Whoever answers the phone is rude and mouthy I would never go here I love when people act like know it alls instead of trying to purchase materials very unprofessional
I brought in a pickup load of mixed metals. There was a long line for the scale and the non-ferrous drop off point, so be patient. The drivers and operators have a job to do, they have to watch out for those of us bringing scrap in. Be patient. The weigh master and all of the people on the ground are watching out for your safety. The heavy equipment operators need room to move, swing, rotate their machines PLEASE give them room. If you bring your children in, PLEASE keep them in the vehicle. No ONE wants to see an accident or tragedy. The prices are competitive with other metal recyclers. I like to come to this location in South Bend because I have never damaged a tire here. They do a good job keeping sharp, pointy little things picked up off the concrete pad.
It's nice to have a place to get rid of scrap. They are not, however, sympathetic at all if you show up too close to closing time. I do understand they want to go home on time just like everyone else but when someone is super polite and even offers you cash for a few extra moments of time just because they simply NEED to get rid of it and this will be their only opportunity because they work 6 days a week 12hrs a day, they still don't have to stay open, but a little kindness really would help the disappointment be easier to bear.
Nice facility. Their prices are very low, and they don't know their insulated wires very well. I got paid double almost triple on the same items I brought them. Make sure to check your prices before leaving.
The worst customer service experience ever! Lady that worked there was extremely rude. Threw my husband's ID at him. Then gave us no instructions and acted like we were idiots. Literally said in a condescending tone " you don't know how green and red lights work?" When I asked a question. Price we were paid for our metal was trash anyway. Go somewhere else.
Called this location 4 times in less than 10 mins. trying to get someone to answer the phone for scrap pricing. I will continue to patronize Schupan and Paul's as they are always friendly and prompt to answer customer calls.
Unloaded truck then told they’re loading the atm with cash. Waited over half an hour. Wish I was told before I uploaded this was happening. Would not come here again.
Lady in the Office was rude after waiting when no one was present. Told her I had mixed metal but mostly steel and not much. I was told to use the Truck Scale anyways keeping in mind larger scales have huge standards of deviation on weight. Dumped mostly auto parts and scrap steel, e.g. Barrel and drums and rotors among a few aluminum car radiators. Weighed out noticed "Home" was written on the ticket and got $12. Not worth the gas. I'll use someone else next time or toss it in the trash. No wonder many people dump in this city.
Friendly staff but they short you. I brought it 35lbs of bare copper and they told me it was $3.31 a pound, couple lbs of aluminum (Ik it’s not much to make a huge difference) 5-pounds of stainless steel and they gave me $110. The copper alone at 35lbs of bare copper x $3.31 a pound is $115.85
Always a square deal & great staff. Only metal recyclers in town I turn to. Keep in mind, new rules & hours. Monday through Friday only. Walk ups with I.D. still accepted. No catalytic converters from residential customers in accordance with Indiana State scrapping policies. Please if you see the guys, be kind. They just want to get home to their families as well at night. Best time to arrive & allow for all involved to get home in time for dinner try to arrive an hour before closing. Don't be surprised if you show up late to only find the doors closed, everyone is accountable to schedule their time accordingly. That's just my dollar's worth of sense for this evening.
Horrible place the lady today thought she was God from how she acted never been treated so rude then. They ripped Mr off I weighed my van before I went at the loves truck stop the scale ripped me off 1000 lbs and then I was gna cash in my electric motors she said u will get less than 90 a ton there website shows 20cebts a lb which is 49p a ton no wonder she's mean she's taking all the money
Perfect place to take all your scrap metals of any kind, only thing is that you have to unload everything yourself, however that is typical for most scrapers.
Awesome as always friendly and helpful. A great experience they really have a excellent crue working there right now way better than grouchy old guys at Paul's .. just keeping it
Seems to be a reasonable place to take scrap metals, but actual pricing is a little opaque. I think maybe you need to specifically ask about prices and weights.
1st time visitor. Probably the last. Didn't know the process well, so lady running the scale was absolutely rude as could be. Not the kind off service that makes you want to go twice.
I have used OmniSource on Praire Ave. for years to turn in all precious/scrap metal. Today marks the end of that loyalty. Due to ONE disrespectful, fundamental employee named Chris. Chris is located inside at the aluminum/copper/brass scale. You will know who Chris is even without looking at the name tag. Chris will be the individual yelling in the garage, disrespecting customers, and possibly you. Chris will blab for awhile but how to correct him is simple. Simply remind him because of yourself is why he gets paid. I visited today. Did everything as usual just to be disrespected within seconds of getting out of my vehicle. Chris either blacked out or was on hallucinogens because we have two very different scenarios of my arrival. As we have two very different definitions of the word manners. The management has been informed and now rests with them. The one star is for the ATM being fast at its job, not talking back, and knowing it's place unlike Chris.
Usually pretty prompt at letting sellers in. Been waiting at the front gate since on a Saturday at opening and they still haven't opened by 8:45. I guess they open when they feel like it. Waste of a Saturday morning
Took in a couple of fenders and doors from a car i wrecked they wanted the title of my car to take the wrecked body panels and wont let you see the scale weights for what u have they expect you to trust them
Same amount of loads i would get close to $100 in buchanan Mi I've received $35 no wonder the receipt don't show your weight in and weight out i definitely won't ever be back
They wanted a receipt for scrap metal we stripped off and old building and had permission to, that was gonna be demolished. Don't waste your time here , I suprised they don't want paperwork on where u got your cans from smfh!!!
The ones helping unload my scrap were very nice and helpful. Can’t say the same about the lady who weighed my scrap. She was impatient and rude. It was my first time there and i wasn’t aware of what to do but she acted as if I did. Guidance was horrible. The light fixtures designed to tell a car when to stop and go did not work whatsoever. More like she didn’t use them.
Price for cans is always lower than Elkharts scrap businesses and unless you have paperwork showing where you got something they will not accept it. Not worth the time when other scrapyards pay more with less hassle.
