I don't post reviews unless I'm really moved one way or another. That being said, the experience I've had with this shop makes it hard for me to sleep at night. Phil, the owner is nothing but a smooth talking liar. His shop represents the LOWEST of customer service, workmanship, and quality.
3 months ago, as an otr driver, I broke down less than a mile from his shop. After talking to Phil, I thought I had arrived at a decent place. I couldn't have been more wrong as thats when the nightmare began.
Was told a week or less for the job so I rented a truck to transload my freight in hopes to make a few bucks while the shop had my truck. Worst move ever was to remove myself from the scene as that allowed him to really play games with timing.
2 MONTHS later, yes 2 MONTHS, I got the truck back. Made it 2 hrs away and broke down. He towed the truck back. 2 weeks later, I go get it again. Subsequently, I've had numerous roadside occurrences attributed to his shop and each time he wanted be to bring it back to Livonia to avoid paying the shops I found myself at. I got tired and finally went to a reputable shop and they laughed at what Phil told me, with a straight face, he did. At that point my feelings toward Phil went from no respect and just ready to move on, to down right disgust and dislike.
If you find yourself at a disadvantage in the middle of nowhere (Livonia), the best thing you can do is take a breath, call a $700 tow from Port Allen, and head to a more reputable city such as Baton Rouge for decent service. Otherwise, you will be at a severe disadvantage. Thank me later. Read the past reviews. Where there's smoke, there's indeed fire......
Don't look for "customer service" here, there's none to be found. They're a business for money and that's all.
If you want to retrieve your stuff from them, they list falsified hours on Google, tell you to find the right website (they don't have one, at least not public-facing) to get their "real hours," and then charge you money "per the state police regulations" to come and get it.
They're not open on Sundays.
They will, however, tow a car.
Phil the owner is a great man and gave me a great deal. Tony is the best tow truck driver I’ve ever met. Ricky is a great mechanic. Overall great company
Phil is a thief he told my friend he could have her transmission rebuilt charges her 2000 transmission was taken apart and never rebuilt and three back together cut her lines dip sick her a real poor hope he knows karma is gonna get him he's a thief
Wow!!! Phil seems nice but don’t be fooled! Came to the shop needing my water pump fix around 1130am, n he told me my part from Freightliners was on back order but he claimed he had the part on one of his older truck, I advised this around 4pm, so I was like cool let’s do that so I can get rolling! Come 6pm still no one is working on my truck!!! Then I notice guy begins to work on it n I asked him when will he be done since I’ve been here since 11:30am an he tells me that he is just a after hours guy n never did this type of repairs…so around 9pm I decided to leave with out being rip off more!!! Just saying be careful!!!
Was traveling by myself on a Sunday on Mothers Day and had a tire separate on me. Didn't know what to do cause everything was closed. Found them on line and called and he said come on, we'll take care of you And they did! Changed my tired, didn't charge hardly anything & got me back on the road within minutes. Thank you so much!!!
Not good the tow truck driver ran me and me 6 year old daughter off the road and then act like he wanted to fight but when I pulled over at the stop sign her just wanted to talk better be lucky that I’ve humbled myself!!!
