Wow, towed me at my own house AND charged me $205, aren't they so respectful and kind? So thoughtful for that honestly!

These guys are extremely rude, They are not well educated, not even well developed. They write a small sign under the tree and wait for you to park. They claim it is private parking and need a permit. But why don’t you make the sign more obvious and put it at a place everyone can see it? Not sure if the sign is legal or not but it is more like predatory parking enforcement. Their targets are mostly Purdue students. It is a shame to have these people in West Lafayette area.

Worst towing company and least professional staff I've ever encountered in 30 years. The signs that are posted for no parking look like 5th graders wrote them, while there are at least 3 other signs that say parking is allowed for tenants and customers. These people have zero customer service abilities and should be looked into by the proper authorities. Absolutely despicable business management.

Terrible company and service. Charged over 200 dollars for me to pick up my car as a staff member of Purdue. They have the same history of doing this to students. Charging prices more than Chicago, in a little town of Lafayette, IN. Price gouging at its finest. Sad way to run a business

I don’t even have words for how messed up this place is. They walk around at midnight with their phone flash light to see if cars in apartment complexes have parking passes. Get a life and stop targeting college students. If zero stars were a thing, you would’ve been a 0!
May 03, 2025 -
Wow, so nice! They gave me a $5 discount off my tow! That’s what I look for in inconveniences, slight positives! Would happily be towed again!
Mar 24, 2025 -
The difference between 1 and 5 stars is whether the tow was called on you, or you called them. I've called them and they were good.

Despicable humans. They don't care about your possesions and profit off your misery. Side note, they make no effort in validating the owner is picking up their car (you go onto their lot and take someone's elses car as long as you can identify its color and get it started) and only accept cash to avoid taxes.
Feb 22, 2025 -
they charge an extra $65 if you get towed on the weekends, they ask for cash only so it’s tax free, and the customer service rep who helped me told me I could pay less if I took my top off

I was at a fast food place and because the bathrooms were full I went across the street to use the bathroom. When I came back my car was in the process of being towed and I had to pay $60 to get him to undo what he had done (took him the time it took me to go across the street to withdraw the cash and he threatened to tow it if I did not have the cash since there was no card option). I showed him that I had paid for food within the last hour and he then threatened to tow my car as a response. I don't know how these people are employed around college students. Made me late for class as well.

The world would be a better place without this company, a 30 dollar "storage charge" for the car being there for 20 minutes is absurd. The owner is extremely rude and hides behind his window and the maximum charge laws. If you read this, never complain about me knocking on your window if it's the only way to get your attention.

What a sad excuse of a business. Justin was extremely rude and wouldn’t show my friend and I the receipt with the charges on it so I could match up the charges with the sign they had posted. ($205) He said “I’ll give it to you after you pay” He finally gave it to me after I argued with him and he tried to physically intimidate me by slamming it into my hand. When I called to complain about this he picked up the line and hung up on me. Will be complaining further but not to this business as they will never see they are in the wrong. They’re shady and try to rip broke college students off. Only offer cash payment so they don’t have pay taxes and can move around their revenue to where it doesn’t belong. Not even to mention, if you lose your receipt you can’t get a refund. I know my rights and will be taking this further. The worst business I’ve ever encountered.

Extremely rude, very unprofessional, cash only so that they can alter their revenue and not be required to pay taxes. After having my vehicle towed, my parking break will not disengage either.

Had an emergency tow on I-65, and our guy Porkchop was very very friendly and helped us find a car shop right by the hotels and dropped us off at the hotel after. Made a stressful deal much easier!

Trash company ran by a trash family. Rude, unprofessional. Illegally towed my car in my apartment complex when "they THOUGHT there was no sticker in my window". Tow trucker didn't even take the required photos to prove it. Still wouldn't give me my car back unless I paid them. So what's stopping them from towing any car that they please? Nothing. How does it make you guys feel knowing that the only money you can make is stealing from people? People like you is what's wrong on this planet. Rot in hell :)

BEWARE!! Major scam artists. My daughter parked her car in a lot to go eat at a nearby business. Car was towed after being gone for 30 minutes. The sign with a list of businesses that could legally park in this lot was posted in the window of a closed business. They charged 2 college students $205 to get the car back. I will be calling the city to complain about this shady company. Avoid this business like the plague!!

Never do reviews but this company is an exception. I parked my car next to another car of the same model but different color that had been marked to be towed. I got back at most 30 minutes later, and the company towed my car. I later saw the truck driver towing the other car and naturally thought they had towed the wrong car. When I went up to talk to the driver, the driver was rude, dismissive, and tried to physically intimidate me and threatened to "beat you up" for "being in his way" before driving off with the other car. Called the business to ask if they towed the wrong car and complain about the physical threats. The receptionist was very rude and refused to say much to me, really only telling me that the owner of the building I parked at tagged my car to be towed in less than 30 minutes and I needed to pay 200+ dollars. When I tried to complain about the truck driver who threatened me, the receptionist didn't hear any of it and refused to give me the contact information of a manager or leader while hanging up on me multiple times. The point of this review is that my issue is not because the business towed me. They did what the owner of the building I parked at asked them to do, which was to tow my car. My issue is that the company hires people who are extremely rude, uncompromising, and has no business working in any service industry. 0/5 if I could extremely unprofessional business.

