Contacted Scott, owner of Rockdale Automotive. Explained to him that I burned up my clutch plate on my Jeep and that it was my only vehicle. Even though they had a ton of work, they fit me in immediately knowing my dilemma and fixed my Jeep

We had a minor problem on a road trip and happened to drive right by this place while avoiding 80. They fixed it up quick and didn't even charge us, let our kiddos use the restroom. Wonderful service and a lifesaver on our trip!!
All im going to say for the years ive been taking my work and physical, they can fix anything that ive experienced, electrical, etc and yes better than dealership. Issues your dealership cant fix call Scott at Rockdale, you can tell him J'Nean sent you.
Scott and his team are amazing. They figure out your issues, call you and Scott is VERY thorough in his explanation and what needs to be addressed now and what can wait. He even personally gives your vehicle a final inspection himself before he lets it go. They stand behind their work and warranty as well.
Bought a used car and wanted an inspection to make sure everything was in working order. They did a thorough job and explained everything to me in a clear way I could understand. The whole staff is so nice and the customer service is unmatched. Prices are very fair, and the bill is itemized so you know exactly what you're paying for. I happened to have a tire incident on 80 and got off on meadow to find a place to pull over and figure out what to do, I had no idea that Rockdale Automotive was right there but I am so glad that they were because they helped me get back on the road quickly and safely. They were very professional and kind and I really appreciate their service and help! I’d definitely come back for more service if needed.
They're honest and trustworthy. Most mechanics would leave you hanging until their next available appointment. They checked my car just to let me know if I could drive it until their next available appointment. They cared about my wellbeing over the dollar. Will be back.

I own a 1993 Mustang that’s not in the best condition. No matter what the problem is Scott and his team will get to the bottom of it every single time. These guys are awesome, they took care of me as soon as I walked in, instantly felt welcomed. They were honest and they took care of the issue I had with my car right away to get me back on the road as soon as possible!

Earlier this year, a work acquaintance highly praised Rockdale Auto to me and I decided to take my older model vehicle to them for an inspection and repairs. What I experienced was priceless. Why? Because the owner, Scott, explained everything to me in simple terms and the work performed was great! At the time my wife was driving this car to work (70 miles round trip), and we needed a reliable car. Scott and his staff made this happen by repairing the various issues and our vehicle has been driving great and sounds 100 times better. This kind of peace of mind is without a doubt priceless. Very happy with the service and repair by Rockdale. Was passing through Joliet last Friday and my truck died. Had it towed to this AAA recommended shop at about 2:00 AM. Left a message asking if it could possibly be repaired Saturday so we could continue home. The owner of Rockdale called promptly when they opened and then adjusted his schedule to get it repaired. He discovered that the alternator had gone bad and he discussed with me saying that the battery appeared to be ok but it was old and gave me the option whether to have it replaced rather than just doing it. This gave me confidence that I was dealing with a reputable shop. When done at 1 pm (amazing turnaround time) the owner was nice enough to pick us up at the hotel 5 miles from his shop and take us to pick up the truck (unbelievable service!). He had repaired the truck and charged what I felt was a reasonable fee - though he would not have had to as we had no other option. I will probably never have the opportunity to use this shop again, but if I lived in the area this would be my shop! I highly recommend them based on my experience with Rockdale.
would not recommend .poor follow though. dropped off my truck the night before for brake inspection,did not get a call back,had to call them at 4'00.then was told i needed almost all brake parts on the truck.,then if you question them they get snotty about it. took my truck to another shop and found out it was just brake pads and rotors.
As an auto mechanics teacher for 21 years, I'm really picky when I need work done on my truck that I can't do. I trust these guys to do the work right.
Although repairs are done well, they go through areas of your car that are not relevant to your repairs at the time. Why? To charge you more on services! Even if you decline the extra repairs, they still charge you additional labor fees for the time they took to look for other possible repairs. My 300 repair ended up being over 800 and they didn't even speak to ME about it. It's MY car, they didn't even call ME about it, they called my husband. Even he said he didn't authorize some repairs to be done but they did it anyway. When I talked to a guy there at pick up, all I got was a "What do you want me to do about it?" Make sure you deal with the OWNER, not the intimidating guy with the crossed arms and glasses. Nightmare.
So far I've been quite happy with my experiences with Rockdale Automotive and the owner has been great to talk to and very knowledgeable. Having only limited interface with them and the cost of the work I've had done to two vehicles, I was between a rating of four or five. I went with five because, at this point, I trust the owner and that is HUGE these days. I also much prefer to support a small local business. But again, the trust factor is very important when going to a small business as there is a direct connection to their income and their desire to recommend work that may or may not be necessary. I definitely like them and would recommend them at this point.
