Harford Transmission did an excellent job of replacing the transmission in my car - giving me rides to and from the shop, keeping me informed about repairs, working to find the best cost for a new transmission, charging me considerably less than another quote that I received from the dealership and above all delaying return of the car to me until they could be absolutely certain that the transmission would work properly. I appreciated their integrity and honesty.

I had a slight vibration in my 2021 Equinox that GM said was a wobble in the front axle shafts. Despite having a published service bulletin acknowledging the defect they refused to rectify the problem. I called Harford County Transmission, they diagnosed the issue, sent me videos of the faulty, replaced them and had my car back to me in one day. They did a great job.

Took my car to these guys because my clutch was sticking and wanted to get a quote to fix it. Charged me $229 to drive it twice. Nothing else. Said a new clutch and hydraulics would fix it. Asked for two quotes one for stock. Clutch and one for a.stage one upgrade. A month goes by and I hear nothing. So I called them spoke to one of the ladies there. Explained I never got my quotes from them. She said the gentleman probably forgot and she would remind him. Another month + has gone by and not a word. I picked these guys because of the rating and reviews. Had high hopes but got ripped off instead.
I had a terrible experience at Harford County Transmissions. They kept my car for an entire month to address an electrical issue, and the communication was dismal. I had to call repeatedly, begging for updates on what was being done.
When I finally got my car back, they had replaced the wrong part and only performed some minor electrical work. They assured me it was drivable, but within just three days, it became worse and completely undrivable again.
I took my car to another shop, and they were shocked at the poor quality of the work done and the time it took this place to even attempt a fix. Save yourself the hassle and take your car somewhere else!
My mechanic who is an exceptional recommended Harford county Transmission since I was having major issues with transmission. I called them explained my problem they scheduled my drop off date. 5 days later I had my jeep back and with a completely rebuilt transmission. Their customer service with their staff in the front office was exceptional. The quality of service and work performed was excellent. The price was good and their reputation precedes them.
I’ve had my Infinity and Silverado in for numerous general maintenance and transmission and transfer case replacement (warranty work) and can’t say enough about the service I have received. It all starts with Carly and Brie, they are friendly , knowledgeable , professional and always answer the phone and return calls when they say they will. The warranty work for transfer case recently was handled by Carly and I know it was challenging. She kept me updated on the process, and I certainly appreciated it. She handled all the phone calls with the company from request to approval. Seamless and easy for myself as a customer. I had been chasing a noise in my car that sounded like a bad bearing - I had replaced everything that rotates (wheel bearings, brakes, CV axles, intermediate shaft, even the tires that were nearing their end of life) and the noise persisted.
I took it to Harford County Transmissions for a transmission diagnosis to see if they could check the transmission for any noise/issues. Chris called me and said that he hated to break the news to me, but one of the bearings I had replaced was bad (or never fixed properly). I told him this was fantastic news considering it's not the transmission that was bad.
The faulty bearing was one that I had pressed into the knuckle by a different shop, who also indicated that the intermediate shaft was bad, sending me down the rabbit hole of repairs. I replaced the old knuckle and bearing with a new OEM- equivalent based on Chris' diagnosis and this fixed the problem.
I think this was great service and an honest report from a shop that works on transmissions.
Really great experience! Carley arranged for the tow for my immobile vehicle and was very warm and empathetic throughout the stressful experience. I heard back in a few days about my vehicle and opted not to get it repaired. They were understanding that I could not arrange to have the vehicle towed immediately and allowed me to keep the car on the lot until the weekend when I could have it towed away. Repair quote was not bad for the nature of the repairs and I will likely go here if my new car needs repairs in the future!
Communication was exceptional! Repairs were finished sooner than estimated. Being a business owner who relies on my vehicle for work the speed in which the repairs were finished and van returned to me was super important. Staff was friendly and easy to work with. Would highly recommend.

They took on my Husbands truck that needed a lot of repairs we were able to drop the truck Off on the weekend with no one there and it was ready to fix come Monday when they opened. Harford County Transmission and Automotive is a great place to take your vehicle. My 2015 Tahoe required a complete re-build. The work was completed in 3 days. Their pricing is more than fair and the quality of their work is exceptional. This is the second vehicle that they have worked on for me and both repairs were perfect. Brandon, the service manager, is very knowledgeable and professional. He is a pleasure to work with.
Two weeks ago, after reading all their reviews and talking to Tasha on the phone twice, I took my car in. They got me diagnosed quickly and gave me multiple options. I chose to have the in-house rebuild by their expert. They got me in, rebuilt, and back on the road within 5 days as promised, even after I asked them to go ahead and do a tune-up including plugs, clean throttle body, mass air flow sensor, and an oil change. Took it in today to have it checked out and verify there were no leaks and activate my warranty. They seemed kind and honest and understand customers needs.
I would recommend Harford County Transmission to anyone. And I have. They have done transmission work for me, as well as general automotive repair. The owner, Chris, is an honest and fair man. Hard to find these days actually. Chris is onsite, and he took the time to listen to and answer all my questions.
My 05 Dodge 3500 4x4 trans went back in May 2016. And I called around and went to a couple place to compare prices. Harford County Trans beat them by a lot. Plus was able to drop it off over quickly and have it back by the end of the week. And it was night and day difference in how the trans made the truck move. The power from just having the trans rebuild like better then new Truck. I had them do a shift kit and a low stall converter with. I had a few issues with it shifting at first but they were able to adjust and my truck work and run great. My truck is a daily driver and work truck, and normally weighs about 9,000 Lbs rolling. And I'm getting 19.5 mpg driving 75 to 80 on the hwy up in the mountains of PA.
