Had my battery tested here which tested ok. The gentleman thought that I may have a parasitic draw that was draining my battery. I took my truck to a shop and indeed was a parasitic draw. My light in my back seat was in between on and off so even though my light wasn't on it was still draining my battery. Good job batteries plus!
I was looking for a battery maintainer. I was interested in a more expensive unit. The salesman show me a lot better solution, for a lot better price. He was trying to find a better solution, instead of making a bigger, less functional sell. Give them a try!
I was in a pinch with a dead battery that was able to get jumped before arriving to the store. They were super fast, helpful and polite during the process. They were able to get my the correct battery and replaced in under 10 minutes. Highly recommend them for their professionalism and efficacy and professional business practice.
Warranty is terrible. My battery died within one year and when I went to redeem the warranty I was told that because the battery froze in the cold, this constituted "abuse of the battery" and was not covered. In decades of buying car batteries, no company has ever told me a battery freezing in a cold spell was "abuse" and not warrantied. This is discrimination against renters and others who don't have garaged. They should build their batteries more rugged to handle the cold of the upper midwest.
Anyway, I am no longer going to Interstate for batteries and other parts. NAPA will get my business.
Great customer service buying a battery for a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. I took the car to O’Reilly’s and Autozone and they said they couldn’t install the battery because it was too complex. The man at Interstate Battery installed it in less than 10 minutes in single digit weather. Very satisfied and will be going back for my next car battery purchase.

Just wanted to Thank DJ at the Ankeny location. Went in because I needed a watch battery, which I got in about 2 min. But we ended up talking about car batteries and how awesome interstate batteries are. We also talked about how important the customer is and taking care of them. I will recommend this location to my friends just because of DJ. Thanks again for a great experience today.
Chris was great! He took out my old battery and installed a new battery in about 20 minutes. This was outside in freezing temps and the battery was under the passenger seat. Price was fair and service fantastic! Highly recommend!
Amazing service and professional . Super fast and knew which battery my car needed just by looking at the old one . DJ was amazing , would recommend coming back here if I have another battery issue !! In total , less than 15 minutes spent here .
Bought a car battery in April of 2022 now just over a year later can't start the car without jumper cables. Took the battery in for warranty and the manager said it tests better than a new one off the shelf. Tells me my starter must be going bad. Take it to my mechanic and he tested the battery one two testers and says it has some charge but not enough to start the car and the starter is fine. Go back to Interstate battery and they say there is nothing they can do. Bought a new battery at another store everything works great a week later. Never buy from these people they lie and will not honor their warranty. They stated as long as it tests 12volts it is fine. Didn't matter if you need to jump your car for it to start. They called a regional manager at another store and he could care less that it wouldn't hold enough charge to actually start a car.
They do not stand behind the warranty. My 30 month battery was failing after 25 months and they refused to replace. The battery tested 12.3 which means its bad. I was told I took too many short trips…..Drive your car further and you wont have to jump it in the morning before work. What a joke.
Had to stop in and get a couple of car batteries and while one of the batteries didn't work for my use, they made it right and the correct battery is on the way. All things considered, I was pleased with the outcome. I would not hesitate to go back.
Just left. I called ahead because it was getting close to closing time and my battery was dead but I got a jump. Scout was kind enough to stay a little late and he saved me because I need to leave for an early meeting tomorrow morning. He had everything ready when I got there and met me at the door. Didn’t over sell me and was quick and professional changing things out. Great experience!
DJ at Interstate Battery on N Ankeny Blvd is exceptional! I stopped by 2/12/21 in the freezing cold to get my car battery replaced. He was the only staff on site and very prompt and efficient in his service finishing up with his current customer and assisting me while 2-3 other customers showed up. He addressed us all with a positive, light-hearted and friendly attitude meanwhile working in a very quick and efficient manner. I was so impressed by his calm, kind and professional demeanor I tried to give him a tip to which he refused stating he’s not allowed to take tips. When I stated I felt bad he couldn’t accept a tip he responded “don’t feel bad at all as my best reward is knowing my customers are satisfied.” He also spoke highly of his job and management structure at Interstate Battery stating they treat their staff right and often give them incentives and extra compensation for a job well done. I truly appreciated DJ and his AWESOME work ethic, efficiency and customer service. Way to go DJ and Interstate Battery! Having arrived as a new customer I will definitely be a returning customer!
I was having problems starting my motorhome over by Saylorville. It would start cranking, but it quickly ran out of juice. I pulled the two chasis batteries out and took them to Interstate All Battery Center. Luckily for me, they just needed charging. It would have been easy for them to say I needed new ones, but they didn't. The total bill blew my mind though. It was NOTHING!! This is the place to go folks.

This is a great place to buy batteries. I stopped in the other evening to have my car battery checked. Mike found that the alternator & starter checked out good. However, I needed to replace my old, worn out battery. I'm a female senior citizen, and quite often we are slighted by sales people. Not the case at this store. Mike explained features of the several batteries that would fit my car. He was an exceptional sales person, kindly pricing and giving warranty information and answering my questions. I went home with this knowledge to make a decision. I returned today to purchase a new battery. Jesse was the polite young salesman that graciously helped me. I chose to install the battery myself. By the time I took my old battery in, Jesse had the new one waiting on the counter for me. Not once did I ever feel uncomfortable dealing with either one of these salesmen. They both were very respectful and most helpful. Jesse came out to check on my progress as I installed my battery. I'm very impressed by how timely and thoroughly that business is handled here. I'm very satisfied with my new Interstate battery and have referred many of my friends and neighbors to this store. Thank you Mike and Jesse for helping get a dependable battery for my car.
I had two 18v batteries rebuilt at Inerstate battery that could not be replaced because Sears is no more, just wanted to give a shout out great job guys!!! They are now as good as they ever were new! Thank you!
Made the mistake of going to the “other” battery store in Ankeny since it was closer. Even though I bought the battery online and it said it was in stock, they didn’t have it. Said they could have it later in the day. Interstate not only had several in stock, but had us in and out (including installation of the new battery) in less than 10 minutes. Great service - we’ll be back.
This store always has great service and are extremely helpful. Most recently, we called ahead to see if they had a battery for my car. We showed up and the employee was waiting there with the battery. The battery was replaced and we were on our way in 5 minutes.
Customer Sevice is amazing at both stores I have been to in the Des Moines area. The guys take pride in their job and go above and beyond to help their customers!!! Bless them for going our in the below freezing temps to install car batteries or just to check car batteries. Their prices are always better than the competition. Why pay $6.99 for 4 AA batteries at Wal-Mart when you can get 24 AA batteries for $9.99 at Interstate?!?! I will not shop anywhere else for my battery needs!!!
Great experience here. My car takes a weird battery size and they were able to get it in to the shop in 3 days. Install was quick and painless and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend.
