This place was once one of the main center of american steel and iron industry. Starting in late 19th century big time, helped in both world wars. Shipbuilding also played important role here until its closure in 1997. Since 1980s it was struggling though which got even worse with bankruptcy of its owner Bethlehem steel company. However the mill continued until consequences of great recession put a final end to this facility and closed down completely in 2012. Sad. Now it's becoming multi purpose site run by more companies.. but looks like no return of heavy industry...
