Absolute trash company. They quoted me $230, showed up, and then suddenly changed the price to $500 like that's normal. Classic bait and switch. In a big city with plenty of options, they still choose to operate like scammers. Completely dishonest, zero integrity, and zero respect for customers. Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy being RIPPED OFF.
quoted for a tow then charged nearly double then when trying to cancel after they finally gave full bill, they charged $300 to have my not running car dropped in the middle of lombard, no where near where it got taken from or where it needs to go.
Totally overpriced and seems scammy!!! Was given the price of $125 plus $4 per mile (car was towed 2.5 miles from home). Price ended up being $250! Also, my car was taken to the dealer where the dealer claimed they couldn't locate my car for a few hours. Was told by a lady at the towing company that the driver took the car where it was supposed to go and he took "pictures" where it was dropped off at. When I called back about obtaining said pictures to send to the dealer, suddenly noone would call me back! Thank god my car was located before the police were involved. STAY AWAY!
The company is a scam. The total price of a tow was 3 times more than what I was told over the phone. When I tried to talk to them the guy told that's what they charge and hung up on me. Very, very dissatisfied and disappointed. Do not call this tow company.
I had a terrible experience with Speeding G Towing Service. This company is misleading and feels like a scam.
Before the tow, I was told the rate would be $4 per mile. The actual tow distance was about 18 miles, yet I was charged $525. At no point did they disclose the total cost upfront, and when I questioned the bill afterward, I was told “that’s not my problem, this is what we charge.”
Here is how they broke down the charges:
Unloaded / Enroute Mileage: 16 miles × $4 = $64
Loaded / Hooked Mileage: 21 miles × $4 = $84
Tow / Hook Fee: $195
Dead Head Mileage: 32 miles × $4 = $128
Fuel Surcharge: $54
This pricing structure was never explained in advance, and the multiple mileage charges feel intentionally confusing and deceptive. I would never have agreed to the tow if the real cost had been disclosed.
I do not recommend this company to anyone. Very unprofessional, misleading pricing, and zero customer care. If I could give zero stars, I would.
Extremely disappointed. I was quoted $495 per hour and the tow took about 9 minutes. No contract was signed, no written estimate was provided, and I was told to go home and that they would send the invoice later. The invoice arrived for $2,600, including multiple charges that were never explained or authorized. I had to pay under protest only because I needed my truck for work. Please ask for a written estimate and full breakdown before allowing any service.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Towed my vehicle from my house to a buddy’s house. Said 225 for hookup plus $4 a mile. Went from Roselle to Melrose park about 15 miles charged me 450. Way over charged. Total rip off !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avoid at all costs. They are total scammers. The price they will tell you to pay after the tow does not line up with the price they told you before the tow.
One of our drivers got stuck at his pickup …it was not even on a busy street or anything …it was at the pickup parking lot….one side of his drives that went off the pavement and needed to be pulled out.. driver called these guys thinking it shouldn’t be more then $400-$600 for a 10 second pull if that… after all set and done guy gave him the bill for $2200… this is the most ridiculous towing price i have ever heard in 15 years of doing this… make sure you ask them the price before you have them do work for you… our driver was low on his hrs and in a hurry so he didn’t ask them but thats just ridiculous and a rip off… 0 stars….
If I could give zero stars, I would. This company is not just a rip-off; they’re outright threatening. After hitting me with a completely outrageous bill for a few minutes of work, the driver actually took my keys and locked my truck door so I couldn't get it back until I agreed to pay. This is beyond bad service—it's borderline extortion. I strongly warn everyone to stay far away from this company. They do not deserve anyone’s business.
Use a different tow company. This company is predatory and fraudulent. They will provide no estimate before towing and then over charge 3 or 4 times normal pricing, while holding your car hostage until payment is made. They illegally charge 7% fee on credit card charges. $2800 charge for a simple removal tow, have had this performed several times previously for $500-1000
We recently called this company for a basic winch-out on an empty semi truck and trailer that was stuck on snow and ice. They never disclosed any pricing before dispatching or performing the service. After pulling the truck out, they presented a bill for $5,572. For comparison, we had a nearly identical winch-out done the day before by another company for $650, which is typical for the industry. When we questioned the charges, the operator refused to unhook or release our truck until the full amount was paid. This experience felt extremely predatory and completely unreasonable. I strongly recommend getting written pricing upfront or using another towing service. We have reported them to the Attorney Generals office in both the State of Illinois and State of Missouri in hopes that they will intervene with this predatory company!
Never trust this people. They charge insane amount. At first they tell the price and then after the job is done they ask for bigger amount and hook the truck, take the keys. We called police on them . Worst towing ever, just scammers. Please avoid them unless you want fair business.
One price on the phone but be ready to pay a completely different price once you get to your destination. Get the pricing before you agree to anything. Unmentioned +6.75% convince fee because they like cash to avoid taxes
We were told they would be there in half an hour.And it took over an hour. We were told $125 hook up and 4 dollars per mile. After my husband had to help them with the hook up, they took the car three point three miles. They charged us $325. When I called to question, they said they would call back, but never did. We still have not heard back from them. The saddest part is, I have never had to leave a bad review for anyone before
horrid customer service. was misquoted on the price and even after calling back to talk about it, nothing was offered as a courtesy, and after doing the math on their charges I was still charged more based on what they told me I was being charged. person on the phone was dismissive and rude. definitely will never be using this service again and will not be recommending this service to anyone. they’re just looking to make a quick buck.
