I brought my 2015 Chevy Sonic in for a suspected antifreeze leak in which they inspected it to be just a cracked cap for my reservoir. Not only was the service quick but he assured me that if I needed anything else to bring it back and they would check it out to assure it was fixed. Great service and hospitality will definitely recommend them.
My husband brought our 1997 Ford Box truck to this shop and they did a great job in fixing the transmission shift cable, fan clutch, and found a bypass kit for the trans cooler. Had them adjust the ignition timing on my suburban. They forgot to tighten the bolt on the distributor. Stalled in the middle of the road. After towing and repairs, came out to $400 out of my pocket due to their negligence. Thanks.
Used to go to these people 20 years ago, until I moved to Indiana. After trying nearly every auto repair shop near me and getting ripped off, I remembered how well I liked Herr Auto Repair. Although inconvenienty located in I took my 2002 auto into them and they found the problem and fixed it, at far less than expected. Glad to have re-found an honest repair shop!
Wish I would have found this place years ago. Tom runs an efficient and honest shop. I started with my work vehicle, a Mercedes sprinter full size van, and they've been done an exceptional job maintaining it. We moved to Steger about 10 years ago and had our regular mechanic in Dolton so we continued to go there for an additional few years. One day one of our vehicles needed an oil change and brakes so we decided to try this place since its right in back of our house. Long story short, we decided to give them our business because they were excellent. Tom (owner) is very good. He has a small crew that he's had for some years. The prices are reasonable with A+ service... Very happy we decided to give them a try.
Two shops looked at my truck and told me they didn’t want to work on it and brought it here and they fixed it in a matter of a few days. Great shop and great people. Will be coming back

They are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. had an issue with the insurance company who was leading me to a shop no longer in service. So frustrating. Luckily, we saw this shop on the way. They were so friendly and accommodating to my running in last min asking them to help and look at the car. They squeezed me in - and helped me with a smile. Would highly recommend. Friendly and fast service wouldn’t go anywhere else.

They got me right. I took my truck in for a leveling kit and wheel alignment; it took them a few hours to get it done, and most importantly, it wasn't there all day.
Excellent work. Nice people. I needed a front end alignment and thought I needed brakes. Herr and Sons stated that the brakes were fine and just aligned the front and back. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
Tom and family are great. Very trustworthy and reliable. Phillips Chevy quoted 6 repairs and $2450 to repair them. We towed our Silverado to Tom. Only 3 repairs were actually needed. He saved us over $2,200.

The one star is for coming to get me with my own car..dropped car off at 830am, wanted to wait but was told the car would not be ready for hours(needed two new tires and possible alignment )the man behind the counter made me feel unwelcome to wait for my car. I had no ride home. I walked almost all the way home, 3.5 hour walk. Then he called with a $500 quote and it would be a 2 day wait. His dad came and picked me up in my car and drove me back to their shop. Guy said he would call me when the tires came in..never called, over quoted me on the price...not sure why but this is the USA and you can just refuse service. Would never go again and would never suggest to anyone.
I've been going to Mr. Herr ever since I moved into the area 15 years ago on the advice of my wife and I've had nothing but good things to say about them in the years I've been giving them my business. They go above and beyond, they explain what they want to do and if there's anything major they call you before they do it so you have an idea of what's happening and whether or not you want to invest the expense.
