Needed a new Retired ID card. Went to the Shipyard Pass and ID office. Parking was sparse, but I got a spot real close.
Went in and told the person at the desk why I was there. They took my cell phone number, said it would be about five minutes and I sat down. The room was almost full, and I thought 'yea, right'.
When I left my house, I expected to be there a while.
Less than one minute later I was at the window getting my new card!
The person helping me was very helpful, courteous and friendly.
All told I was in and out within ten minutes (longest time was waiting for the new card to be printed).

The Shipyard does great work keeping America's sub fleet in top shape. My local Portsmouth Elk's Lodge Veteran's Committee is doing a project to get the young enlisted sailors out of the barracks during their off duty house and doing some fun stuff in the local area. We call it Project LINK (Liberty Investments Nurturing Kinships).
Isn't this a posting about EV chargers? I've plugged in here a number of times. Its a 1772. (a couple of them) but now you cannot get on the Island even if you are a retired employee. Its a good place if you are going to commissary or Base Exchange or even to work (why would you plug in at work? if there are only 3 or 4 stations. these should be used by transitory EVs. )
Very vool shipyard with a lot of history. The Russo-Japanese war treaty was signed on the island and the USS Constitution was built here if I remember correctly
Poor communication and even worse employees/military personnel. I dread having to come to this location for anything, including work. Getting your I.D. pass is as painful as the rest of your experience on this base will be. Avoid altogether.
I have been trying to set up an appointment for my husband and I for almost two weeks now all to no avail. I have spoken to humans, but the response I get is "we can't help you on the phone, you'll have to go online to do that". They gave me this website, Qless website, of which there are many to choose from, and rapids sites for retirees and family members, but I can never find the site to make the appts. HELP!?
This is more of a photo log of just a few of then many beautiful sites to be seen in New Hampshire, I picked the Naval Shipyard as a point to start and add my photos. New Hampshire is such a beautiful state with so many interesting places to see and stop in and relax, not to mention the home of the best lobster roll in America, Beach Plum on Lafayette Rd. I hope you enjoy some of the sites I saw in NH.
They close for the stupidest reasons like even small winter storms, the North isn't used to tiny snow storms? Hmm.. commissary doesn't have a deli or bakery. Bowling is decent. The nex is pretty small compared to other bases.

When I took this photo I was on a boat at the side of Portsmouth Naval Prison. But somehow my photo got the 'title' Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
I can't change it.

Went for a visit to the commissary and medical clinic and loved it. The buildings are beautiful and we'll kept up. Loved the food at the place besides the nex. Good prices every time I visit and the sea air is wonderful.
