What clients say about City of Naperville Residential Electronics Recycling in Naperville (IL)

Good signage and helpful staff. I recommend checking the electronics recycling page on the Naperville city website before hauling your stuff here. The list of accepted items and fees could change slightly. I've called a number from the website (during typical business hours) to double check if I could drop off a certain item before and they did answer my question. They currently charge like $20 or $30 for large monitor or TV disposal. Last time I was able to pay the fee online and showed them the receipt in my email when I pulled up. The attendant seemed happy that he didn't have to deal with processing the fee, and of course it took less time to get through which helped the people behind me in line. If I just have a couple small electronics then I'd probably drop them off at a Best Buy or whoever else has collection bins, but if I have a whole box of stuff this is the easiest place for me to take it.

I have recently made multiple electronic recycling drop-offs. These experiences have been uniformly positive. The facility has been staffed every time I have visited, even right at closing time, and I have never had to wait for more than a couple of minutes. All staff, notably the gentleman who seems to be there most often, are super-friendly and informative when talking about what items they will take or not. I'm also not too concerned with having to pay a nominal amount for their "public service" of recycling an old tv away from a landfill (these are costly to process).

Was a little iffy because of other reviews talking about inconsistent opening time. But I was bere on a Monday at 2 and it was open. Service was friendly and easy.

The staff at the recycling center are always polite and informative.

The hours are super limited. The Google profile hours are not the actual hours. They also charge $35 to recycle tvs. So Much for a public service to keep the environment clean. This is the reason why people just dump their tvs in the forest. They make it expensive and time consuming to do the right thing. The guy was nice so I gave 2 stars instead of 1.

I've been there Monday and Saturday mornings with a heavy microwave and neither of those days was there any attendant on duty. I waited 10 mins each time and then just had to drive off. I still have a heavy microwave rattling around in the back of my car. I'm going to try again today, Wednesday, around 2 pm and edit this post if someone is actually there and takes the microwave out.

came with electronic waste 30 minutes before stated closing time and attendant said that section was closed. Why can't an organization get its hours right?

Pulled up at 9:15 AM, waited less than 5 minutes, 5 minutes to unload -- I had a lot -- and I was on my way. They leave your boxes in your trunk, so you can bring stuff in bins you want to keep. The attendants were very polite.

Keep in mind, the Recycling area including electronics, is provided to and managed by an outside contractor. The City provides periodic assistance to the contractor with loading trucks and moving large items. This has nothing to do with the household hazardous waste site. Those are City employees who are specially trained to identify and properly handle hazardous materials. The person(s) at the recycling site, even though right next door, are not trained, are not City employees, and by law can not take or handle any hazardous material. So it indeed makes perfect sense. A little fact searching before reviewing or complaining could easily explain what many would consider an inconvenience.

The DO take CRTs but cost $25 to deposit. Napervillee website states to not leave the car and clearly label the waste for attendant to remove. Attendant wouldn't get up.
