Cool place to visit. Theres not much else in this town ? but the waterfall is cool. I just about stepped on a snake on the concrete steps, so fair warning. But don’t skip because of a dang snake.
The mill was not knew to but I had never stop. After seeing a recent post on Facebook, I decided to stop and check it out. It was not opened-April and no one was around to ask questions so I read all the signs including the one interpretive sign. The Upper Iowa River and Liftke Lake and park across from the mill are exceptionally well-kept. The dam makes for a beautiful photo will the mill in the background. I can’t wait till August to go to Sweetcorn Days for fresh Iowa Corn, watermelon, and buckwheat pancake. The buckwheat is grown at the mill as it was done in the olden-days.
Had a great time navigating to this park on the hunt for my first geocach. Got a break from the drive back to the twin cities and some pics as well. There were kids fishing on the damn and a couple of old guys above it catching fish. Picnic tables and camp spots available just across the bridge for $25 a night( self register).
Peacefull, quiet little getaway from the rest of the busy , fast paced world. Historical as well ..Thebold mills pretty neat to see. I'd recommend u see it.
