So I call you guys twice about a pickup from my house gave my address and everything waited all day and no one showed up. Then called back the very next day just to have someone else say we don’t do pickup, really so unpredictable.
First time visiting a scrap yard and wasn't really sure what to expect, but chose this place based on the good reviews. I had 120lbs of copper tubing from a plumbing renovation that I weighed beforehand.
I pulled into the covered warehouse and someone came to help me unload it from my trunk and sort between #1 and #2 copper. I had a rough idea of the differences, but he was much faster at sorting and was generous with his assessment. After weighing both carts, they totaled up to exactly the 120lb I was expecting, so no "scale cheating" as I had read in reviews from other places.

Gosh these guys are great! I had to drop off auto batteries yesterday for someone (I had no idea what I was doing) and they were so kind and helpful to me; so friendly and accomodating. I've been coming here for over a decade. Although ownership has changed, Suburban has maintained the most efficient, friendly service of any scrap yard in this area. Everything seemed on the up-and-up with the Suburban Scrap Metal Place I'd never been there before. And the man I spoke to on the phone he's not present at the actual location his name is Kelly he seemed nice enough. But then the gentleman behind the glass in the counter. He was going to cheat me on the weight. When I called him on it and I asked to weigh my metal by itself my copper he threw a fit and said he had too many people waiting, even though I had been waiting for him to get his computer fixed for half an hour. Ensure this is a dishonest business and I wouldn't go there if I were you high rated zero

I called to see if they were open and what kind of prices they were giving. They were giving the most. When I got there I thought was in the wrong spot it was so CLEAN! The attendant, Adrian I believe, was very polite and surprisingly HELPFUL. I always check for accuracy in weight and pay. They were honest and I was paid in CASH!
Best prices around. Very serviceable staff. I was thinking 100 bucks for my scrap brass. drove off with 270! also taught my kid to make money from what people call garbage! 2 birds 1 stone! Awesome experience!!
Suburban is ok if you know your metal. Just watch when taking in large hauls of various metals. Almost 160 lbs of #2 copper was paid out as steel. So if your paying attention, you're fine. But if you aren't familiar with metal types, or bringing in a valuable haul, I would recommend looking elsewhere
Best place to bring your scrap copper,Brass, Aluminum etc. They pay higher than anywhere else in the midwest. Highly Recommended. Pull up inside the warehouse and unload away from the weather. Plus the staff will assist with your load and carry it to the scale for you!!!
You drive into the facility--out of elements. People help you unload if you need. They wheel your scraps in a cart onto the scale. They will weigh separately according to type of metal you have. The price of metal will change each month or week, depending on the market. They pay cash and provide a detail receipt.

The past two times I've attempted to go here I drove over an hour there and they have been closed. I attempted to call before going there each time and no answer or voicemail stating they are closed. The only notice is a taped piece of paper on the entrance stating they are closed. Not happy at all; especially when this states they are open today.
