Absolutely unacceptable experience.
It took over four hours to get a tow truck — on the side of I-93, no less. Multiple drivers supposedly “got lost,” and every half hour I was told the same line: “We’re 30 minutes out.” That went on for hours. What should’ve been a straightforward roadside tow turned into a miserable, drawn-out ordeal.
****BEWARE OF FRAUD***
As much as it sucks getting your car towed, getting towed by Bostonian is the worst possible outcome. 24 hour towing, but you can only pick up the car during business hours. Do a guy a favor and use B&B towing next time since at least they let you pick up your car any time 24hrs/day
Pickup experience:
I went in, the woman calculates the total to $345, cash only in 2025. There is an ATM there that has a limit of $200, and the minimum towing cost is $210. So conveniently they will always be able to double dip on the ATM transaction, scamming the residents of Cambridge. I say I will go to the bank and ask her to give me the total again. She calculates $345 which I see on the handheld calculator, and asks for $350. When I ask, she threatens me with an additional $50 fee for something else. I guess the $5 was her fee for doing the 5s calculation a second time. I say fine, we agree on $350. I go to the bank, come back, and now she decides to add the $50 which she threatened me with earlier. Luckily I took extra from the bank otherwise I would have been forced to take a second trip.
All in all, very deceptive people. Cash only makes me wonder if they are doing some money laundering or tax evasion. There are very few cash only businesses in 2025. Between the ATM double dipping, cash only, adding extra fees when they said they wouldn't, etc, it is just a very unpleasant experience. Anyway I will be reporting this experience to the city of Cambridge and the State of Massachusetts because I believe there are some protections available to residents of the city/state.

Car was towed in error. Bostonian Towing representative said that if they're told a car is in a tow zone, then it's in a tow zone, and they need not and do not check whether it's true before towing. Representative was also belligerent and initially refused to provide the documentation the police said I was owed. This company has no qualms about weaponizing their incompetence to waste city resources, and they do not care who gets caught in the crossfire.
Why it’s 2, cuz I could not put 0 here. First of all, I only asked the driver to unload my car, cuz my car is drivable, I never let them tow my car, but they insist towing my car and charge towing fee and mileage fee. Also, they never told me the price until they towed my car without my permission, it’s a scam, since if I know the price, I will find another towing company. The price is 600 dollars which is ridiculous.
Stay away from them, since they will tow your car without your permission even though it’s you to call them :) which is absolutely illegal. All the stuff in our company there and camera videos all can prove that, they tow my car without my permission when I get upstairs to get my wallet.
If someone plans to file a small claim court, contact me, we can gather and sue this towing company, esp the rude boss, Ralph loftus.
this business has a ton of negative reviews so i am purposely writing them a good one bc it was 100% NOT my experience. I was in a total-loss accident and my car was towed to BTS. Not having had been through this before, I was figuring out next steps and unsure what to do. Every time I called or visited the location (which I did 3 times) the staff was extremely easy to talk to, work with, and reassuring. Kelly was wonderful. Having my car there was actually one of the easy parts of my awful situation. Even the owner/manager went out of his way to call me knowing my situation and offer advice since I was just in an accident and dealing with insurance. What he was suggesting made total sense and ended up benefiting us both. They were also very sweet in complimenting me because I brought my own drill to get my plates off (haha).

If I could give zero stars, I would. This towing company is the textbook definition of unprofessional. Rude staff, completely unreliable service, and a total lack of accountability. They towed my car from my apartment complex because the guy couldn’t see my parking sticker. Judging by their already embarrassing 1.8 rating, I’m clearly not the first (or the last) person they’ve mistreated. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this joke of a company.
I have towed a few cars with him that I could not AAA, not cheap, but is totally legit, been around for decades, insured, and I would imagine is 100% American tax paying business
I know this guy for over 25 years, he towed by accident damaged VW from NYC back to a body shop in Boston.
Just a normal tow guy, no more no less, it is a tow company, they tow cars, he is no angel, but no a-hole either. It is a not really a charity, being towed for trspass can fel bad, however on the up side, it is 100% american industry
Extremely rude and unprofessional. The staff, especially the man I dealt with, spoke to me in a rude and disrespectful tone throughout. He insisted on towing the car to where he wanted, not where I asked. Refused to tell me the price until I agreed to his terms, and wouldn’t let me see my own car or provide a receipt until I paid. Terrible experience — stay far away.
Locked my friends and I in the tow yard against our will. Dangerous, illegal, unprofessional. Oh, and they damaged my vehicle. Hell is far too good for these people, the absolute scum of the earth.
Called for a tow at 7:30am. Said they'd be right there. Called again at 10. Said they were on their way. Cancelled at 11am. Sounds from these ratings like I might have been lucky to escape.
