Well under the most favorable rates for aluminum auto wheels; but it wasn't worth shopping around for my small transaction. They gave me the correct information when I called ahead, and drop-off was reasonably efficient and professional.
Great prices and great people. It's the first time I've been to a scrap yard where I didn't feel they were ripping me off. The gentleman was also very helpful with a few questions I had on misc items, opposed to being annoyed from questions from someone who isn't a full time scrapper. Getting in and out might be a little difficult if they were very busy, but it's worth the inconvenience and was 100% fine around 9:30 AM on a Monday morning.
Tips for newbies: park in the parking spaces; they recycle metals only; if you have a lot of metal they will bring a mini dumpster to you via forklift; you get paid in cash; steel was 4 cents per lb during my visit. Staff was polite.
Came to drop off 16 foot garage door panels. Some short skinny guy started complaining that I should cut the panels because it is not worth it for them to do it. I find this ridiculous. It doesn't help that they have the lowest exchange rate compared to other recycling companies. Terrible experience

I brought in some scrap metal today and after weighing it they told me it is $40 a ton of steel and I told them that C&J was at $120 a ton a of steel. I don't understand how a Schaumburg company can cheat their customers out of 2/3 of market value. This place should not be allowed to operate cheating people like this.

We are lucky to have recycling local to Schaumburg. Just knowing that dropped off metal is not heading to a landfill. Plus, you can make a few pennies for the effort.
