A secluded walk (December 2023) in the woods of town #191 towards visiting all 351 cities and towns in the state. Parked in the nice lot (space for 6-7 cars) at the end of Risley Road, and walked along all of the trails. No trail markers but small enough place you can easily follow the map.
It's nice until you're walking behind someone's house and everyone is doing yard work and yelling. Much more of a local trail than Audubon. It's not particularly maintained, seems like a pretty old trail. Not worth a detour, nice if you live in the area. The draw might be the bird watching area, the water was beautiful and had lots of wildlife.
Great place for bird spotting. Was lucky enough to see Yellow Crowns Night Herons nesting. Sanctuary is a bit out there (off a residential road) with limited parking.
A nice walk in the woods but not much else. Thankfully this was on our way to some wonderful scenic views a few minutes away. Not really much to this muddy walk. You pass a stagnant pond and walk behind some houses. You never really feel away from civilization. We did see some wild turkeys but not much else.
Really liked this little find. Dress appropriate!This is the woods and it does have ticks. I suggest long socks and a light long sleeve. This area is really cool because birds use this location as a migration stop so you will get to see some beautiful birds and even bunnies!
Its such a quiet, relaxing and peaceful place to observe animals and take a nice stroll. And also just hands down the best place to unite with mother nature.
Incredible veiws...Beautiful Homes.. Several surfers out their catching so 2-3 foot wakes.. Photo opportunities for days..I was their on a rainy overcast day and it was still worth the drive.. I would gladly bring a date to walk the beach.. Awe inspiring to say the least!
This is a nice and small sanctuary. I did not see a lot of wildlife but was able to enjoy my hiking with some small bird chirping. I also saw a turkey family hang out in the woods. The parking lot is not big but enough for the visitors as the turnover is high.
Hidden jewel with limited free parking. Shocked that in the middle of this island of mansions is such a large, natural forest with walking paths and one bench!
It's a small area however the trails are well kept, its quiet, and relaxing to walk around. It also has a small pond with a few benches. Although I didn't see much wildlife I enjoyed the short walk.
Superb, excellent birding spot. Tranquil, teaming with birds. Easy to follow trails not accessible the paths are filled with exposed tree roots and stones. This is a must return again and again.
A nice quiet place full of lots of songs of narrow. Great for those who can't walk far but want to see it all as it only take about 15 minutes to walk the whole place
A great spot for a walk. I went for the first time and will surely visit again. Super for locals. I encourage snyone who cares about our earth to support the Audubon Society ..
Thus place is a little difficult to find, but the trails are well kept, and the wetland ponds are quite peaceful and secluded. Wish there were more benches for sitting and sketching.
This is one of the most active spots for migrating birds along the coast in spring. It makes a perfect day trip by public transportation out of Boston when combined with a visit to the nearby Goldthwaite Reservation.
It will get pretty crowded with birdwatchers by peak spring migration in late April and May.
