We were heading down from Maine Friday afternoon at 3:30 PM. We hit a bump and my exhaust started leaking. We called Dan’s auto repair and we were told they were booked for the day but Dan said bring it in so he could look at it. Upon inspection, they noticed my rear leaf spring bracket had snapped. Putting pressure on my exhaust that broke it. Dan ordered the part as they were repairing my exhaust. As soon as the part came in they repaired my leaf spring. I was out of there within one hour! And his bill was more than reasonable. Much less than I would’ve paid down in Massachusetts. I highly recommend Dans Auto Repair for all your auto repairs.
Very impressed with the service, I called in the morning after I dropped my kids off at school to see if I could get my car stickered. I know it was short notice, but they said they had something available immediately so I went in, The front receptionist was very friendly and personable with a nice smile, The owner Dan was also very personable and nice and I had my nine month old son with me and both the receptionist and Dan were friendly and fawning over him and I felt very comfortable. The mechanic who inspected my vehicle was very nice and did a great job, he even offered to put my new plates on my car. I highly recommend Dan’s automotive!!! I haven’t been this impressed with mechanics in a long time! Dan’s automotive made me feel so welcomed and like I wasn’t a burden or bothering them or that they were too busy for me! They had that old school feel like your local town should have! Highly recommend five stars!

Had headlight replaced and a few weeks later had moisture in the assembly. The day time running lights stopped working and noticed the cover off the assembly . Set up appointment to have it looked at but they didn’t get a chance to check it out. A few days later they found the cap off the back of the light assembly and said they didn’t cause the light to fail. They charged me an hour labor for a problem they caused. They don’t stand by their work and I will never go back.
Was a fantastic place for a long time. However this last year seems like they try to get by on bare minimum and charge up the butt for it… there was a few issues but I’ll just share this one. Dropped vehicle off because it was stalling. They changed the oil with regular oil and not synthetic which is what my vehicle takes told me it was fine and would solve the issue.. Well it absolutely did not and if anything made more damage to my vehicle. I’ve been going here for major issues my whole life owning vehicles but unfortunately will not be back.
We recently had an emergency tow situation, and despite being absolutely mobbed, Dan and the team were able to squeeze us in and get us back on the road!

Dan and his guys have been very helpful with my 2007 Dodge 1500. Newest truck I have ever owned, low miles, and not much rust, which is a bigtime score for a used truck in this neck of the woods. Dan was an instructor in our local highschool's automotive vocational program, so he is up to date with all the computer/electronic bs that has inundated our lives in the name of progress. A good mechanic is not expensive, they are priceless..(a quote from the car dr)
My experience is that Dan's provides excellent auto repair while keeping the customer's (read "my") costs low. When my previous repair shop would not inspect my car until I paid $700+ for repairs, I felt it was worthwhile to get a second opinion. A member at church strongly recommended Dan's. At Dan's a part was ordered, put on that very day, and I left the garage with N inspection sticker paying under $100. The courtesy, competence and readiness of all the mechanics at Dan's to put themselves in their customers' shoes has made me one of their greatest fans. I have no problem in highly recommending Dan's to anyone in the Rumford area in need of a good automotive mechanic.
I Called Dans they toke my car right in and by no time is was fixed and they went above and beyond with my exhaust work primed the areas they welded couldn't ask for better customer service ..
Always bringing my vehicle in to get it fix, i take it home after i pay and the problem is still there. In one month i brought it in 4 times payed 2500 dollars and its still not fixed. Best advise find some place else.
They failed me on an inspection (which is fine), when I got home I called and I asked how much a price quote would be for repairs. It's been two weeks now and they still haven't contacted me back (which is not fine, especially after you fail a car, hello I need it to drive?)
Seriously, go somewhere else.
Warning. I bought a car for 7000 they dropped the price to 6000 for me but now I know why. After owning the vehicle for about six months I need to fix the struts and drive shaft. Which is half the price of the vehicle. It's clear they pass things that shouldn't pass inspection and don't fix things that need fixing. Warning don't buy a car from them it's clear they buy from auctions and jack the price up
My mother, my grandmother, and I went here to get my mothers car inspected. They found one thing wrong that had to be fixed before we got the sticker, and they gave us a great deal. I think we found our knew regular auto shop.
