TLDR: good salad, server erratically switched up behavior seeing that her tip wasn’t as high as she wanted, ran after us and threw a checkbook after us angrily. Pay your employees well. People passing through the area shouldn’t be footing the employee pay, especially if they are on a tight budget themselves. What could have been a wonderful experience ended up leaving us completely shocked as we were heading out the door. The sandwiches weren’t as great as we expected- Portabella mushroom and Steak and cheese sandwiches- but the Caesar salad was great! The history of the Inn and the dining environment was pleasant, server was nice during the meal. My husband paid a $52 bill and he left a few dollars and let the server know she can keep it. We had budgeted money for this day trip, and left a tip. I headed out and my husband was already out the door and the woman runs after me and chucks the chequebook on the parlor table as hard as she can and screams “Keep your stupid money I don’t need a tip that small!!”. I was shocked at how angry she was and just stood there. She stormed away into the other room. My husband was just as shocked and we both sat in the car feeling extremely unsettled. Yelling at a customer is one thing, but throwing a chequebook at them, screaming, is unprofessional and frankly not normal behavior. Do better.

This place is a toilet bowl! It looks amazing but the food was terrible, and they DESTROYED, our bill.

Horrible service! What could have been good money and tips since there were 15 of us, we ended leaving because a grown man (Server/employee) threw a fit like a 5 year old and accused our kids of chasing the ducks off the property. Would not even talk or make I contact with any of us. 1 and done!

A wonder in rural Massachusetts. Friendly staff, warm atmosphere, and beautiful scenery. Come try the historic tavern. 5 stars!

Came here after years of wanting to explore the history and building! Barbara is an AMAZING host, she truly makes it feel as if you are staying with a friend. The food is excellent and the history of the Inn is fascinating. We had the place to ourselves in a Thursday and it did not disappoint. We are already making plans to come back!

We went for dinner celebrating our anniversary. Everything was good. Service with a smile. Cozy and unique restaurant. Decorated for Halloween.

Stopped for a bite to eat. The service was way better than any 4 star hotel. The history behind this location is very interesting makes me wanna come back and learn more. Sandwich was delicious. I highly recommend checking this place out. Thanks.

We did not stay overnight, we ate lunch in the pub part of the inn. We have ate here a number of times over the years when we came to the area and I can say it has been consistently good food and service, but the prices are on the high side for pub food. The 7oz cheeseburger was 16.99 and came with a side of fries, multiply that times a few and it becomes a very expensive lunch rather quickly. Food aside the atmosphere is old American which honors its history and heritage of colonial New England charm. The staff are very friendly and willing to go that extra mile so expect great service.

Fabulous old fashioned ambiance , Inn was built in 1737, gorgeous relaxed dining experience. We had the famous meatloaf with mashed potatoes and zucchini squash with onions, plenty to eat and take home.

We had a steak and a chicken dish. Both were very good. The place has a feel of a local spot with home cooked to order. The chicken with apples was excellent as were mashed potatoes. We sat in a dining room but there was also an option of a charming 18th century pub, and a well maintained outdoor area.

Old historic inn with pretty grounds, very friendly staff, but badly in need of a revamp. Is charming, filled with collections of things, but also dingy and dusty. The room I stayed in had some quaint touches but everything was past its prime and it was too full of stuff. It lacked airflow and was a nightmare for someone with allergies. This all would have been okay if not for the insane price per night. Felt like visiting an old grandma or aunt’s house but you have to pay a huge amount to be there.

Started off with an appetizer of mushroom caps then my wife ordered grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and green beans and I had the Yankee pot roast with mashed potatoes and green beans finished off with tiramisu cake and a red velvet cake with whipped cream. Our waitress true was very helpful And attentive to our needs and we thank the owner of Barbara for doing a great job as usual

They accommodated us and our dog a two year old golden retriever. We had a great table out in the lovely yard. The food as excellent.

We discovered this place completely by accident some years ago. We've been back a number of times since. Their service is always professional and friendly. And the food is great, the pot roast (either as an entree or a sandwich) being a favorite.

