We had a very scary Sunday road trip to Iowa City in which my car was making a grinding noise. We drove a long way with this noise, hoping when we got to Iowa City we could quickly get it fixed. Because it was Monday and we didnt know anyone in town we were skeptical. Still, we had to be back home on Monday. Our first call was to Dave & Pat Seydel’s, found in a Google search. Pat said on the phone he couldn’t promise anything until he diagnosed. I brought the car in, went with Ed on a drive so he could hear the noise, and before 1 pm they were finished with the repair. We had already paid a “mobile mechanic” to help us on the road but they had made the wrong repair and ate up seven hours doing other things. It was such a relief to have found an honest, capable car repair place after what we’d been through. I have to say the best part about writing this review is knowing they don’t need it. They've got so many people singing their praises because they're that good.
Best mechanics in town. Pat is friendly, honest and fair, and his guys do a great job - thanks Ed! They worked on my car quickly and efficiently; and they resolved a small billing issue in the my favor (as the customer) - and with full accountability. Can’t recommend them enough. Great customer service and just really pleasant to work with, in addition to being talented mechanics.
Seydel Auto is always good to me. I have been taking my Jeep here for a couple of years. They are ALWAYS honest and provide quality work at a reasonable price. I will always take my vehicles here and refer to everyone I know. Great place and even greater people!
First impression is always the most important. This place seems to embody two words not found in the mechanic's dictionary. Honest and affordable. I left one shop in Illinois and they tried to replace a tie rod saying it was damaged. I had just had a lot of hardware replaced a few months before, including the tie rods. I ended up in Iowa the next day and took my car in for other maintenance. I got a call later telling me nothing was wrong with the rods. A bolt just needed to be tightened. $250 saved!!! I will definitely be returning.
Pat and his team always do a great job. He is an honest operator who does not “oversell”their services if in his opinion a certain issue can wait awhile before being repaired; versus saying it needs repaired now when that might not be the case.
Seydel auto is superior for quality, honesty, and professionalism. I have taken our vehicles there many times and have never been disappointed by any aspect of the experience. Once several years ago, they made a mistake on my truck, contacted me immediately, and made it right to my full satisfaction without me even having to ask.
I tow cars in there all the time the pretty helpful they seem to get cars in and out pretty quick they also make hydraulic hoses I've used them a lot for that
This review is to give Pat and all his people my biggest appreciation for all the good work in my cars. Pat has been always very honest and advice me on the best choice for my van. I trust him and I feel very confidant taking my for long trips because they checked. They are very reasonable and never push. Love these guys.
Awesome shop awesome group of guys!!!! I’m a travel nurse I had some car issues just as I got to work of coarse I work nights so had to work overnight then try to get someone to look at my car first thing in the morning when I got off. Pat and the guys got me in and back on the ride asap!! Ms Kelly was amazing in the office I can’t say enough about them!! Thank you all so much you are the best

Pat, Dave and the crew have been our mechanics for years and through multiple vehicles. They're really the best. Super honest, informative and flexible. When something goes wrong, at least we get to go in a chat with them.
Friendly, professional, and a quick turn around! I had my alternator and battery replaced and it was done the next day. They informed me about future maintenance I'll need and about when I'll need it. Decades of experience and quality performance. I would highly recommend this shop!

Very glad repairs are explained thoroughly. Many other places things are left out or dumbed down if you are female. Plan a few days ahead to get an appointment. They are busy so you know they are good.

I do feel valued and like they care about me. This business treats you like one of their own and I'm thankful to have gotten so lucky to have a relationship with them. I recently had a dent on my front right bumper because someone backed into my car, and I was looking up places to do a quick fix - to see if the dent can be popped out rather than get a whole new bumper.
I found Dave & Pat Seydel on Google then stopped by. I spoke with son (I think?) He checked with his Dad and told me they can give it a try. I dropped of my car around 10AM, and I got a text from them around 1PM. My dent was popped back out with minor scratches. They charged me $75 for roughly three hours.
Honestly, I know very little about auto mechanic work, but the fact that they were able to help me in such a quick turnaround time and saved me from paying a $900 bumper (an estimate I got from another body shop in town), I was happy. The owners were super nice and friendly. This place has several old school mechanics. When I walked in, I felt like I was walking into a small town auto shop with honest mechanics. I highly recommend this place.
I wouldn't take my car anywhere else. My parents have taken their cars here for decades, and I've trusted them with my cars, too. They tell you what absolutely has to be fixed--thanks to their comprehensive exam during even routine oil changes--and what can wait (or what could potentially be an issue down the road)--no BS or unnecessary work. They even looked at my current car before I bought it to confirm nothing was seriously wrong with it.
Great service and they affordable. The best part is they are honest about whether a car is worth fixing or if you are better off retiring it and getting a new car.

This place was recommended by a coworker who loves it. My car needed a new starter and I needed to be at work that night so I called to see if they could get me in right away, to which they said yes. I called a tow truck and showed up. They took my key and said we'll call you when we get to it. To which I replied, I would just wait since they said they could get me right in. The man then goes off about how it was lunch time and I am crazy for thinking any car shop would be able to get me in right away and it would not be until 4pm or later when they would be able to even look at it. I called a different shop and asked the tow truck to take it there.
It is unfair to say they are a terrible shop from this experience, but being treated like that makes me positive I will never return there. My coworker was shocked at their attitude but if she gets good service from them, others might also. If anything good came from this, I found a new auto shop I will go to from now on and a towing company that cares about its customers (my towing guy was the nicest one from this experience)
If you want to keep your car alive and maintained this is the place. I have dealt with several shops in the area and it is safe to say that this shop is honest and very customer orientated. They are fair with prices and do a damn good job. Dave is a super nice guy too.