I had a flat tire last night on Hwy 190 just near the construction. Ford Roadside assistance was absolutely no help. My husband who was trying to call people for me while he was at work , called Hoffmans. They told him it would be about an hour and they would send someone. Thank you to the young guy that came and got my tire changed! He was very nice and courteous. He told me who he is was, because since it was dark I was very apprehensive sitting on the side of the road! Your help was greatly appreciated and the cost was beyond reasonable! Thank you so much!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! My 20 year old college student, had to use Hoffman's towing service Sunday evening to have his truck towed 45 minutes to a tire shop. Cody Day was the driver who refused to give him a cost before he towed his truck. Once he loaded the truck, he informed him the cost would be $325!!! I was blown away...THREE HUNDRED TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS for a 40 minute tow???!!! And he could only pay IN CASH!! Are you serious? I contacted the owner of the company, Phil Hoffman about the charges and he said, "The cost of a tow is $185, maybe $200 if my driver is bringing your son a tire, but anything over that is excessive." As he is talking to me, someone he was near reminded him that HE quoted the price of $325 and that is why Cody charged that amount. Phil asked me to call him back Monday, to discuss the charge further. I called him Monday. No answer and voicemail was full. I called 3 times today before I got an answer. When he answered, he justified the $325 charge. His explanation to me was, "It was a very busy Sunday, and I didn't understand where your son's truck was being towed, I just gave him a price." (He thought it was towed from Krotz Springs to Lafayette). I explained to him I know why my son was price gauged, because it was a big college football weekend, and his company knew these students had to have their vehicles, thus he was just quoting whatever price came to mind. Basically, we paid excessively for your service, because we HAD TO HAVE IT, but we have no recourse. Again, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Tow truck driver picked us up really quickly after our roadside assistance booked them (under 15 minutes) and the driver was so nice and helpful. We blew a tire and were debating where to have it towed. He offered to try and see if he had a tire back at the shop that would work. They did have a tire that worked and it was very reasonable. It took forever, but that’s kind of part of the deal with car stuff when you get stuck. He definitely made sure we were taken care of and went above and beyond. We got back on the road that same night vs the next day if we’d have been towed to another tire shop. Appreciated the service!
we sat here for a WEEK waiting on our van to get fixed after they said they would help us fix it so we can get back on the road to a funeral. the boss was unacceptably rude and we saw him numerous so times drinking on the job. a few of the employees helped us but could only help for a few minutes before having to go back to working on the good many other semi trucks and cars that they impound. we had no where else to go so we slept in the van with our dogs. i hope i don’t break down in louisiana again to have to deal with service like theirs.
Truck broke down 600 miles from home. Whole staff was helpful and repaired my DEF system quickly. I recommend them to everyone in and out of state. Can’t give enough stars.
Phil and Tommy got me back on the road with a new drive shaft in a day. It would have been impossible for that to happen in that area without Phil’s extensive knowledge and network of suppliers. . He went above and beyond. Other shops in the area were saying it would be Monday because they would have to send it off. Witch would have cost towing, 4 nights in a hotel and lost freight as it was Thursday.
The owner is nice. They did great work. They kept working on our truck til they figured out what was wrong. It was fixed. Actually fixed everything they could this time. We will be back.
EVERYTHING was STOLEN from bed of my truck that was there. When asked and brought up to an "employee" who works there till "9 pm alone" he knows nothing. So I'd say some "employee" stole my stuff and cleaned out my toolbox.
Let’s start by sharing my story with this company first I call for a road service I was told was going to be 45 min I agree with the time frame, then 2.5 hours later no one has gotten to my truck took another 35 minutes for their mechanic to show up after a 1.5 of troubleshooting I was told truck need to be towed to the shop I just told them to charge me for their time and I went out to get the truck ! All the way from Houston the company pay the bill and now we still waiting on a invoice for the work smh poor professionalism and punctuality
They are irresponsible, they do not assume their bad work or pay the money they owe. They offer guarantees for which they do not assume afterwards. I do not recommend it to anyone.
Not only is this business terrible but their owner operator is a drunk and a liar. I spent 5 hours roadside waiting for him to get parts only for him to send a kid with a good heart, no tools, and no parts. It was then revealed that despite me telling him 3 times where I was, exactly 4.6 miles from his business that he thought I was 30 miles away. If you need roadside service call a real service out of Baton Rouge if you happen to be on Highway 190 like me. Terrible customer service and near fraudulent in their representation.
Great work reasonable prices the owner (Phil Hoffman) is willing to go the extra mile to make sure the repairs are done right hotel is in walking distance if needed
He works on all kinds of diesels. Does a great job. Union Pacific brings all their trucks here for their office here in baton rouge. Man knows his stuff.
