My Mother in Laws car broke down and we called Whitmore's who promptly came and towed it to their shop. Thy did an amazing job fixing it up and getting back on the road again. I was stuck in snow on a steep driveway. One company showed up and bailed. Then Whitmore's showed up and had me out in minutes. Definitely will recommend them to anyone in need.
First of all, Julie in the front office is nothing but AMAZING. Kept me informed on ever aspect of my repair. Now Tom and Nick might be the best two mechanics I have ever met. The most professional guys in the business. Alanna (owner) was super friendly and made sure her staff was on top of my repairs. They had me back on the road in no time.
Responsive, reliable, great service. Called in to inquire about a battery and they installed the next day + checked the alternator to ensure that wasn't the cause for my car to malfunction. Very happy with their service thank you
Called Whitmore’s for service on a flat tire. They were able to fix the tire very quickly and reasonably. This is the second time we’ve needed service and received great fast service!
My most recent experience here … hmm I’d say terrible again considering I only went to use their bathroom. So basically as I was walking out of the bathroom Mitchell gave me “the one minute finger” while on the phone with another customer and I waited patiently assuming she just needed to ask me a question or possibly give me a refund for $100 since they over charged for my removal of my breathalyzer device which shouldn’t be more than $100 but they charged $250 anyway. I called the company that is for the device and they told me that THEY DO NOT CHARGE FOR REMOVAL ITS THE AUTO SHOPS CHOICE.they also said they would call the auto shop and find out why the price was so high… maybe they didn’t answer maybe they just disregarded the phone call. Anyway, she proceeded to tell me she saw my review and tried to explain and lie about how they get their prices from the company that deals with the device and I told her that I talked to people on the phone they told me you guys are the ones who decide the price (they called us while working on my car and asked where our cameras where because in Wisconsin we only have the main device in we don’t have cameras and other stuff just the one device and she said that that was weird so they were charging $250 for removal of three different devices and I ASKED I did not DEMAND any type of discount and they said no. I told them that I think I was misquoted and even though they didn’t spend 2 1/2 hours taking it out they still charged us for 2 1/2 hours basically saying they charge that amount for any type of removal). They never gave me a receipt or a itemized bill. I’m going to be calling the better business bureaus after that old lipstick lady had the audacity to say anything to me after over charging and all the rudeness from the day before when I had the device removed …..I had been waiting there for 5 hours on this tow company coming to pick my car up and there for couldn’t make it into work so a lot of extenuating circumstances you could say that I didn’t have time for that s$!t so I told her that I do not care and that my review stands and walked out… these people are a$$holes do not get work done at whitmores record service.
I can not give this place enough stars. They came to my rescue in a very stressful situation. They were patient, kind, informative and incredibly helpful. An amazing group of individuals. HIGHLY recommend. If you are in that area and need a tow, mechanical work, or a oil change his is the place to go. Nicholas and Tom (and the other guy that helped hook up my car) I will forever be indebted and the wonderful lady (owner?) who was at the shop ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. They are proof that there are still good, professional people out there. Thank you!

Whitmore's is that rare neighborhood auto repair shop that offers a full range of services, great customer service, honest explanations and excellent work. I like that they keep records and I can go online and view my vehicle's service history, too.
We can't say enough great things about Dane and this company! We were stranded on 94 in Gurnee on Memorial Day weekend after our car broke down. We tried using our auto insurance towing policy which left us hanging, called another company which again didn't pan out and we were so lucky to finally end up with WSI! Dane brought our car to an Algonquin dealership and then even brought us home as it was 1:30AM. He went over and above what he needed to do and to top it off, the price was very reasonable. If you are in need of any of WSI's services, please, please consider using them!
I could not have been happier with the service I received at Whitmore’s. As a women I always fear that I am going to be taken advantage of by mechanics by being talked into additional services (we’ve all heard the horror stories) but I felt at ease as soon as I entered Whitmore’s. I was greeted by the owner, who was so welcoming. She explained that the mechanic would take a look at my vehicle and let me know what they found needed repair and how much the parts and labor would be, prior to doing any of the work. I ended up needing back breaks, an oil change and a new filter. I was happy with the speed of the work and the price I paid. I was so impressed that I recommended my fiancé take his vehicle to Whitmore’s as well. My fiancé has been driving around in a car that hasn’t run quite right for a few years. We have been putting band-aid fixes on bigger problems just to make the car run. We weren’t sure who to trust and how much it would end up costing. I am happy say that Whitmore’s replaced his radiator and exhaust and the car is running like new. Whitmore’s just earned two additional loyal customers and I will gladly recommend them to anyone needing care repair or a tow!

Decided to go with these guys because they were showing to be only 4 miles away from my truck. Called in and spoke to Amber she advised me that it was $250 an hour and the time starts from when we called in also said they can be there within 40 minutes. Tow truck arrived at 11:28 AM his name was Tom. Long story short i told the driver to let me know when they arrived to the shop which she did; truck arrived to destination at 12:38 PM. All together from when the tow truck was called to when it arrived to the final destination it was just over an hour and a half.
Tom ends up calling for payment telling me I owe him $875 for 3 1/2 hours. I questioned him how he came up with that he got smart with me and said well you have to pay for my way back to the terminal. So now they charged me an extra two hours for him to drive 18 miles back to the terminal. Also tried to call the manager Randy he was no help either.

I locked my boyfriends keys in his truck and this man, we didn’t catch his name, came to our rescue in the forest preserves. Thank you so much! He was so nice and friendly. Recommended! I was in a car crash in unincorporated Lake County. Whitmore's has the contract with Lake County Sheriff's office for wrecker services. I had no other options to select from but Robert from Whitmore's showed up and he was very professional. Later I had easy access to my wrecked vehicle in their storage lot to access my personal items. The staff is very friendly and they worked seamlessly with my insurance. I never saw a bill from them.