My car was towed for parking at a shop for 2 hours. I didn't actually park inside their designated private parking area. They towed my car without any notification or tickets. And they charged $140, CASH ONLY. According to Indiana law, "any vehicle left on private property is considered an abandoned vehicle, but before it can be towed, it must be tagged with a notification sticker and left for 24 hours." The woman at the counter seemed nice and patient for explaining things. But when I was trying to get inside the room (because outside was extremely hot), I asked the guy if I could come inside. The guy said No and appeared extremely impatient. I was kind of got annoyed and tried to leave. Then the guy turned back and said:" Do you want your car back? Then change your attitude". I think he kind of has potential racist issue.

My car was illegally parked and towed by this company. It was taken less than 2 miles away and held for less than 12 hours. It was $140, which seemed pretty reasonable. HOWEVER, I'm giving this place a 1 star review because this company had a CONFEDERATE FLAG displayed on company property. This company has a truck blocking the entrance to the lot so that towed cars can't escape without payment, and this truck had a confederate flag decal. If someone has their car towed, they have no choice but to do business with people who display a racist symbol. I do not think the apartment management company who had me towed (BK management) should be in business with potentially racist nutters.

His service are not worth the money. He overcharged for holding a car for less than a day. He is a crook and a menace to society and does not deserve single cent for any person’s working money. If I could, I would give him zero stars. He has no heart and soul and understanding for the situation at hand. All he cares about is money. Hopefully, he would be out of business.

These.... I'll keep my comments to myself. Charged me 250 to get my car out of impounded when it wasn't even there 24 hours. And because I was 2 min late charged me an additional 45 for after hours pickup. I swear they got the best hustle around and I think I'm bout to change my profession.

Used them because someone had parked in my spot. Lady I spoke to on the phone said seven minutes. Half hour later I called back asking for an updated ETA and the woman was very rude to me. She snapped at me before I could hardly get any words out and then hung up the phone. I was trying to be very polite and I get that tow companies get busy, that was not the issue I just wanted to know an estimate of when they were coming because I was already a half hour late to class. When the tow truck finally arrived the gentleman just told me to park somewhere else which is not a viable option because you need specific permits to park on campus. When I told him I had located the car that did not have a parking permit for this lot he grudgingly towed the car. I am not happy with the way the situation was handled. Unfortunately this is the tow company I had to call because they have contracted with the housing company I use but I would not use again.

Thank you Bison Financial Group and JR Towing Service in downtown Lafayette, IN, for diligently watching over your parking lot. It’s comforting to know that your employees are on constant surveillance and quick to react by having any vehicle that accidentally parks in your lot after business hours promptly towed away. It was especially comforting after a long day of laying my sweet mother-in-law to rest. After a hard and emotional day of the showing, funeral service, and cemetery burial of my husband’s mom, my children’s grandma, and the best wife ever we stopped for a bite to eat downtown. Being from out of town, we weren’t sure where to park on a busy road that was under construction. Your well placed signage behind the large brightly colored ‘sidewalk closed’ sign was so easy for us to spot. It’s obvious that we were trespassing purposely since the parking lot was empty and the middle parking spots were not marked as reserved. We hope you both enjoy the $645 (cash only... but no change is given) donation we made to your caring and compassionate businesses. Thanks again for your prompt response and alertness and for making this already memorable day even more special.

I wasn’t a customer of this place, but one of this company’s drivers almost assaulted my boyfriend and I near the Rise on campus tonight. I was trying to Doordash a delivery and their tow truck was parked in a one way alley blocking my way, and the driver of the vehicle was obviously under the influence and slurring really hateful derogatory language to me. I’ve never been fearful of my life before tonight. Dude needs fired. I filed a complaint and the girl over the phone seemed doubtful of me and told me there’s another JR Towing that “gets mixed up” with them all the time. Guarantee I’ll be calling them to leave a complaint too. Just in case.

OUTSTANDING! I called and scheduled pick up for 3 pm. Mitch arrived 10 minutes early and ready to go. He greeted me with a handshake and explained everything he was doing. He was very kind and very professional. I had a 4WD Tahoe, so it had to be towed from the rear. When we arrived at the destination, Mitch went the extra mile to help me get the vehicle exactly where I needed it which was not an easy task! JR's was the cheapest rate in town and the best service in my opinion. I felt bad that I didn't have cash to tip Mitch for his hard work, he deserves a raise! In the future, I will be calling JR's when I need a tow.

