My grandmother work as a domestic for the Russell family in Milton and we were pick up by horse in buggy when we visited my grandmother back in the 60's All I can remember is one of the family member watching us playing pool then much later watching the movie glory I heard colonel. Shaw saying he wish he was at Nauson as the battle if Antietam was going on And I said to myself we were there Colonel Shaw used to hang around in Milton at the Forbes house on Milton hill and he cacatiin thee on the island for the Forbes girls
Very pretty but mostly private and owned by the Forbes family who set up a habor in Hadley and a few beaches where you're allowed to anchor and go ashore but they don't allow dogs on their island. Don't go past the signs.
Beautiful. Came in by boat to the only piece of beach that is public, by lighthouse. Horseshoe crab, jelly fish, shells all along the beach. Both dogs and humans enjoyed our day there! Will be back!
