If you didn't know, all of the Suburban DMV offices are by appointment now - it's backed up a few weeks wherever you're looking. Now, the good part... for my DL renewal with a vision screening - I was in/out in around 15 min!!! And, this was at 9am!!
Later I went back to renew my plates & was in/out in 5!!
From the moment I entered the Schaumburg facility...Til it was all complete...EVERYONE kind, informative. and so nice... Each was so helpful..They deserve a great BIG Thanks for doing such a good job..

I had a very disappointing experience with one of the representatives, Kyle, at the Schaumburg DMV. He was extremely rude and arrogant during our call. Without my consent, he canceled my appointment, didn’t let me finish my question, and abruptly hung up the phone. This behavior is unacceptable, especially from someone representing a public service office. I hope management addresses this issue to ensure better customer service in the future.
Very well run facility. Believe it or not the staff on hand was receptive, helpful and very welcoming to the citizens who needed their professional service. Thanks everyone at this suburban location.
Schaumburg Secretary of State Office
Today, I accompanied my mother to the Schaumburg Secretary of State office to obtain her state ID. During the photo-taking process, I pointed to the blue circle on the camera to help my mother, who has difficulty seeing. At that moment, the staff member taking the photo unexpectedly slapped my hand.
She later apologized and explained that employees are instructed not to allow anyone to touch the equipment. I clarified that I was not touching the device—only pointing to assist my mother.
After my mother’s paperwork was complete, I reported the incident to the supervisor and requested that they review the camera footage. I did not expect to be physically struck while trying to assist my mother, especially in a government office. It was an upsetting and unprofessional experience.
The employee in question was a woman with an accent, glasses, and brunette hair. Despite the incident, I want to express my appreciation to the supervisor on duty today for taking my report seriously. I hope steps will be taken to ensure better customer service and appropriate conduct in the future.
The best experience I had in the DMV. Everyone helped me out and got the process going smoothly. Everyone treated me with respect. Hands down the best location.
5/20/25. Went to update the tillte in my car ,I been in window 21. I been attended for a black lady, with a horrible actitud , dint answer my question ,she said I highlighted. Allready and I told you exacly what to do ,that was her answer.. + horrible way to do her job ....I dont know ,what this people is doing here...
I took my daughter to renew their state ID.
We were in and out in less than 20 minutes. Everyone she spoke to was very friendly. The whole process was very fast & efficient.

I had an appointment for today. I looked up on the website AND I called ahead of time to ask what documentation I needed. So I brought everything I needed and apparently the website was incorrect AND the person on the phone was incorrect and I needed additional documents and so I had to forfeit my appointment and the lady was very rude. Very frustrated with this.

My mom and I visited this location this morning at around 9:50 to 10 am to get my license renewed because I turned 21. The front desk, cashier, people working towards the left of the facility near the cashier, and the workers in the back where you get your temporary license were all super friendly. I don’t know what’s up with the woman working at desk #17 this morning. I wish they had name tags because I couldn't catch her name but she has dark hair, a raspy voice i don't even know like a slight jersey accent, and is on the shorter and younger side but she was incredibly unprofessional and rude. I walked up with a smile and just tried to be friendly and respectful but I was never greeted… not even a hello and she never even looked up and made eye contact with me once. When talking to me she would talk in a rude tone. Then she stopped working and started talking to the workers next to her about something irrelevant with a completely different tone and then would type in my info in the computer while still talking to them about the irrelevant thing. I had to take a vision test so she said to me “Go over to the machine to the right and read line 5.” Not explaining anything just pointing to the machine. I went over and just saw a black screen and then she says in a loud and rude tone “YOU HAVE TO PRESS YOUR FOREHEAD ON THE MACHINE.” My mom was with me but she said while I was reading off the letters on the test, she was talking with her coworkers and not even paying attention to me. Then she asks if I can see flashing lights on the sides next to the numbers. then proceeds to talk to her coworkers again and I said no at first but she kept asking me if I see any flashing lights in the left right or both. I said “I don’t see any flashing lights” and I didn’t get a response from her so I looked up and saw her not even paying attention to me. Her hand was on the machine but she was looking elsewhere. Towards the end when I got up and looked at her and said I don’t see anything, then I saw the machine turn on. I placed my face on the machine and FINALLY when she paid attention to me, she turned the lights on so in the end I saw flashing lights on both sides. That test is suppose to be super quick like 30 seconds but it literally took 3 mins for the test to be over. I don’t even know if that’s legal to just be talking to your coworkers when someone is taking a vision test because I can be saying a wrong letters (and I did at first and still didn’t get a response from her) but she would let me pass anyway because she wasn’t paying attention. She showed absolutely no professionalism and also no interest in us. only her coworkers and what they were talking about. When asked a series of questions like if I want to be an organ doner I had to stop and think about it as one would… but as I was thinking she would say it a second time louder like “DO YOU WANT TO BECOME AN ORGAN DONER YES OR NO.” with an irritated tone. She didn't even give me 5 seconds to think. Every single worker that helped me was so friendly and helpful. She’s the only one who is unprofessional and rude. I have to know everything myself and if I ask a question or ask her to repeat something because I couldn’t hear her she will get irritated and yell at me. I am young, fluent in English, and was raised here but I can't even begin to imagine this behavior to the elderly, handicapped, or to people when English isn’t their first language… I understand people can have a bad day… They don’t have to be extremely nice but when working in a service job you are here to help people but with workers like this… I instantly left in a bitter mood because of her and only her.
I don't know what happened with the Secretary of State, but it was amazing experience. Service and customer care have improved. Everything is very fast, clear, and simple. People are friendly and very nice. Thank you.
Today's visit was the best experience at the Secretary of States office in 33 years! 10 minutes in the office is all it took to get a license renewal and Real ID. No more long lines! Grab an appointment in the morning and visit at the scheduled time. You will be in and out in no time. The staff there are happy, friendly, and so helpful!
Line was wrapped around the former REI and took 2 hours to get in the door.
Additional 1 hour once inside, waiting for pics, waiting to review paperwork, wait to pay.
They would periodically review paperwork and confirm people had what was needed for their transactions. Most people are getting real IDS which takes longer or renewing drivers license. Car stickers are faster and don’t wait in the queue. Also high priority service for seniors, pregnant, and persons with disabilities. Go to door don’t wait in queue.
