Today was horrible, 1 hour plus wait with one truck unloading so much different junk, meanwhile all I had was cans in a small car yet had to wait so long the Ac in my car went out. They need to do better and have two outlets for when this occurs
Hours say you're open yet you turned away customers. Do like the rest, say you close at 11:30. That way the employees are gone by 12. Instead of saying you close at 12 but turn away customers at 11:30. Bad business ethics. I would not recommend.
I wouldn't consider myself a scraper but I've been about two dozen times in the last two and a half months. The staff was great. The person at the scale is very reasonable when comes to splitting a load so you don't have to go threw twice. Crane operators know what their doing. Highly recommended. I won't go anywhere else.
Well if you're a plumber for a living good luck scraping your metal they make it difficult to say the least for the honest working man,if you stop in your companys truck on your way home they refuse to help you,they send you away like a criminal,then they call your company to try to get you in trouble ,or fired,when you did nothing wrong.unacceptable treatment to licensed plumbers,our boss let's us keep what we replaced with new piping but no one will but my scrap.do not recommend these folks who made my day suck and my transaction impossible,thanks for a hard time!!!!!!!!......!!!!
Use to come 5-10 times a week but will be using the one down the road moving forward. Just was informed that they fired someone because my husband gave $5 for the guy that works the gate for his toddlers piggy bank (whom we know) and just discovered he was fired due to it!!!! What a way to treat a veteran. Most people come in there to get money for drugs but got forbid someone give a couple dollars to a 2 year old!!!
I was very impressed with the courteous workers, and the organization of the scrapyard! I would definitely recommend if you ever need to get rid of scrap laying around your house to go to here and they will direct you in the right way to get paid for scrapping, your metal, copper, batteries, etc.
Today is only the second time I've been to EMR. I meet nine different employees and they where all very friendly and took the time to explain the process and made sure to send me in the right direction. I will definitely be doing my business here and no where else from this day forward. If you ask me they deserve more stars...

I love going here with my recycling. However after my experience today with the Farris manager named Steve it made me re think how I feel about going back there to do my recycling. Truck full of women (who didn't load any of the scrap due to the weight) with a 200lb filing cabinet and 200lbs of iron pull through the yard all goes good on the scale, it is what comes next that upset me the most. Said manager informs me he can't unload the truck using the crain, I am understanding knowing that if anything would happen they would be responsible, I then politely ask him if he could please help us push the cabinet and iron out of the truck. He refused, then he proceeded to stare at mine and my sister's A$$ and make derogatory comments about us all while talking to someone upfront stating that we were harassing him. This has been by far the worst experience I have ever had with EMR ever!! Super disappointed, Steve deserves an award for being the most rude person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
They offer good prices for your scrap metal and they are one of the nicest facilities for your junk or scrap needs. It was kind of cool watching them unload our metal with "the claaaw".
Well as the world knows the market had seen its lowest of lows in years, but thanks to EMR RECYCLING CENTER being the number one leader in the scrap industry their prices are better then most ! I got my nickname from all my friends almost 15 years ago now, SOUTHERN GIRL , the business previously named SOUTHERN RECYCLING, now EMR RECYCLING! Fast set up, new scales calibrated frequently, well experienced crew , and honest ! Today’s industrial production of steel is needing our help to insure the future of our state and the world that when u recycle everyone wins!! Take it from me the one place to bring all your ferrous and non ferrous and a list of other items they now will except is EMR RECYCLING AND GET PAID FOR DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!! Recycling saves lives!
By far the best prices in lake Charles. The other scrap yard tried to rip me off and tell me not to go the southern Scrap. But southern Scrap had better pricing and even gave me a little more because of my weight. Service was great as well. Clean and fast.
I cleared out the garage of bags of old cans. Price per pound different on the phone from when they go to pay, which they don't verify with you until after you've dumped everything. They also did a.deduction, 25%, for "moisture." Apparently dried out, old cans stored in a garage are 25% water. Yet again, you don't find this out until after you've dumped everything and ripped your bags since they must be opened. What are you going to do, demand they empty the barrels into your trunk or back seat? They meed to be more upfront and honest.
No need in cleaning your aluminum when coming to this place! They quoted me 53cents a pound, I cleaned a whole trailer load of aluminium, when they took all the aluminium off and told me they were only paying 35 cents because it had a couple of aluminium screens in it! Come on that's aluminium, then they wouldn't let me take it out! What a place!
