You can check out the videos to see the tide going in one direction, and then when the tide shifts, it goes the other direction back through the bridge.
This isn't just the settler colony of Maine, but this is the ancestral homelands of the Wabanaki Indian Nations also. Pretty place to visit. Before the arrival of the settlers, Wabanaki Indian nations citizens could camp all over down here. Now the settler colony offers no free, public campsites down this peninsula whatsoever. It's shameful.
Best viewed at super low tides, class 5 rapids set up right at the bridge. It's beautiful at any time or tide and worth checking out. The area around has beautiful little coves.
Blue Hill Falls is known for the rare reversing falls created by the tide funneling into the channel. The narrow (20.3 ft wide) Blue Hill Falls Bridge crosses this tidal basin. The bridge was built in 1926. Many people swim, fish, and kayak here. This is a great place to come for sunrise too.
Its a pretty little stop to see but not much parking. Low tide is great because you can walk out on the rocks and see many plant and aquatic creatures.
Great spot for standing wave paddling. Put in is on the Ellsworth side of the bridge. There is limited space for parking and be cautious as drivers tend to err on the side of Andretti speeds around the corner.