Don’t recommend to any vendor conducting business or providing service to this business. Be aware that you will not get paid! The owner will never call back and the staff will cover up for him. Awful business
Poor of customer service, they damaged the front of the car, damaged the headlight and broke it, and scratched the car's paint, I will file a lawsuit against them, and I hope all those affected join me and file a class action lawsuit, you can send me an email, thank you
This company put a massive dent in my front bumper when towing my car & lied about the damage claiming it was there when they picked the car up. Luckily a house that had a ring camera where they took my car and captured footage of them hitting my vehicle. Criminal behavior.
Never do business with them! Rude, ignorant, disrespectful, and unprofessional. I was racially profiled due to the color of my skin and recorded as if I was stealing my own property! The owner never spoke a woman did all the talking again very nasty and rude. As far as I’m concerned they need to be put out of business immediately!
These people are complete frauds! When I went to pick up my car I was given 3 different prices 140,245, and 250. Ended up leaving having to pay 260! I’m also in the process of pressing charges! Owner Ralph Loftus Is a complete idiot and he just wants to scam you. I’ve also be racially profiled due to the color and look of my car it was targeted out of the 135 cars parked in the lot.
I had my Tesla stuck in underground parking with no cellular signal to activate the car from the phone. Mr Brennan managed to tow the car to the street level despite very tight space. The customer service lady was very helpful. I highly recommend this tow company. They saved my day.
Beware. I will not be shopping at Fresh Pond anymore because of a horrible experience with this "towing company." This is like a checkpoint in a foreign country.
They will give you a quote and then try to cheat you. If they quote you a per-mile charge for towing, they will lie about the mileage on the invoice. On the other hand, they actually answer the phone, unlike the first 4 results on a search for towing in the Cambridge area.
Recently my car was towed by this company because there was a misunderstanding between the helpdesk team. We have called this guy and asked us to come and I took Uber at 11pm to the place apartment rental place gave and found that place is closed. Then i had to go home and go back to Alewife, Cambridge. The guy demanded I pay cash plus he added all kinds of charges on my bill. Beware of this company.
Please for the love of god go to anyone else but this place. Do yourself a favor. This man/owner is the most unprofessional man I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting. Charged my business partner 800 dollars to have her car towed from Cambridge, MA to Lincoln, RI. This business should not even be an option for Triple A.
The owner said it was 76 miles to Lincoln from Cambridge and its 52 miles. Said he goes by his “tires” because google is “airplane mileage”
Showed up to the car and wouldn’t even try and jump or look at the engine, literally refused and said it was the fuel pump he could tell by sound.
Left us with the vehicle to go get a different truck and had us waiting for literally and hour and a half because he needed to “fuel up”
Was texting while driving multiple times, taking phone calls, put the address in wrong multiple times after it was given multiple times, he also PICKED US UP THEN HAD US DRIVE BACK to his shop so he can grab his “charger” and came out with a brown bag and a charger. Really professional.
He proceeded to tell us about all the vehicles he has, how is wife is a “potato wife” that puts a gps tracker on his vehicle, and about his “beautiful Puerto Rican girlfriend” that he’s secretly had for two years, and a multitude of other unprofessional things.
Missed the exit to the mechanic and was asking us where to go?? Look at the GPS?
Tried telling my business partner who was in literal tears he would cut her a deal by knocking two miles off.
Literal sleazeball. Hope he feels really great about taking that $800 dollars.
Terrible place. Dealt with unprofessional rude and uneducated people who literally said I should have left my two young kids home alone and only come myself to talk to him. Threatened me in front of my kids. This place should just be banned - I’ll wait to observe these people getting sued by many ( I’m going to talk to my lawyer). If by any means you can go to other towing companies, just stay away from this one.
Good company! I had a miscommunication which caused their driver to leave an inoperable vehicle in the wrong location in my repair lot. They were able to have the driver come back, even though I'm almost positive he was already on the highway, and he moved the truck to a different spot!
Helped unlock my box truck I have rented and I just finished driving 10 hours to get here. Came in a reasonable time considering the guys come from home and can be busy. Guy who came was friendly. Appreciate them helping out.
The mechanic I had was so incredibly rude. The first words out of his mouth had attitude and it just got worse. He wanted me to move my car away from the curb and when I asked one clarifying question he seemed irritated and impatient with me. Once I actually began moving my car he immediately started yelling and just wanted to do it himself. If he wanted to spend his days with people that know about cars he should have stayed in the shop. I will not be using this service again.
I can't stress enough how I never want to see this guy again. And I was told he was the owner of the company. No hello, how's it going, nothing. "Let me see your AAA card and your license". I needed 14 minutes for the owner of the car to show up with the spare key. This clown said "Na, I got stuff to do, it's 3pm Friday afternoon". AAA said they have a list of complaints against Bostonian Towing and they would add mine to the complaint list. You couldn't get a more typical, tow truck driver than this clown.
