I am seeing a lot of negative reviews about catalytic converters. Not having one SERIOUSLY diminishes the vehicles value. This is NOT just Doug!
I'm seeing negative about timeliness. Doug was within 20 minutes of what he said and was great communicating this. In a business where other people can affect your arrival time, you HAVE to be understanding.
Lastly, I see reviews about him being "rude". While I found him to be bluntly honest in his evaluation of the vehicle's worth, he was VERY personable.
He was sweet, friendly, funny and honest! Even gave me dinner suggestions! Lol!
I HIGHLY recommend dealing with this business, so long as the check clears! Lol!
I first used Doug to junk my sons car. He showed up on time and was very nice. A month or so later, my truck needed to get towed to a repair shop. I didn't know who to call so I called Doug. He came right out and was very nice. A few more months go by and my truck needs to be towed again....so I call Doug. He asked what was going on with my truck so I told him. He referred me to someone he knows..which would be the 4th repair shop at this point...to have them look at it before I tow it to a dealer. Since I don't trust dealers, I figured what the heck, I will try his guy. A very long story made short...I took it to Steve at Spark and Boost Auto Repair and my car is running great! Thank you Doug for helping me, you went above and beyond!!
Called Doug. Asked him how much he would give me for a 1997 Toyota Corolla. He said 100$, 200$ if its got a catalytic converter. I asked if he could
check for the converter when he arrived because I'm not a car guy. He said yeah, and I said "if it doesnt have one and I dont want to give it up is that gonna be a big deal. Doug says "Yeah cuz itd be a waste of my time".
So I said "well I'll sell it to you either way I guess. No big deal" he said "okay I'll be there at 2" then sent another text saying "2-3". Its 330 and he isnt responding to texts now.
Seems like this is a pretty consistent behavior of his from reading other reviews. Just find a friend to help you get it to the scrap yard. Youll get more money and waste less time.
I highly recommend Doug Buys Junk Cars! Doug was friendly, professional, honest and made the selling/buying process as easy as possible. He was prompt and came to us to purchase my car. We will definitely tell our friends & family about Dougs!
Called to see what I could get for my car. Told Doug that I lost title but I have registration. He told me “I’m not a cop I don’t look up vin numbers”. Then hung up on me. Don’t recommend going through this guy. Not worth your time.
Should rename his business, "Doug buys catalytic converters" because he doesn't buy junk cars.. Called, he quoted a price and said he'd be here in 20 min, I waited 3 hours, he finally texted me back he wasn't interested because it didn't have a catalytic converter. Apparently he'd already been here and crawled under my car and didn't bother to tell me! Nevermind then. I called a competitor, they picked it up within 30 min. Wasted my entire afternoon waiting on him to tell me no.
There are better companies out there who will keep their word, try someone else.
Doug seems like a very nice man who operates a solid business. However, he seems overworked and therefore cannot come and pick up all the cars when he says that he can. He also offered to pick up my old lawnmowers that I don’t need.
If there was a zero star rating to give to this man, I would. I called him and told him my situation and that I just did a lot of updates on my old car last year. It runs good but just needs a jump and another key. All of which I explained to him. I asked him how much I would get for my car and he said depending on the weight. He said if it runs good and doesn’t have any problems, he’d give me more. I then said my main concern is to get a somewhat decent value for this car BECAUSE I just did a bunch of work on it last year. HE RUDELY TOLD ME and these were his EXACT WORDS, “well I’m gonna tell you like this you’re not gonna get a value out of me because I’m in this business to make money and if you’re calling me you don’t care how much you get for the car you just want it gone”. I said that is not what I meant for my car but thank you for your time and have a good day, then I hung up. He was EXTREMELY unprofessional and I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone at all!!!!
Called Doug let him know I have a truck I want to get rid of call went well texted him the next day told me he'd be by around 12:45pm and waited and waited... No reply no show not good for his line of work. Bad business if you ask me highly won't recommend.
Called to have my car junked. Doug gave me a fair price then said it be a couple of hours. 4hrs later I called just to make sure I wasn't forgot about. He got rude with me instantly and said hes the only person working. I told him I understand and it's no problem. 10 hours later and he never showed up or called me to let me know he wasn't coming.
So if you have a perfectly good running car why would someone try to sell it to a junk car buyer ?? You sold it to a junk yard and now you are complaining in public because they paid you more than i offered for it?? What kind of person does that?? And YOU hung up on ME after i told you that i do not sell cars on payments i am not in the auto finance business
Tried selling a perfectly good running car to him for him to only offer me 100$ when I have a friend who sold him a car that didn't even run for 300$, Don't be fooled. He doesn't care about customer relations, he hung up on me after I asked him if he could work out a payment plan and denied my calls after that. This man is nothing more than a guy trying to make money off of your misfortune. I highly recommend taking your business anywhere else but to him, the junk yard paid me more for my running vehicle than he tried to offer me.
We bought a pre-owned car for $2,000. It's exactly what we paid for. It wasn't nothing fancy but it got us where we needed to be. Doug's a good guy he won't try to screw you over.
