Terry and rest of the people at Chicago U-Pic-A-Part were an amazing help to Phi Kappa Psi in our last fundraiser, which helped raise over $500 for a school to help fund new science equipment. Terry was a wonderful help and got us a car to use and towed it to and from the location making the entire event much easier and allowed for maximum donation to the school. They helped us pick a car, get it to and from the site and were assisting us in every way possible to assure the event went smoothly. We cannot thank Terry and the entire crew at Chicago U-Pic-A-Part enough for playing such a major role in our fundraiser!

This place is a really huge junkyard with plenty of cars and parts to choose from. The price may vary but for some things, the price is too high and for others, the price is too low, so I guess it compensates. Overall it's a good spot to get apart that you might need, from the body to the engine.

1 the system was down and they didn't say anything when I came here. 2 i tried to return my part 1 hr later they said no returns today the system is down. They weren't sure when it will be up. 3 I called and came the next day to return my part. They don't do returns, only store credit. Even if you pay cash. I have no idea when I will be back to get another part. Basically this place traps your money if the parts you pulled don't fit. I definitely will not recommend this place. Plus they have no inventory of the vehicles they have, so you have to walk around first in the lot to look if they have your vehicle, but you have to pay $2 just to look and if they don't have your car your out $2. No refund or store credit. I tried looking them up in the BBB I couldn't find them. So everyone be prepared to pay 2 dollars weather they have your vehicle or not, also if you pull a part and it doesn't work or fit, you won't get your money back. You have to wait some other day and spend another $2 to walk around and see if they have your vehicle. No telling when they will have your vehicle so you could spend 2 dollars every time you come and they don't have your vehicle. Plus you can't get your money back just store credit. Whatever you do don't lose that customer copy with your store credit, then you'll never get your money at all. Unfortunately I have to come another time and spend another 2 dollars and do the whole cycle over again. I would give this place no stars.

Nickelson Dimeshoe. That's the name I've given to the worst attendant on the lot. When he tries to overcharge me, I explain that if he likes the part THAT much, then I guess he can keep it. The Hispanic lady is sweet. Big dude in overalls is great (I don't see him anymore). Security personnel are always pleasant. Nickelson Dimeshoe (nickels and dimes you) will ruin your experience. (Old white guy, prolly late 50s, white hair). No inventory system. New cars are added sporadically (not on a schedule, usually in the afternoons, not everyday). Relative to other yards (victory, LKQ) their prices are in the middle (unless you get one of the wrong attendants... explained above) (victory's prices are high, with $0 admission, LKQ's prices are low, with $3 admission). I still go here once a week, and it's good for some parts, (nothing with electronics) but the $2 admission makes coming away empty handed, or getting the wrong attendant, that much more unpleasant and expensive. Refunds are given as store credit here. LKQ will refund your card(actual money). LKQ is my fav, Victory is my second fav, and U-Pic-A-Part comes in at a distant third. They're just unpleasant here, and happy to see you walk out empty-handed after they attempt to overcharge. I guess they still keep your $2, you waste YOUR time removing the part, THEY keep the part you removed, and they'll still make their money when they scrap the vehicle if they sell nothing off of it. Good business model, but no good if you're a customer. And you get the feeling that it makes them giggle. I just feel bad for the people who actually pay the outrageous prices, usually because they've spent so much time removing the part. I'm sure that that makes them giggle more. Go to LKQ. It's miles better! When you buy several parts there, sometimes they won't even charge you for the smaller plastic stuff. (got a sweet cupholder for free the other day, when I bought two rearview mirrors. Love me some LKQ!) Makes me laugh at U-Pic-A-Part. The world will be a slightly better place when they close their doors... or come under some new management... I wish them luck.
