your money
These folks are awesome! I called them up for an urgent brake check/repair, and they did their best to accommodate my car’s work in between other appointments/clients the same day. I like that they give you as many details as you want too, and give a thorough breakdown of the cost for each part of the repairs that are needed in case there’s anything that you’d want a second opinion on or a comparison quote.
Either way, I’m really happy with the short turnaround time and I feel that the repairs were fairly priced as compared to other places in the area.
Always a good experience when going here even when there's a problem with my car. They're always helpful and willing to show and explain what is wrong with a car. Only 2 bays, so should call ahead for any big jobs. But they're honest, straight forward and a great repair facility
My car couldn't pass the inspection because the emergency break wasn't working well. Took my car to a well known spot in Tewksbury I paid about $1500. They told me sorry this what we can do. After this my car didnt feel the same when i drove it. It felt as if something was holding the car back. Brought the car to SWAT one of the first things i was told was that they felt something holding the car back it wasn't driving smoothly. So i surprised they noticed it as well. After checking the car they were appalled that a repair shop would give me the car back in such bad condition. SWAT was able to fix the issue quite easily. Now its ready to pass inspection and it runs so smooth. Its very hard to find honest, professional, trust worthy mechanics who also know what their doing. So I'm really happy I found these guys. I'm sticking with them I Highly recommend them.
I came to S.W.A.T. Automotive with the first vehicle I had ever purchased, and they helped me in detail with every aspect needed to get it in road-ready shape. The inspection was in-depth and not too long, they put the new license plates on as well, and then I was on my way.
A few days later, I realized that the muffler of my car, that had been hanging low when I purchased the car, had begun to rattle. I went to S.W.A.T. Automotive to have it checked out, and they bent over backwards to fully identify the issue. They treated my car like a doctor with a patient, fully diagnosing the issue instead of searching for a quick and overpriced fix. At the end of the day, they fixed the muffler instead of telling me to get a costly replacement, and they used strong, lasting materials that were better and more
durable than you would get elsewhere.
I fully recommend S.W.A.T. Automotive. Their knowledge, care, kindness and desire to help the customer save money are priceless in my mind, please go check them out if you need to get your car looked at!
Unfortunately, when it comes to mechanics nowadays, its really hard to find places that don't go out of their way to rip you off but Steve and his team are just different. They are super reliable and trustworthy and I will choose them over any other shop in the area on any given day.
Every time I go there whether it's for state inspection or an oil change, I feel like home. Not to mention that just hanging out with their lovely cat, Buddy, can make your entire day.
I had a really good experience at S.W.A.T. Stephen and employees were very kind to me and helped me a lot. I had taken my car to there for inspection. My car did not pass first but they explained the reasons and helped me to make my car ready. I highly recommend this place and they are very professional and so nice to foreigners. I'm sure that one star is too much to rate this place. The worst place I have ever been to. Yesterday I inspected my car at their place no check engine light nothing wrong with the car at all,and he failed the car for emergency brakes front end and tail brake light. Then he asked me I can give you an estimate how much is it gonna cost to fix these problems. I told him I'm good I'm not gonna fix it here. I went and changed the tail brake light for $1.69 and I took the car to another place to inspect it. The guy told me your car passed inspection and it has nothing wrong S
W.A.T wanted to make some money out of you. They are scams. I feel bad for people who goes and fix their cars at this place. I will never go back there again and I will never recommend this place to someone. I'm sure those people who gave them 5 stars are their relatives. Here is the picture of the second day I inspected with them October 2019 sticker instead of the red R they gave those scamers.

I had multiple issues with my car. These gentlemen took the time to carefully check my car and let me know the full outlook, with enough details to really help me decide how to proceed. I told them they diagnosed my car with as much care as if were a hospital patient! They were more than courteous, and obviously very knowledgeable. Recommended for those who care about knowledge and quality!
S.W.A.T. is bar-none my favorite place to bring my car whenever it's having trouble. It has the feel of a small-town, neighborhood garage because the owner and other employees work hard to cultivate that level of comfort and rapport with their customers. These mechanics are always incredibly caring and helpful, and they charge a great price for their services. I love that I'm putting my money into a place that is locally owned and isn't part of those big-time automotive chains that you always worry will cheat you on price. These guys don't.

