It is a great looking camp though. Wish it was safe and trustworthy but it is not.
- why this negative review keeps being taken down, i dont know. It appears quite sketchy in my opinion. the camp is not perfect, no place is, but i would not be sending my children their. best to look other places.
Camp Watitoh is a truly special place where boys and girls come together each summer to grow, learn, and create lifelong memories. Watitoh is more than just a summer camp—it’s a place where kids build character, develop independence, and learn the values of kindness, inclusivity, and respect.
I love the people and the children were extraordinary but the philosophy was very confusing for me to pay people $300 to work 24 hours a day. 6 days a week for the entire summer is reminiscent of indentured servitude or slavery. Also the idea that after your children have been in school all year you ship them away the day after they get out of school and spend one day visiting them. Maybe in the summer as a mother I found very confusing.
You should T go because they are strict they use a different definition for the word “family” then the way you use it they can be hard and the camp can be very uncomfortable for a lot of people.
Perhaps the greatest summers of my life were spent at Camp Watitoh, in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains, gazing at the majestic Center Lake. I wish I could be a kid again so I could go back. Perhaps I will apply for a job so I can spend my summer's there.
This is a special and incredible camp. The owners treat every child as if they are they were there own. I have never encountered two people such as Drew and Britton whom are as passionate, caring, and that are on top of their game as them. You will make one of the best decisions in your childs life if you choose to send them to this special palce.
Camp Watitoh is my children's second home! From the first time we visited five years ago, we felt like it was the right camp for our children..and us. The location is beautiful, nestled in the Berkshires, in Becket, MA. Watitoh is a traditional, co-ed, summer camp, that offers a variety of water and land activities and it is run by friendly, smart, communicative, humble and trustworthy people. Our kids talk about camp throughout the 10 months between summers (10 for 2!!!). Every year upgrades are made to the infrastructure and new activities added; the camp is being take care of! The kids have made friends they will have for life, they look up the the counselors, enjoy the food, the activities, the independence, all that keeps them busy, every day, and they know they are lucky to be "living the dream" every summer, while attending Camp Watitoh!
My 8yr old daughter just returned home from 7 weeks at Camp Watitoh. This was her second year attending and the only tears she shed were for her camp 'sisters' and counselors whom she will miss immensely. She has already let me know that I can have her company for the next 10 months, but she would like to return to Camp Watitoh next summer. She finds it difficult to name a favorite friend, counselor or activity there because she favors them ALL. As a result of attending this camp, she continues to grow in maturity and can no longer be described as shy. I highly recommend Camp Watitoh!!!
What a Great Summer Camp for boys and girls! Reminds me of the camp in the movie Dirty Dancing! All the kids love it here!! In the beautiful Berkshires!
