I recently took my truck to Mike’s upon the recommendation of a friend. I have a 2014 Ram 1500 that was running rough and missing. Mike promptly and accurately diagnosed the problem and fixed it. It turned out to be a major repair that required replacement of the crankshaft and lifters. Mike kept me informed throughout the process with photos and phone calls. His shop is clean and orderly with everything he needs to get the job done right. It is a family operated business with both his son and daughter working with him. Mike is a master mechanic and a super nice person that can and will get the job done timely and correctly.
He brought my 2020 Ram 2500 Cummins diesel to life!!! The smartest, most Knowledgeable and absolutely the fairest mechanic I have ever done business with!!!!! Properly diagnosed the issue and fixed it better than it was before the issue began.
Last week I was traveling out of town and my car started giving me some issues while passing through Alexandria. I looked for the person that was closest to my location and it was Mike's Auto Repair and Sales. He helped me to find his location and he worked on my vehicle skillfully and efficiently. After repairing my car, he checked it to make sure it was not doing what it was doing before. The rest of my trip my vehicle drove amazing! I am so thankful to have encountered this great place, and I would recommend anyone to go here for any car repair needs!
Has worked on both of my vehicles. Fair prices, quality work, and honest along the way. Stands behind his work and takes on any size job... any make or model. When the dealership wanted to sell me a new motor, he took time to find the actual issue and fixed it in two days.
Called and got what we thought was a good price 600 for AC service, stated he would have us out by the next day. Got a call from him the next day stating he needed to replace another part and ended up costing a little over 1,600 and he left the fender well undone. We also didn’t notice tht until the next day and the wall was ate up.
***To the response, I feel like you already knew you had to flush it (I researched it and it said you must always because this happens) so you gave a great price to bait us in. Tht plus one 400 dollar part shouldn’t go up 1k when you priced us for compressor and condenser tht a 600 dollar labor job BUT thts how much the quote was from the dealership paper he left on the seat (coincidence?). It’s fixed…and I am willing to say it’s Cadillac/Northstar motor. I see nothing was said about the fender wall not being put back up. The clips were still on the floor board. You’re an experienced mechanic so you had a good idea what we were going to pay before it was done. Just my opinion.
I was driving from New Orleans to Denver and the alternator failed in Alexandria. Mike got me up and running in less than 3 hours. The price was also very reasonable. Should my car break down again, I hope it happens in Alexandria.
Most of you don't know or care to know but, I just got back from a 1500 mile round trip to go visit my mother. My daughter Kayla accompanied me on this adventure. Of course as usual nothing went as planned. On the way there I noticed a gas odor. I stopped to get gas. While I was filling it up, it started to go all over the ground. I thought it to be strange but I kept going until it was time to fill up again. Only this time, Most of what I put in went on the ground. So I Googled "mechanics near me". That's when I found Mike. He found the issue... A bolt had come loose to the hardware that holds the gas tank on, causing the fill line to get pulled off since the tank was just kinda hanging there. So I could have lost my gas tank!!! But I had an angel with me apparently. So they fixed it. And I was worried it was going to be very expensive. But to my surprise he only charged me twenty bucks. So I gave him a tip because I was very grateful. And then we continued our journey 3.5 more hours to my Aunt's house in east Louisiana. Only when I got there I went to put more gas, And noticed there was still a small leak. I started fretting over how I was gonna find another mechanic to work on it in time. I was already behind schedule and I needed to get us back home. Just as I was thinking about who to call, Mike texted to check and see how my jeep was doing!!!
Told him what was up and he told me to bring it back on my way home and he would look at it again. After visiting with my family for a couple of hours, We made the trek back over to Alexandria to Mike's shop. There was a small thing that still needed an adjustment. He took care of that. Even went with me to the gas station with me to make sure. AND Checked on me again after I made it home. Guys,this has to be one of the best mechanics I have ever met in my life! We need more people like this in the world. He showed me what he was doing, explained everything. Didn't make me feel stupid, and didn't overcharge me.

I recently had some auto repair work done on a family member’s SUV by Mike and was pleased with the outcome. He has been a mechanic for a long time. I trusted his advice on what were needed repairs versus other items that were recommended by another auto repair shop that we not needed anytime soon, if at all. Mike took time to explain in detail the issues with the front end or suspension system that was in need of repair. His shop is a little hard to find but it’s worth the effort because he is an old school trustworthy mechanic who, along with his son, did a great job!
Our truck has had an overheating problem while we tow our camper. We've had it checked out at 3 different dealerships, and they all say there is nothing mechanically wrong with it. We brought it to Mike, and within a day he changed the radiator and thermostat, and now the truck runs beautifully. We were also pleasantly surprised with how reasonable his prices were. If we lived here in town, Mike would definitely be our go to mechanic.
I am Solo traveling from Ga to LA and then to Calif. I hit an ice chest on the hwy which tore up my skid plate. (It is the Monday after Memorial day) I have never been to Alexandria La and was really close to tears. I googled for an auto repair shop and found Mike's. He was so sweet told me to drive safe and bring it right over. Which I did.
Mike took no time at all, stopping whatever he was working on and put my car on the jack.After explaining everything, he threw some bolts back into the skid plate good as newish. I asked him how much and he said NO CHARGE just drive safe.
I am so blessed to have found this man and his shop on a long weekend, and for him to just drop everything and get me back on the road in about 30 minutes. People! There are many amazing people in this world and Mike is one of them.