I have a dead battery can't start even with jump. So I towed my car here (tow at my own cost) and ask for a repair. The second they still didn't call me back so as a customer I make a call to them. They told me the car is ready they put a new battery and two new keys. I asked for the total price. They told me total $67. When I arrive for pickup, it turns out $690 total.
Why I called this place dishonest is not just about expensive and unreasonable repair but the way they do business. They didn't give me a call about what's wrong with my car, no update, no how much does it cost me. They just bill me blindly without any call ahead. They might think I'm an international student here so I'm a good target to take advantage of. This explains they told me the estimate is $67 but charge me $690 too.
I refused the service when they swipe my credit card and towed my car to Drum Hill Ford. The Ford dealer gave me 5 calls about every step they move and every step costs me. I'm very pleased about how they do business. They replace my battery and key, too plus a full diagnosis with a detailed sheet but only cost me $390. Which is about half of the price SWAT billed.
Avoid dishonest place at all. This kind of business deserved to shut down.
Amazing service, fair prices, and trustworthy interactions on all levels. I came to S.W.A.T. because my car wouldn't start. Thinking it would be a simple starter issue, I brought the vehicle to Steven for repair. Steven and his staff found that the issue ran deeper than the starter and more components would have to be replaced. I was kept up to date at all turns of the process and due to the expensive nature of the repairs, this was a relief, as I could begin to gauge how much I would have to spend.
After the work was done, Steven had kindly done some other maintenance work on the car, such as an oil change and fixing one of my light fixtures at no cost to me because he knew I was extremely strapped for cash and already spent a lot on the necessary repairs.
One thing that really stands out to me about Steven and S.W.A.T. is that they take great pride in their work and strive to make the customer happy, no matter the cost. Steven and one of his staff members repeatedly stayed late after closing hours to help me out or to let me know what work they did on my car. I have been told the advice before that one should always ask to see the used parts in a repair to make sure that the technicians actually did the work -- well, that's never a concern to me when Steven and his team work on my car. Steven actually showed me all the parts that were taken out without prompting. Not only that, he educated me on the process of how my vehicle works, the parts involved, and just put me totally at ease. This quality is so RARE and should not be, but since Steven is one who embodies this amazing quality -- he's got my business as long as he is in business.
I'd also like to mention that at the times when my car was in the shop and I needed a ride to get back there, Steven and his staff have offered to pick me up from my home and get me there. I live about 10 minutes away, but this service alone has me stunned. I can't believe they would go out of their way to help me in such a manner. They are gold to me. I'd recommend them without hesitation. I am so relieved to find an automotive shop that I can trust.
Steve and his team at Swat Automotive are the only people I've trusted with my car for the last 4 years (as long as I've been living in Lowell). Dealership quality repairs and expertise, but at better prices.
Steve himself is a veteran automotive technician, and gladly (and clearly) explains his work both before and after jobs - no mystery here! I know exactly what will be done
Over the years Swat automotive has shown an active interest in my long-term patronage - I know because I'm treated fairly, with respect, and Swat often jumps through hoops to get it done! Recently, for example, they went to bat for me on a (manufactured-)defective piece... Swat got the part replaced, with free labor, and even the labor on some related items that SHOULD be replaced with the project.
When changing out a leaking head-gasket, Swat also recommended and installed a new timing belt -- a $40 part - instead of replacing the old belt, which coolant leaks had compromised. This would have been several (if not many) hundred dollars and more of my time if done separately! I'm glad to have them looking out for my car!
I know when I bring my car to Swat, they are evaluating it as a whole and keeping an eye out for trouble spots, as well as opportunities to realize COST SAVINGS during these projects...

We just moved to Lowell and were in desperate need of a great local shop to take car of our two cars. From their initial inspections for registration through a few major repairs and all the oil changes in between, these guys have been incredible. This is the kind of local shop that the neighborhood kids bring there bikes to for air in there tires and help getting the chain back on; just a great bunch of guys who are passionate about cars and about treating their customers well.
They've gone out of there way to fit in last minute repairs, and accommodate our budgets, even saving us a few hundred dollars on a replacement we'd been told by another shop we needed, but they repaired the parts that were there and had us up-and-running right away.
We're so fortunate to have a shop like this in our neighborhood, but I'd encourage anyone in the area to use these guys for their general repairs. It's absolutely worth the trip.
I had a fantastic experience with this shop. They were able to squeeze me in as soon as I told them that my check engine light went on, and diagnosed the problem very rapidly, within an hour of my pulling into the lot. They gave me options about what to do, explaining what was wrong using metaphors that made sense to someone who knows ~nothing about cars. They gave me cost estimates in advance and were incredibly friendly.
I highly recommend that you go to Swat Automotive. They were awesome.
