My daughter had her car fixed there. Joe was super professional and her car runs great now. Highly recommend this garage. Her car needed a lot of work and was done in 2 days.

It's been 6 years since my original review, and we're still going to Hardings. Still honest, still dependable, still going above and beyond. Our son was in the PICU in Portland after emergency brain surgery, and when my husband took over sitting with him so I could go home for a night, the car wouldn't start. I had my four other kids with me, and it was dark and cold. Nobody should have even been at Hardings, as it was closed, but Joe recognized my number and picked up. My nerves were shot, and I was in tears. He looked up my roadside assistance number for me because I couldn't find it in my panic, and stayed by the phone until he knew I had a tow coming (then he fixed the car, when it got to him, of course.) They always do a good job fixing issues with our vehicles, but their integrity, decency, and patience is the reason we keep going back. They don't need my review or my recommendation...they are always busy...but people who run a business like they do are just not very common these days, and they deserve recognition.
I was pulled over by police (and very nicely just given a warning) for an expired inspection sticker as I was on my way out of town for seminars and training. I was in classes all day for three days and couldn't take my vehicle in during usual hours but didn't want to test the good graces of the local police by continuing to drive with an expired sticker. I called early in the morning, and they shuffled things around to accommodate me, even though my poor planning wasn't their fault. They inspected my vehicle, showed me exactly what was wrong, gave me a specifically itemized estimate, and had me on the road with a loaner vehicle within about 30 minutes, and I made it to Augusta in time for my class. Both men I spoke to were courteous...actually, just really nice guys. The vehicle was ready when I got there, and the price was exactly what they said it would be. The price was fair, they were honest, and I assume they did a good job, because my brakes aren't grinding anymore☺️. They are a little far from our house, but this is our new garage.
As a side note, I am married, and my husband usually takes our vehicles to be serviced, because on more than one occasion, mechanics have attempted to pull one over on me when I have taken a vehicle in alone. It's disgusting and so cliche, but happens nevertheless. The guys at Harding's made sure I understood what needed done and that I was happy with the price and that I wanted them to do the work. I appreciated that they didn't treat me like I was stupid, and I would feel confident taking my vehicle there myself again.
Harding Garage did a great job replacing my boyfriend steering rack in his 2014 Ford Focus. The price was very reasonable, and the work was high quality. They had his car for five days, and we picked it up on March 26, 2025. We were very happy with the service we received! Thank you, Hardings Garage
These guys are amazing. Actually took the time to ask questions about my truck that broke down, and took the time to diagnose the issue. Reasonable prices, great communication. More shops need to be as personable as these folks.
Very unprofessional!!! went in for inspection and was told by joe the manager that he wasn't going to help me, he's my nephew and because of issues with family he started screaming at me and name calling, issues should have been left at the door, will never go back or recomend them
I can't believe they would refuse to warranty. Something that should last more than 2 years. A ball joint failed after less than 12000 miles. They wanted to charge me another 100 plus dollars to have a new one installed. Absolutely. Terrible, terrible warranty. Service.
Best in the area. Knowledgeable, fast service, trustworthy, and honest. Have used them numerous times for big and small jobs. As do other family and friends.
Friendly customer service, honest, and quality work. I have been using them for over four year for all related service for my 2007 GMC Sierra 3500HD. They may not be the cheapest mechanics out there (I don't really know), but i still believe you get what you pay for and they have always treated me right.
Update for June 2023: still in good standings!!! Truck still doing great. Now I take my 4runner there for service and brake work as well.
I have patronized this fabulous business for 25 years and would never go anywhere else. The employees are SO friendly, efficient, good natured and knowledgeable. Joe makes every visit feel like you are "coming home". Dan is a hands-on owner and very good to his employees as well as customers. Josh is exceptionally talented with his work on all vehicles. The best part is they are honest beyond belief. They do outstanding work each and every time and stand behind everything they do. I always know my cars are well taken care of. One time Dan showed up at my door because he realized they fixed something in my car which did not need to be repaired at that time. I would have never known the difference but they did and they always operate on the right side of integrity. He credited my account for the work which tells you a lot about their ethics. How many business owners would do something like that? It is part of who Hardings Garage is.
The whole exhaust system underneath my car was damaged and practically dragging on the ground. They were able to fix it in less than 1 hour without even having to replace any parts.
My family has been using Harding's for 20+ years. A very rare breed of mechanics due to them actually being honest and caring about their work and keeping vehicles safe!
I like these guys. When i have to being in my truck, they don't just tell me what was rong, they show me. No room for assumption and distrust. No Classic stereotype of oh the guys said this was bad rust but was it really? No. These guys take me in and point to the problem, then discuss the options. I respect that.
I've had my vehicles worked on there for 12 years and they've always done very well by me! Anytime I have work done that will take a day or more they give me a loaner or they cart me around. They have great recovery service to. The folks that work there are very knowledgeable and very down to earth. Daniel and his crew are fantastic!
My family takes our vehicles here for all our service. Joe's customer service and dependability is top-notch. My dad is a Ford Senior Master technician with 40+ years experience, but lives too far away to help me with my cars. He has always validated everything they tell me about my cars' problems. I trust them more than any garage I've ever done business with, and am grateful for the high-caliber service they provide.
These guys are patient and honest. Hard traits to find in a lot of businesses. Discovered these guys after I broke down on the highway. Called them directly and had me picked up and the truck on a lift within an hour. Told me the truth even if it wasn't pretty. Wicked nice people
Honest, trustworthy, fair, great prices, extremely knowledgeable mechanics. These are just a few words to explain how great this place is. I have taken my vehicles here numerous times and its always a great experience. Your visit always starts off with the friendliest customer service from the front desk. No matter what issue you may have they have very knowledgeable staff to take care of your every vehicle need. No job too big for these guys. If it's not broke you wont pay to get it fixed. These guys are honest and straight forward. I took my vehicle in thinking it needed cv axles replaced and they found it to be somthing much less expensive. BEST PLACE IN MAINE FOR VEHICLE REPAIRS!!!
Excellent service and excellent mechanics. They got to me on the highway very quickly. They knew exactly what the problem was and got the part I needed right away. I was explained to, with great detail, what the problem was and what caused it. They treated me with the upmost respect and made sure I was in and out in no time. Very friendly atmosphere.