Mike was a huge blessing to us. We traveled 400 miles from San Antonio with a loaded trailer. When we arrived we noticed there was oil on the tailgate of our truck. We checked the oil and it was 4.5 quarts low. We filled it back up but was blessed to find Mike on google He told us to come over and was such a pleasant man. He lifted our truck up and found we had a leak in the oil filter. He then takes time to drive us to O’Rielys to purchase the filter. Then returns and installs it for us and checks to be sure everything is fine. Mike not only knows how to diagnose and fix a vehicle but he’s truly honest and fair. We will definitely use his services every time we are in need of auto repair or service.
Mike is A1. As a lady I was looking to find someone who would repair my car and charge me a fair price. Mike was able to fix my car in one day with no hassling like I got from other mechanics in the area. I’m extremely happy with the service I received. If I need any work in future I’m calling Mike! Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Mike really saved us when we had an emergency situation!! A piece of another car’s flat tire hit our bumper on the freeway, causing the bumper to semi-detach and drag on the ground. Even though his shop was not open on Sunday, he completely went out of his way to help us out!! He quickly came to our location (after we sent him photos for assessment), and detached our bumper so we could complete our road trip. He also made sure other pieces were tied in place, so we wouldn’t have any further issues. On top of that, he is extremely friendly and the cost was so reasonable! THANK YOU, MIKE!!
I was traveling from Zachary Louisiana on business. When I arrived at my hotel I heard a ticking sound coming from my engine. The manager of the Hotel informed me to take it to Mike's Auto Repair. Said he was the best in town. Luckily I was less than a few minutes away. I called the shop and Mike answered and met me there. Looked at my truck immediately. Turned out to be major engine problems (Cam Shaft and Lifters). Had to leave town after a few days. I drove back to Alexandria 10pm at night to pick up my truck. He met me at the shop saving me the trouble of having to get a hotel again. I drove the truck back two hours. Drives like brand new. Quality work, great service!
If I lived in Alexandria I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. We were driving through on Sunday when we developed car trouble. Mike took time out of his day off to help us. He quickly diagnosed a frozen u-joint in drive shaft. Unable to get part on Sunday so Mike drove us to a motel and patiently waited while we got a room. Mike also told us where we could rent a car. The part arrived on Tuesday and work was done by noon. I noticed humming sound at high speed, returned to Mike's and he accurately diagnosed a failing wheel bearing, ordered the parts and replaced it on the spot while we waited. Good prices, excellent workmanship, and goes out of his way to help.
I am an out of towner here for work and didn't know where to go to get my car fixed in Alexandria. I found Mike's Auto Repair and sales. Mike exceeded my expectations! He was polite and very reasonable priced. He got the job done much quicker than I anticipated, he even dropped my car off to me at work on his lunch break. I would definitely go to him again. I would recommend him to anyone in this area.
I went to mikes to change sparkplugs on my engine. Every other mechanic i talked to gave me a price way above his and also said that it would be atleast a week before i would get it back. I even had one mechanic refuse to work on it because of the bad reputation the engine had with plugs coming apart in the engine head. When i talked with mike about it he had no problem doing it at a cheaper price. He had the job done only 3 hours after i dropped it off and its running with no problems. Mike's is by far the best shop in Rapides. If you are anywhere near his shop and you need the job down quick, professionally, and for an amazing price, then go see him or give him a call.
I was told at the dealer an amount to fix my alternator and would have to wait on part to come in. Mike had it fixed the next business day at less than half the cost from Honda dealership. I feel he was a very honest man and didn't take advantage just because I am a senior woman.
I cannot rave enough about Mike Robinson! My insurance company referred me to him when my vehicle broke down. I drive an older model SUV and was over an hour from home and worried about someone trying to take advantage of the situation. Mike was polite and friendly. He paused what he was doing to look at my vehicle, thus determining whether or not I would be able to drive it home that day. He answered every question I had, which was a lot. He patiently walked me through his process so I could understand what was going on with the car. Turns out a fuse had blown, he fixed it QUICKLY and sent me on my way, but not without giving me his number should something happen. Less than a mile down the road, it happened again. Mike came out to where I was (NEVER HAPPENS WITH ANYONE ELSE) and took my car back himself. He called a couple hours later with pictures of what the real problem was. When I returned, he showed me in person and explained how and why it had happened. He fixed it quickly but made sure that it was done in a way that the same problem would not arise again. He took amazing care of me in a desperate situation. To say that Mike Robinson is an honest, fair and kind man would be an understatement. He's genuine and he was a Godsend to me. I may live over an hour away from this man's shop, but I will never use another mechanic. I am so thankful to him.
This man is honest & trustworthy. He took care of my car & was reasonable & timely in his repairs. The only mechanic I will ever bring my car for any problems. I am grateful as he also helped my grandaughter 2 years ago from Texas when she broke down here.he was the only one that would help her. .thanks to Mike.
I was told by another shop that my vehicle needed a whole engine. ($12,000) I took it to Mike and he listened to my engine and said no, I dont think so. I think it is the timing belt. Sure enough, he called the next day. My car was fixed without changing the engine. Praise God for sending Mike to my attention. It made a huge difference.
Me and a few friends were on a road trip to New Orleans when I blew my engine just a few miles outside of Alexandria,LA. We had a tow truck take us to Mikes auto shop on a Sunday when all other shops were closed. He gave me a good deal on a new motor and had us back in the road on the date and time he said he would. He even went out of his way to pick up me and my friends at the motel we stayed at while he worked on my vehicle. I must say if you are having any car trouble in the area this would be the man to go to.
Best mechanic hands down. This man picked my son car up on April 1st, found a motor, took his old motor out, put the new motor in serviced that motor replaced seals along with doing a complete brake job all within 8 days. If you want a honest mechanic that provides excellent service in a timely manner get with Mr. Mike...he is the best!