Food quality/ price (value) rating 7.5. The atmosphere is Early American Colonial Tavern. This place is a time capsule and the epitome of an early American Inn and tavern. A very charming, eclectic step back in time where you'll feel like a highway traveler seeking refuge from the storm. A small, six seat bar, in a charming lounge area welcomes visitors coming in the rear/side entrance. There are two dining rooms, beautifully decorated using classic New England antique fixtures and materials. The owner, Barbara, is typically onsite, and has been operating the inn for more than 20 years. The menu has a nice mix of different foods. I had the New England Chicken, which was delicious, and presented nicely. The wife had the Greek Stuffed Salmon, and stated that it was very good. The bread rolls served appeared to be microwaved, as was the pastry that we were served for dessert, both were kind of disappointing. The Keoke Coffee that I enjoyed was potent, as I like them to be. The staff were a lot of fun, and the other customers were friendly and talkative. The menu prices were different than their website shows, and they really need to be updated to prevent misunderstandings. We certainly had a good time here, and will return.

This place is a hidden gem! The restaurant has an awesome dining room, in the 18th century decor. The menu is spectacular. There is a small quaint tavern where you can enjoy a great meal and great conversation with people, both local and afar. We love this place!

A delicious lunch with good friends! Warm, cozy atmosphere and great service! Everything was homemade and they were happy to accommodate our specifications. The fish and chips were outstanding! The desserts looked yummy but we were too full. We will definitely be back to try dinner!

We went for lunch. Definitely a place to visit once just to explore. Service was ok. My two lunch mates enjoyed their pot roast. I made a bad choice picking fish n chips. Fish (haddock) was tough like shrimp. I would try something else next time.

A most excellent place to have a Thanksgiving dinner that was prepared as if your grandmother made it. The ambience is that of dining in someone's home, a real tavern. The experience was made even better by top shelf service and genuine warmth of the staff.

Neat place, lots of history. Great beers on tap. They had a special of steamers or fried whole bellies. I ordered the fried whole bellies and they were over done, most of the order pretty much burnt. Sent them back. Recieved another order and there were less claims and they were barely fried. Should have just ordered the steamers, LOL. Like I said before, cool place to stop for a bite, but hopefully in the future they can get there fried clams under control. Will be back.

The restaurant interior is colonial, and it is beautifully decorated. The service was prompt, attentive, and friendly on a Sunday afternoon. The food was fine, not particularly memorable. Ordered the Swedish meatballs special and had pie a la mode for dessert. There was a good variety of options. The bread was hot and fresh. Overall, you're here for the atmosphere, which was wonderful. A great stopover spot out of the way in the beautiful Berkshires, especially after fresh snow in the winter.

Absolutely fabulous! Just moved in to the area and love the establishment. We have eaten here once and takeout once with drinks both times. Food is delicious and the servers are personable and take great care. We recommend the pot roast, stuffed peppers (a special), the onion rings, and the awesome coleslaw. We can’t wait to go back!

Been driving by this place for years; always before/after hours and said some day I'll be by when they're open. So cool. Very historic and perfect setting for the area. Kind of off the beaten path but well worth the trip. Menu was quite extensive, offering entrees for dinner or bar food, to suit your mood. The dining room looked very pleasant, great for family or date nite. The bar, albeit rather small is lively and fun. The service was excellent and staff very friendly. The meals were delicious, of ample serving size and very reasonably priced. You'll be telling your friends about this place and planning your next trip to try something different on the menu.

Lovely Fall drive to reach it. A friend and I went for lunch. We parked in back and entered from a long brick walkway into the bar area, then arriving in the dinning room. The aroma of home cooking filled the air, teasing our culinary senses. The quaint Inn posse's the warmth and charm of the 17th century and feels very cozy. Our food was fresh, made from scratch and delicious. The pricing we thought was very fair and the quality excellent. Our experience here was so delightful with the Halloween decorations and ambiance. Even the grounds had been decorated and we're fun. There were tables outside as well. The service was excellent and we had plenty of menu choices. This was our second visit here and we loved it even more than the first time. Great food in a relaxing atmosphere!

Stopped in for dinner after years of passing by before it opened or after it closed. So happy I finally stopped in with my husband and friend what a awesome place the food was delicious and the waitress was so pleasant and made us feel at home. We had the meat pies and stuffed mushrooms all were fantastic. Topped off the meal with a amazing piece of blueberry pie that was incredible.
