editing my review. I won't go into specifics, but the mechanic went above and beyond to fix the issue with my vehicle and the price was fair.
the only complaint I have is the time it took, but, you know that old saying about good vs cheap vs fast...
very satisfied, would return, if I had a spare vehicle to use in the time it took them to sort things out.

Alexandria is not my home, so when the A/C on my ‘Vette died, I had no idea who I could trust to work on it. An online search revealed that Darrell’s had been in business 50 years, I figured it was probably a good bet. They got me back on the road driving an icebox in short order and for an awesome price. Thank you Brother Darrell and all your fantastic techs!
I had a car with a failed engine because it threw a rod into the oil pan and poured all of my oil on the road. I had it towed and serviced at Darrell’s, and I ended up trading it in with a failed engine to a dealership for a new car. This car ended up in a class action lawsuit shortly thereafter. The lawsuit for the vehicle wanted to see the report from my service for proof of the failed engine. Darrell’s had been EXTREMELY vague and put on the report “oil leak. Engine knock. Recommend new engine.” And the lawsuit denied my claim because they said the report said the oil was leaking and they don’t cover oil problems, and after I tried to explain that it was the engine that failed and caused the oil leak, they said they have to go by the report. I called Darrell’s requesting to speak to the person who looked at my car to see if MAYBE they could remember it and adjust their report so it wasn’t so vague and misleading. I spoke with a man who turned out to be the owner who tried to explain how “All cars have wear and tear overtime. The oil sometimes leaks when they get older. If you don’t check your oil level it can cause engine issues overtime. Etc.” and I explained what happened and he kept dismissing my statements. I asked to speak to the man who ACTUALLY LOOKED AT my car and he refused to let me do so. And then I asked if there was any way the mechanic could at least reword his report and the owner said “yeah I can’t do that.” So here I am fighting the lawsuit to prove that my car didn’t have an oil leak beforehand because Darrell’s couldn’t have been the least bit helpful or caring and made their report more specific. Everyone but the owner was very nice and helpful. So as much as I would recommend this place, I can’t get behind the owner who was really unhelpful doesn’t care about any of his customers. I’m glad I didn’t order a new engine from them and pay for that labor to support his business.

We were going to drop off on a Monday for a couple of sensors to be replaced. I spoke to a lady there that said yes, drop it off because they don't do appointments. Okay,I get it.Something came up and I called stating we'll be in Thursday. The same lady said sure,ok. Bring it in and be here Monday morning for the vehicle. Well, as we've ONE car,we had to rent a vehicle for a few days, returning it Monday morning after we retrieve ours. Surprised,we were, to learn the parts were NEVER ORDERED. I suppose the only person there authorized to order parts was the owner,who said he was in Florida. No one could have called me? Or is it they didn't want to bother with my vehicle? It was a huge inconvenience to us, setting us back a bit of cash for the rental. They could do better, especially after a high recommendation from a transmission shop.
I drive an old jeep with over 200k miles on it. I had a lot of trouble with it before I started bringing it to Darrell's. That was several years ago. The only problem I have now is my passenger window fell off the track. I'll take it to him next week. I have no doubt he will fix it better than it was. He always has fair prices and does excellent work. If you are looking for a good and reliable and honest mechanic, I recommend him highly.
My visor broke while I was driving so I stopped into the nearest shop. I explained the issue to David and he quickly did the repair at no cost. I offered to pay but he refused. I had never visited the shop before but I will definitely be back and I’ll refer others to Darrell’s. Thank you, David for your professionalism and your kindness.
I’ve been relying on Darrell’s Automotive for over 25 years, they are honest and reliable as well as knowledgeable in their chosen field. I highly recommend this family business.
First off, I have worked on cars and trucks for about 65 of my 80 years. We live about 50 miles from the Darrell’s Automotive shop so it is not a short, local drive. But that is where I choose to take my vehicles for any major repairs. The first time I dealt with them was on a computer problem on my grandson’s car. No one else would even seriously LOOK at the job much less tackle it. This shop was recommended by a family member who is in the towing business so I gave them a shot. First thing was that they seriously evaluated the problem and, when directly asked, gave plausible arguments for and against repairing the car or buying another later model unit. We chose to repair and that is what they did. It took quite some time to find and repair all the problems but not excessive for the work involved. They were candid about what they were doing and why plus being truthful when they hit a “rough spot” that delayed them. They repaired the vehicle and were not overpriced for the work and time invested. Our second experience with them was with the same vehicle but an unrelated problem. They got it in, repaired it in less time and at a lower price than expected and had the grandson back at work and EMT school in two days, once again at a reasonable price for the labor and parts involved. I greatly admire Darrell, Brother and their father who I met during our first experience.

Words cannot expressed how well I was treated at Darrell's shop. My radiator burst near their garage. Christy immediately went to the back and had a mechanic check the vehicle. Motor was extremely hot. Rusty called the next morning to let me know they needed to replace radiator and monitored the vehicle to see if I had any damage to the motor. Took my vehicle in because it was leaking coolant, they did a pressure check and saw what the problem was. They repaired the problem and showed me what the problem was, they were very honest about what was fixed, best of all, the cost was very reasonable compared to other estimates I had gotten for the same thing....
Great customer service and trustworthy folks here. Good knowledge of vehicles and they take the time to explain what’s going on. Truly care about customer service here which is a great quality in any business but especially in a mechanic. Would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need of car repair.