Recently was on vacation in Miami when we started receiving emails about the parking lot in our building being sealed and re painted. They needed the cars moved to another lot but we were in Florida so they emailed and said they would have a tow company move the vehicles to the other lot (which was 30ft away). I also have to add that I own a 1985 Buick Lesabre custom that has a custom ‘year of manufacturer’ license plate on the back. I have the original signed affidavit that was given to me by the BMV, my registration and my state issued ‘historic’ plate, which I have to keep in the car at all times in case I get pulled over and police need it. Fast forward a couple days and my wife’s brother comes over to our apartment to feed the cat while we were gone, to his surprise, the 85 Buick is gone and all other lots were empty so he quickly calls me and we quickly verify that the car isn’t in my usual parking space. I remember getting the emails about the towing company from granite so I figured they might have had to put the car somewhere else since it has a fairly long body, and it can get awkward when being released from a tow truck. Finally I get someone on the phone who tells me the person who organized and oversaw the moving of the cars to another lot is on lunch. I hear nothing else from Granite for the rest of the day. The next day I called the police to see if maybe they had a report of a stolen car found or something like that, which they did not. This is the fourth day my car was missing and JRS recovery, hadn’t notified police that they were in possession of my vehicle. I find out at 4:50pm on the fourth day that my vehicle was towed for displaying improper/expired tags... I asked the guy over the phone who was the person who gave them the OK to take the vehicle off the lot?? To which their response was “it wasn’t our idea, it was the property owner who made that decision.” After about an hour of listening to JRS and Granite play hot potato over the phone, best offer they came up with was to have JRS tow my car back to my parking lot, but I’d have to pay for the towing OR have someone pick up the vehicle. The ladder which was impossible since I had the keys in my possession and I’m still in Florida for another 4 days. And the dummies they kept saying things like I “shouldn’t have had expired plates” By day 5 I’m online looking to buy tickets back home. I make it back to Indiana two days earlier than expected only to be greeted at the door of JRS recovery by an aggressive overweight man who was clearly wearing a concealed firearm under his shirt. Acting like he was on drugs and/or mentally unstable. He would not let me get into my car without paying $236 because that’s “how much it accrued the time it was there.” I simply stated to him that granite said (granite not me) JRS are ones who’re calling the shots. After a bit of frustration I asked “if you say that’s not true, then who’s lying to me?” He jumps up and starts walking towards me with his fist clenched and kept repeating “what the hell did you call me?” I back up and start walking out of the front door and right into my wife who’s holding a phone in her hand. Perfect, It was granite on the other end and they wanted to talk to the guy who’s about to crush my skull. In a matter of milliseconds his attitude went from aggressive and threatening to spaced out and almost confused... attitude changed completely when he started talking to his BF or whoever it was on the other line. After about a minute and a half he looks up and asks me “do you have your registration in the car? And is it valid?” I said yes! Obviously that’s what I was there for but he acted like he’s just hearing this for the first time. He lets me in the car. I take the registration out of the car along with the tag and affidavit but literally ALL he cares about is getting a copy of my registration for Granite. He opens the gate and I drive out without a hitch. Fast forward 30 days later I get an email from granite saying I owe $230 for “towing services”... Small claims court, here I come!

Had the most rude experience today. Mom was towed after 5 minutes of parking in order to get some food. Went to this location, and the people insisted we pay in cash - which was pretty weird to me. Mom was from out of town so we had a terrible time being able to find an ATM. Manager was extremely not understanding and forced us out. Need a new towing company for this town.

I was parked at McDonalds for lunch and to study before I had work on campus an hour later. Went to the bathroom to change before work and as I left my car was gone. They claimed I must not have been there when they checked to see if the vehicle belonged to a McDonalds customer. When I called they told me I could just uber to get my car and that it was going to be 140 dollars. When I got there. There was not even an office. Just a fence that you have to call a number on to have someone drive out "in a few minutes." So not only and I angry I was wrongfully towed, I am angry at the cost and inconvenience they put on my day. (Also I had to call into work and was not able to work that day.) Very dissatisfied. Would give a 0 if I could.

If I could give a no stars review of this towing establishment I would. To say I was given unfair treatment, and subpar service tonight would be an understatement in quality . Upon arriving home late this evening from running a few errands, I arrived home to someone having parked in my reserved spot. So naturally, I called for a towing service. They took my request for service, and dispatched a tow truck with an estimated wait time of 20 minutes. After waiting an hour I called for an update, and was told a situation with the cops had to take presidence. So in being the understanding person that I am, I agreed to continue waiting, as I was assured they would be dispatched to me right after. I then waited again, this time over an hour, and called again just to ask if they could possibly call so I could walk somewhere safer to wait. However, when I called the women then persisted to tell me that they would not be dispatching service to my location for my request. I requested an explanation for why I was not contacted, as I was a girl waiting in a dark parking lot alone for almost 3 hours. Instead of an apology, or any condolences that I might have accepted I was met with blame for being upset and was told to not have waited, which what else would i do in this situation? Words can not describe the anger I feel for how I was treated in this situation, and I can say for a fact that I will never use their service again by choice. That is not how you treat a customer. I am glad that Joey's towing services in Lafayette gives they're customers the upmost respect and will be sure to use them from now on.
