We just came through there with a lot of prepared steel and other scrap and a vehicle, we weighed inand they unloaded us and we weighed out and walked inside to be paid and we figured we would get quite a bit but No, we got a whole whopping $132 for 4,420 net pounds, this place is CHEAP and I don't recommend going to United Scrap Metal, they will screw you over everytime without a doubt
But the thing that sucks is they have a monopoly for this area they ran everybody else out so you have no choice but to go to them.
We could not be more pleased with United Metals. Every interaction we have had with them has been so positive, from taking in loads of metal and old fridges to having them come out and clean up a property for us. Amy is so professional and knowledgeable.
I will NEVER do business with United Metal ever again. Took in a load of metal....200 lbs worth....they paid us $0.75 cents FOR 200 LBS!!! Also had 10 lbs of aluminum was paid $ 1.20 for that. Had our daughter take in our two 30 gallon bags of pop cans...they gave her $2.40 for the cans!!! When I went in to question their prices of course they argued...they couldn't give me a good reason on the metal except that it was a fair price that it's what it is going for.....on the aluminum I was told that it depends on the type of aluminum it is. I did not know there was different kinds of aluminum???? The MAIN reason for my ATTITUDE as I was walking out I told Allan that I was going to let my dad know that it would not be worth his gas to bring his metal in that the dump is closer....the man says back " Yea have your dad go ahead and take it to the dump...we will go collect it from there and make some money." I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS THERE AGAIN!!! Not to mention when my husband tried to get out of the car to get the pop cans out because of his knees operation he had he almost fell....MY DAUGHTER WITNESSED TWO OF THE EMPLOYEES WATCHING HIM BUST OUT LAUGHING AND WALK AWAY!!! WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS ARE THEY RUNNING???? And if it is questioned... I DID call and price other Recycling Facilities....Pacific in Twin Falls for one told me for my 200 lbs of metal if in poor condition would get me AT LEAST $4.00!! If it was upper grade I would get $6 or more. So tell me how 75 cents was fair. Not to mention the aluminum. I will hold my recycling until I have to make a trip to Twin Falls from now on.
How is it okay for employees to laugh at customers…seriously. Had my child not been with me something would have been said. My elderly father was walking to take cans up where they ask them to go and he has a very hard time walking. He literally almost fell and instead of these ruthless, heartless employees asking “sir are you okay, can we help at all..” they laughed. Yes LAUGHED AT MY ELDERLY DAD ALMOST FALLING!!!!! Some people have no decency. I am still dumbfounded completely..maybe upper management can have a conversation with their employees about how to be respectful decent humans…
They have lowest metal prices around ,not to mention I bring prepared iron and they give me tin prices .I've been there over a dozen times every time I get screwed over . Took a pickup load a full pickup load full of prepared iron and get 13 bucks for it next day went to twin and got 80 for same size load if not smaller. Want to get burned go to united metals in burley idaho Amy will fix you right up
Had the same situation with the tin and appliance price but went back in after I looked at the receipt and the scale man made it correct right away. My experience yesterday was totally different. Had a piece of equipment that I had been tearing down until I could get it on my trailer. Everything taken in was priced at $120+ for non prep iron. When it was torn down enough to get it on my trailer, took the rest in. Got back in my vehicle and saw it was priced at $50 a ton. Went back in instantly and asked why. Was told that is what they paid for old equipment. Was 4:30 and a bunch of people there so I left. Bothered me all night. Had a few more smaller things off the same piece of equipment to take in so I did so I could ask again why 65% less than everything else I had delivered off the same piece of equipment. Was told the yard guys make that determination and that’s how it is. No attempt at making things right for a bunch of great iron taken in. Went to a competitor and showed them pictures as I had pictures of it loaded as I delivered it. Competitor said they would have paid $120 no problem. I guess they have no problem taking advantage if they see fit. Will be going down the road from now on.
I had a trailer full but I had everything separated they took the heaviest items like full suspension HD springs and semi rims and unloaded them by hand then told me to pull over to the Tin section for the rest. Then had me scale again. When I went in all of my heavy steel options was ran under tin. Had to confront them to make it right or load the heavy metal back in to my trailer. Hopefully the next time they will be more inclined to give a fair price and do the job correctly. I'll change my review based on how my next load goes
Does not close on time closest 30 minutes before even though the hours states 5 o'clock. No, gates were open, nothing Not confident ongoing back again.
Excellent experience with the top notch crew in the yard which extends to the people working in the office. They have awesome equipment to safely unload and get you out the door as fast as possible. Hands down it is the best operation I have dealt with in Idaho. I will not be going anywhere else!
They told me to never come back for no reason! I will never take my metal to them again so disrespectful so unprofessional that's not something you say to a customer EVER!!!

Since the early days of metal refining, recycled pieces was a necessary component. Scrap iron, in particular, was part of the recipe for steel production.
Recycling steel, copper, brass and aluminum is big business. Recently we did a yard cleanup, including our aluminum cans, and turned them all into cash.
No longer usable farm equipment, and metal yard furniture, barbecues, etc are valuable for reuse. If you're in Magic Valley or nearby, turn your waste metal into cash.

Amazing office staff and quick friendly service. We have 2 of their metal bins at Element Heating and Cooling in Burley, and they have never let us down with prompt pickup and delivery.