My dad called to get a tow and was given a number. After they completed the tow, they charged him double the amount through hidden fees. This is absolutely a scam and really predatory on people who find themselves in a vulnerable position. Stay away from this towing company
DO NOT WORK WITH THIS BUSINESS!!!!! They had originally quoted me $150 for loading a piece of equipment, once it was loaded into their truck they told me it would be $400 or they would take it. The absolute worst to deal with, and just a group of thieves trying to scam people.
Worst company every. Prime example of bagtowing company. When they tell you its $1500 to tow your truck be prepared to pay tripple that amount. Fuel surcharge $550 for 10 miles tow. I hope news company gets hold of them and really give them the advertisment they deserve.
Overpriced without transparent pricing. Their price to jump a car was $240. The average is under $100. They did not provide pricing until it was done. This borderlines on dishonesty. Would never recommend this company.
I had one of the worst experiences ever with this towing company. When I first called, they quoted me $295 for a 7-mile tow. I agreed to the price and they came to tow my truck.
When we arrived at the shop, the driver suddenly refused to drop my truck unless I paid him immediately. I told him I was ready to pay either right then or once he unhooked, but he went back to his truck and kept me waiting for 15–20 minutes. Then, out of nowhere, he came back and said the price was $3,040.95.
I thought he meant $340.95, but he insisted it was over three thousand dollars. Completely shocked, I argued, but they wouldn’t release my truck. We even had to call the police, but the officer said he couldn’t help.
The tow truck driver then hauled my truck away to their shop 11 miles further, and once I went there, they tried to charge me $4,000 total for the “service.”
This is blatant scamming and extortion. I am now taking this issue to court, but I want to warn others: never trust this company. They lure you in with a low quote, then trap you and jack up the price thousands of dollars once they have your vehicle.
Stay far away from them. Save yourself the headache, the money, and the stress.
My car blew a front tire on the highway early one morning a couple weeks ago. Bang! and I damn near rolled off the shoulder and down the hill.
I immediately called DJ Auto Service (an excellent service shop I might add) but they weren't open yet. However, they recorded voice recommended Speedy G, and I decided to take their advice.
At first they told me it would be a couple of hours. Okay, whatever, I just put on some music and sat back. Then they call back and they say they'll have someone there in thirty minutes. Sure enough, a very sharp, competent young man appeared, loaded my minivan and away we went.
If I’m not contacted back about my tow I’m contacting the attorney general with the amount of similar stories on here. SCAMMERS. LIARS.
0 stars. Dispatch sent someone that was 27 miles away and purposefully left out the fact that I had to pay for enroute mileage ($4) per mile. They told me every other cost than that. Driver showed up and left out the fact that I had to pay for that before hooking my car on his truck.
They said $125 hook up fee plus $4 per mile to destination (9 miles), +20% in fees. Cool makes sense. Once he hooked my car to his tow the driver told me “that’ll be $365” - so I said absolutely not and to unhook my car then. The driver said there nothing he could do at that point and he again didn’t even explain the 100+ dollar difference (enroute mileage + 20% of that, $120+ ), he said at this point you can take it up with billing or that he’d charge me $200+ dollars to unhook. Driver didn’t want to show me itemized receipt for the bill because he knew he left out the 27 mile trip to me.
The dispatch and the driver knew 100% well that if I knew that was a fee they charged, that I would have went with a different company. Instead of being a good person and letting me use another company they chose to charge me double for their service.
Dispatch said billing would help me get the charge reversed, then billing said they can do absolutely nothing for me. Billing said they’d connect me with the manager but I never received communication or their contact information.
0/10 - Please Read - This tow company is a scam. They will provide one quote on the phone and leave out key information which doubles the price when you get to the location. The tech driver also would not release the car until payment was completed and made it extremely uncomfortable. I attempted to reason with the driver along with the customer support to better understand the pricing calculations and math and both told me "I am just a employee here and it's not my problem." Do not use this tow company.
Charged me over $400 dollars for a 14 mile tow. Absolute rip off. Should have read the reviews before calling them and that’s my fault. 100% will never use again and absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND this service
I have always recommended speedy G to family members and friends. However my mom needed a tow truck for some car issues. I said call speedy G I always had a good experience. However today that changed. My mom needed a 5 minute tow to a shop. When she called they said it would be 125 plus 4 dollar a mile. The total mileage to the place was 3 miles. They charger her 350 and a fuel surcharge!!!! I don’t know if this is how they deal with the elderly. I went from recommending to saying stay far away. Disappointed in this company who I have trusted for 8 years at least.
I used this service today. Nice service and polite on the phone but before you use this company make sure you ask about all the hidden fees. They charge for mileage before they even get to you. There is a convenience charge on top of the towing fee. Deadhead fee, loading and unloading … etc - by the time I had to pay - it was triple the amount I was quoted over the phone.
I had an awesome experience with Speedy G Towing! A large heavy object was in the middle of I -290 and could not avoid it. My tire exploded and had to get off on a very dangerous part of the road. Speedy G Towing had a quick response, with quick tire change and outstanding customer service. Prices are very reasonable. I would give them more stars if i could. I have been a google guide for over 8 years and have posted thousands of reviews and millions of views. I will say that Speedy G Recovery is at the top of my list because the saved my life literally. I Highly recommend using them.
They damaged my car and refused to pay for the damages. As they were putting my car on the flat bed, the car became loose and rolled down a ditch near some train tracks. They Wanted me to take it to a shop of their choosing probably to do the cheapest job possible. I did not want after market parts on my vehicle because I bought it brand new and never crashed it. Then they refused to give me the number and address to the shop. Here some pictures from that day. They also blocked my number so I am not able to call them anymore and bother them.
