Dining beneath the stars in the igloos at Clayhill Farm, surrounded by twinkling lights, was like being in our own personal snowglobe! This is the 3rd anniversary we’ve celebrated this way and continues to be THE most delightful romantic experience - frosting a layer of sparkling beauty on our already meaningful day. Shout out to Heather & Kelly for taking such wonderful care of us, and compliments to the Chef for the delicious, savory meal. Special thanks for the sweet anniversary card and treat! ❤️

I had a reservation for my Wife's birthday which I told them when I called in for the reservation. We had dinner in the igloo outside and it was beautiful. The food tasted good but the portions were on the smaller side. I dont believe it was worth the price you pay for the dish. Our non-alcoholic drinks took about 15 mins to reach the table. The worst part of the night when my Wife ordered desert they didn't bring a candle out with it or even mention it was her birthday. They brought a desert with a candle and made a big entrance for the igloo next to use about 30 mins before. It took a lot of the special out of the night. The highlight of the night was the Valet. He sprinted to get our car since it was cold outside. He was the best person we interacted with at Clay Hill Farms.

Something is happening at Clayhill Farm, whether it be in the kitchen or lack of wait staff. We ordered Shrimp Cocktail, it was just okay, still thawing, but received at a reasonable time. The Caesar Salad arrived 40 minutes after the Shrimp. Our entrees, we waited and waited and finally had to ask if it was coming anytime soon, as everyone around us that came in later, was done and leaving. The waitress delivered it two minutes later (1hour and 55 minutes from our arrival) the Butchers Cut (a special) ordered medium was raw and cold. My Chicken Breast was sub par, but warm. Steak finally arrived back at table 12 minutes later. Was now warm but lacked flavor. Waitress was apologetic and subtracted the butlers cut from our bill, but what a disappointment.

My daughter got salmon which was good. Unfortunately I got the flank steak special. There was a piece of steak from another cut which was exposed and supposed to make my flank steak look good, but the flank steak was terrible. The Boursin mashed potatoes were cold and the vegetable was about 5 green beans. I would try this restaurant again, but would be more discerning in my choice, or send it back.

As fans of the farm-to-table dining concept, we had high hopes for Clay Hills Farm—but unfortunately, it fell short on nearly every front. While the burrata salad was genuinely the highlight of the evening, the rest of the meal left much to be desired. The prime rib, lobster cavatelli, chicken breast, and butcher’s cut all missed the mark, lacking both flavor and finesse. Adding to the underwhelming food was poor service. The server’s assistant in particular was unhelpful and carried a noticeably negative attitude, which detracted from the overall dining experience. The food felt more like banquet fare than a thoughtfully crafted farm-to-table meal. If you're looking for a true farm-to-table experience, I'd recommend dining elsewhere.

I've been here many times and always enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the staff. Saturday night 6 of us dined here. Three were happy with their meals, one salmon, 2 specials: beef cooked to perfection and Cesar salad. Three were unhappy. Four of us got soup ... just Luke warm but it tasted good. The pumpkin soup was a little too thick. Two people got the pork chop. One was undercooked and didn't want to send back. The other person loves pork chops and said it was just o.k. I ordered the duck. It was in the $34 range. When my dish came to the table there was a good size biscuit in the center sitting in a brown gravy. Where was the duck? The duck was shredded in the gravy. Not much duck in the gravy. Very disappointing and expensive. Two people ordered the ice cream Sunday and it was shared. Everyone loved dessert.

This restaurant tries too hard to be unique in its food presentation but misses the mark in taste. Duck bourgonion was a mess of duck cooked to shreds; fish on beet purée looked pretty but hard to know what it added to the fish. Covered in a lemon tart gremalotta which did not enhance flavor. Pricey and just ok.

We were visiting friends when they took us to Clay Hill Farms and it was a fabulous time. The atmosphere is magical with soft lights and live music. I was very impressed with the staff and their knowledge of the menu and how professional they are. I had the Duck and it was wonderful.

*** Dined 1 day ago The service at Clay Hill Farm is excellent as is the experienced bar service—| had one of the best Manhattan's I've ever had and my dinner partner's Mule was also excellent. I wish I could give the food such high praise. My dinner partner ordered a chicken breast, but it came out as if it was a bowl of chicken soup with wide egg noodles. The chicken was swimming in a tasteless broth. Very odd. I had the duck which would have been delicious if it were not overcooked. Interestingly, before I ordered, the waitress noted that the chef liked to serve his duck medium rare and warned me not to order the duck medium for fear it would be tough. I went with her suggestion, but when the entree was served, the duck was well done to the max. The orange rice, a companion to the main course, was a starchy, gluey blob, and the berry coulis was bitter. To say dinner was average is an understatement. As for the atmosphere, it could be charming but needs a serious refresh in its current state.

