Charles went above and beyond at O’Reilly in Ankeny today. He helped me with the Veriscan to get me the information necessary to figure out what was going on with my vehicle. Always a good experience at O'Reilly auto parts store. They usually have the part I need in stock or can locate one at a nearby store for me. I work on a lot of cars for charity reasons and need parts that won't involve me in a " come back" situation. They have a better grade of in house parts than the other chain stores. I also recycle my oil here and they are always pleasant and accommodating. Some parts for the more bizzare jobs need to be OEM, but for everything else ,these are my go to guys.
I went to get windshield wipers and asked the worker what kind I need for my car. The employee brought me to windshield wipers and said I can choose any, they will all work. I bought a pair, brought them home for them to not be compatible with my vehicle. Ended up going to Ames O’Reilly to exchange them, immediately the lady helped me get the right ones and installed them for me. Ankeny has nice employees but don’t expect them to help you find the correct parts.
Frank performed exceptionally well and was very friendly, going the extra mile to help me get back on the road by assisting me in installing the necessary parts for safe driving. He even taught me how to do it correctly on my own next time, avoiding the mistakes I made previously. I truly prefer this store over all the others because the staff genuinely takes the time to ensure you can drive safely again.
Frank at the Ankeny store has outstanding customer service! I went in for a new headlight bulb and he installed it. He also noticed basic fluids that were low and helped me with them. Highly recommend supporting this business!
They have the best customer service! I went to get new windshield wipers and when I asked how to put them on, the gentleman did it for me and showed me how for next time. He also spent time answering my other questions. It was so helpful! I will definitely come back again.
Shout out for great service! Came in for bulbs after a headlight went out. The manager working helped me pick out the right model and after I couldn't get them installed, he came out and put them in himself!
Jay helped me out today with my car and was super helpful and efficient!
Edited to add: its now July of 2025 and had another great experience today! I believe the man's name was JD that helped us out with our car and was super nice!
This place is conveniently located, but its a coin toss whether you get an employee that is knowledgeable or the guy I had yesterday, he tried to tell me there wasn't a gasket between 2 metal parts on my engine. Now I have to go back again today to get it. Seems like they have a high turnover rate there.
Matthew was great, he helped me find a new car battery and explained the differences between liquid and gel batteries. He even saw my DMACC Student sticker in my windshield and was able to get me a student discount which was super nice and unexpected but appreciated. He went out into the cold and put in my new battery for me and made sure everything was working good before he sent me on my way. Very appreciative of the services O’Reilly’s offers.
Found the part I needed at a fair price, a shorter replacement antennae for my Dodge Dakota that doesn't get thrashed in automatic car washes. Friendly staff.

I've had great experiences at this store. We've been here a couple times and one of the workers here, Rigo, has always done a stand up job and goes above and beyond. Somebody give this man a raise!
My experience was really good I got my core deposit back and I talked to a couple of the guys there about some cars and different programs that you can get into to help you pay for college to be like mechanic or something so that was really cool conversation
It's a great car parts place, and they usually have a bit better prices than the other car parts chains. They are generally well-stocked, and if they don't have an item, they can get it in a day or two. They also have a convenient place to return used oil.
At the ankeny ia Oriellys. The employee names rigo was a huge help, and he ansewred question. That I needed answers and was very polite. He has a kind and respectful attitude towards customers. And he is easy to get along with. I would definitly recommend having him help you!!. He's an amazing employee
The Assistant Manager, Kelley, was very professional, courteous and helpful. She helped me pick out the parts needed and assisted with installation. It was good to see a woman behind the counter, I did not feel intimidated.
Employees do NOT know how to find parts always saying, "well ,we have to special order them!!" There was one manager I think it was Dennis they called him was the most understanding, knowledgeable and helpful man I have ever had the pleasure to have met me and my husband both enjoyed his helpfulness. I'm not sure where is now they have said he isn't working a few times I have called ;( well Dennis I hope you are coming back soon. If not sorry oreilys I won't be back
What is it about this store! I have been buying from this location since 2003 if my memory serves me correctly. I have dealt with several different counter people over these years. This location has always had parts within one day or less for my 66 Impala, my 67 GMC and a 54 GMC as well as all of my newer cars! One associate even found parts for the engine in my 1991 Lincoln Pipeliner welder…A Canadian welder with a Diesel engine! I just can’t even think of buying from anyone else!!!
I had help yesterday changing my car battery out, and while I know it's something offered, I was still so happy that they could help me out. I never got the guy's name, but he was really nice about the whole thing. Took the stress right out of my week!
After being told by another local auto parts store they were too short staffed to install a replacement car battery, Randy at O’Reilly gladly helped even though it was -8°F, there was a constant rush of customers also needing help with their batteries, & there was only one other employee working with him (who was also helping customers in the cold). Did I mention I didn’t even buy the battery here, just a hardware accessory? These guys are great!
Hands down best customer service I have ever had. Randy took the time to not only replace my battery, clean ALL the corrosion around my battery but explained what he was doing throughout the process. Yes, I know it’s just a battery but customer service like this does not exist anymore. Thank you Randy! You are truly a remarkable person and we should all strive to be kind and caring like you.
Went in for wipers,and the staff was very helpful in making my decision. They didn't push the most expensive, nor the cheapest. Said all of the employees used these,and pointed out they have a one year warranty. He also took the time to explain how to install them.
I don't know a lot about cars, but when one of my headlights the staff were so helpful with helping me find what I needed and showing me how to do replace it. It was very affordable and had a very comfortable atmosphere. I didn't feel overwhelmed or ashamed that I didn't know how to fix it like some places make me feel. It was just a very good experience over all.
So happy with the customer service! My car’s battery died right before heading hours away for the weekend. I called and Will came to my car to replace the battery! It was -4 degrees outside even! He went out of his way after his scheduled hours to help me out! So so thankful! Thanks again Will!