This restaurant highlights a farm-to-table concept with an emphasis on local ingredients, which I admire and usually enjoy. Sadly, this was one of the most disappointing dinners I have ever had. It truly pains me to write this, as I prefer to support places with such intentions, but honesty feels necessary here. In hindsight, I later came across a review that echoed my own experience, but at the time we were influenced by a lovely couple we met earlier in the day who recommended it highly. I’ll spare the details, but with regret, I would suggest passing on this one.

Clay Hill Farm in Cape Neddick Maine- FAIL Let me preface this review by saying that we have eaten at restaurants all over the world and literally everywhere in this country, everything from old school diners to Michelin star establishments. We love food and the experience of dining out. I would also like to state that both my wife and I have worked in the restaurant industry while in school - myself as a line cook, waiter and host in a few Boston based establishments. All that being said, we rarely have a bad experience. We LOVE eating out. While I have, on two occasions only, sent food back we have never walked out, and walked out before or because we were NEVER SERVED. Bottom line is the service - for whatever reason never explained and kept us in the dark waiting. Simple cocktails took 15 minutes to be served. Appetizers that were ordered never arrived and only after 35 minutes were we informed that they ran out of the shellfish. 60 minutes clicked by, now with me watching the clock (phone- the situation was irreparable by now) before I got up and went to host desk to pay for the two drinks and leave. I asked to speak to the manager- they never arrived and as I waited, our food walked by. They comped the drinks and we left. Quiet and uneventfully, while my blood boiled internally. Never have I, never will I… The evening was rescued when we hopped into Walkers restaurant a mile or so down the road (1A). The food was AMAZING, best duck I have ever had and my wife’s Salmon dish checked all of her boxes. Service was welcoming, prompt and most importantly communicative. We were their guests- as a dining experience should be. Avoid Clay Farm and Run to Walkers !

Came across this restaurant doing a Google search. The restaurant did not disappoint. Classic decor with nostalgic appeal. The food was amazing! It's no wonder why the lobster bisque is award winning. We both bought a quart to take back home. My filet was cooked to medium perfection the way I like it. The cheesy grits were fantastic. Highly recommend! You won't be disappointed

Went out for dinner on Saturday, July 19th. We were impressed with the the location itself; the grounds were beautiful and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was pleasant. The pianist who was also providing live music did a fantastic job. The valet attendant was also very friendly and punctual in getting our car at the end of the evening. Unfortunately, the service was terrible, which appears to be a consistent theme based on previous reviews. We had been seated for over an hour before our waitress brought bread, and it took at least 45 minutes to get our first drink. There were also two different staff assigned to our table, which was confusing when two different checks were brought to our table by the end of the meal. Not sure why the service was so inattentive, especially considering the restaurant itself was not over busy that evening. The food was good, but not great. The drinks were also good, but not great. We did feel the pricing was appropriate for a restaurant by the seacoast in Maine. We would be interested in coming back should the service improve.

Celebrated our 10th anniversary at Clay Hill Farm, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The igloo dining experience was magical—cozy, intimate, and absolutely beautiful. The food was incredible, and the service was top-notch. A huge thank you to our amazing server (I wish I remembered her name!) for going above and beyond to make our night so special. Truly a night to remember!

Lovely setting. Had the prime rib, butter poached lobster and the lobster bisque. The bisque and poached lobster were very good, the prime rib was satisfying

Service is always impeccable and servers are super friendly and accommodating. Food is top notch. Sometimes I'll order the same thing on the same vacation because I just love it! Like butternut squash bisque. And love the music!!

This place needs a makeover. The grounds are beautiful and everyone was nice but the food and the building/design need an update. Very old fashioned and everything needs a coat of paint and an upgrade. Food was hit or miss. Probably would not return.

Incredible meal and best service I’ve had in a very long time! The lobster was so tender and flavorful. The steak was done perfectly. We had enough leftover for 2 steak sandwiches the next day for lunch. Garlic parm fries were yummy too. The restaurant and grounds are beautiful. We even had visitors entertaining us right outside the window by our table.

Had the pleasure to dine here before catching a show at Cliff House. We started with the brussel sprouts which were amazing. My friend had the prime rib cooked to perfection and I had the seared scallops. We had the house special strawberry shortcake and lemon coconut cheese cake for dessert. The meal ŵas timed to perfection and we never felt rushed while still feeling the service was attentive.

I hadn't visited since high school, 20 years ago, and it was a good as ever. The lobster carbonara was incredible. Everyone loved their dishes. Great staff too!

When arriving at Clay Hill it is so beautiful and once seated the food is equally amazing. Our waiter was one of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere, the food, the staff were all a 10/10. We went for our anniversary and I definitely hope to be back.

One of my top choices for places to dine while visiting Ogunquit, Me. We dined there on the 27th of July during Covid-19. The inside seating was well spaced for tables and the outside as well. I had the lazy man's lobster which was a five star rating in itself. The waitstaff was on point here. I recommend this place for dinner. Keep in mind it is off the main road and sometimes the GPS system will tell you, you are there but it is another quarter of a mile up the road. Bring your appetite. You will not be rushed, so enjoy. Addition to last years review. I have been coming to The Clay Hill farm since 1996. I have never been disappointed till my last visit on the 30th of July, 2021. We ate inside but felt like outside since the (flies) had the upper had on our meals and table. I had ordered the Lobster and Shrimp plate. (well three shrimp and some chopped lobster so to speak. My company ordered the chicken dish which looked fantastic but the chicken was very dry. Not sure if it was because of lack of help or food to be served but not a pleasant experience. The photos here are from this visit. Don't get me wrong. I will be back but not to soon.

Clay Hill Farms was absolutely amazing! Set back off the road with very well kept grounds. They had a lady playing the piano for a nice atmosphere! If you go on Fridays they have a special for 2. The special includes soup, dinner, dessert and a bottle of wine. The soup was cream of asparagus, I had the Lemon Haddock for dinner (3 choices), then chocolate cake for dessert. I've had cream of mushroom before but never asparagus, which I really enjoyed. The fish melted in my mouth. The chocolate cake was very rich and delicious. The wine was robert mendavi Woodbridge. I would definitely go back!

We enjoyed a four-star dinner in a private heated igloo outdoors on one of the decks overlooking the farm/garden grounds. It was a beautiful, comfortable setting, and very attentively supported by the waitstaff. Each of us ordered their famed lobster bisque (which is every bit as good as we have been told!!) and a house salad. I had a truly superb seared duck (my favorite duck anywhere!) and she had the scallops and lobster in green curry (with all the capsaicin you'd expect). Both of us--although already thoroughly pleased--couldn't help but elongate the evening a bit more and enjoyed that evening's special crème brûlée: butterscotch, which was done perfectly, bursting with aroma and flavor, but not over-sweet. All in all, it was a magnificent meal and a very enjoyable socially distant setting, making for an evening out which I hope to repeat soon!

I received a friendly greeting and told to follow. I watched as the fellow who led me to my table collided with the bartender:). "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith went through my mind. I was given a bread ? roll to snack on while I waited for my dinner. I had a 10 oz. prime steak ?, cooked medium, with mashed potatoes and green beans. I had apple ? crisp for dessert. Place is pricey. Wifi and outdoor dining available. Facemasks required. Nice looking property, inside and out. Live piano ? playing. Good service and food. Save some money ? first and go for a visit. Plenty of parking. Call first. My hotel made a reservation for me.

Absolutely a must go to for fine dining near OGT or York. This restaurant has the best dining experience. There are several large dining areas, the best in my opinion is the view of the bird sanctuary. Lovely view of the gardens and bird feeders. The bar is also great for cocktails and dinner, offering a closer seat to the piano bar. The staff here are always kind and attentive. They always seem to do whatever is needed to make your experience five stars. The chef rotates specials around local foods, including what is ripe in their own garden. We started with mussels in a Gorgonzola cream sauce that was delicious, I asked for more bread to soak up the sauce and we shared the crab seafood tower. Just a great way to start a fantastic evening. I got a lobster shrimp scampi and misses got the crispy chicken thighs. Both were flavorful and perfectly portioned. For dessert we shared a strawberry rhubarb biscuit dessert that I enjoyed cold but think it would have been better warm. The pianist is a nice touch, they also have other live entertainment during the week. We will definitely be back!!

Clay Hill Farm is a spectacular southern Maine restaurant and wedding venue. Their attention to detail and hospitality is second to none. I've had the fortunate opportunity to photograph weddings at Clay Hill Farm and I'm always impressed by how well they put everything together for couples on their special day. I highly recommend Clay Hill Farm to any couple looking for an outstanding wedding venue!

The restaurant offers an elegant and traditional American dinning atmosphere with live piano music on the weekends. The food is varied with a good selection of sea food and deserts. The service is friendly, courteous and professional. The restaurant also boasts a full bar with seating both inside and outside.
