In town for sons hockey- local bistro, authentic people with a great vibe. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were more than fair. One of those places that just feels right. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!
We were returning home from the Big Hole hungry and tired and picked this place out of Google Maps. Food was excellent and staff was motivated for us to want to come back. Kitchen could not be simpler, but menu variety met our needs so well that we plan our adventures in that area to end the day hungry at the junkyard.
Great food and atmosphere in a narrow bar-style joint with a few extra tables out back. We ate at the long bar. Likely difficult to find a seat at busy times. Large servings. I has pasta in marinara sauce with shrimp. Menu said at least six nice-sizes shrimp, but my co-diner and I each received ten. Great salads and sandwiches. Highly recommend!
Great stop on my journey. Pleasant and friendly staff. My chicken coconut curry with vegetables over rice was very tasty and the portion sufficient. The music is classic rock-and-roll. I am steadied now for the next several hours of driving through this fabulous territory.
Stopped by this little place late in the evening, not knowing what to expect. This is a small restaurant with a tiny open kitchen, that manages to bust out phenomenal food!
We were extremely impressed and will definitely be back the next time we come to Salmon.

The food was delicious and the server was very polite. The atmosphere was nice dog friendly and if your dog is nice, they might get a treat. I do recommend this place. Enjoy.
I tried the Mongolian beef stir-fry. It was mostly noodles, very little beef or vegetables. I can't recommend that dish. My wife and daughter had the burgers. They were large and lots of extras with a very impressive side salad. There are about 5 tables that seat 4 or 5 each. And about 6 two tops. About 12 people could sit at the bar.
Started with pork and seeds; came with cucumbers and lettuce. I had the chipotle soup and garlic hamburger; both good. My wife had the Mongolian Beef; monster portion. Staff refilled drinks. Food was hot.
What a gem in the beautiful area of Salmon. By far, it is the best place to eat in the area with incredible service and food options. I have eaten there over 5 times, and it always impresses me. The food is delicious, but inwouod say they do an incredible job on the presentation. I have had their burgers and different pastas or mac and cheese, but their appetizers never disappoint. I almost would go just for those. I chose this time to get the mac and cheese and add chicken but without the Buffalo sauce. Last time with the Buffalo sauce, it was just too hot for me, but that is my preference. The dish was perfect and tasted wonderful. It is a cheesy, almost Alfredo sauce that is creamy and light tasting.
It is truly a place I will always return any time I am in Salmon.

Super awesome waitress tonight for us 2 at the little side table by the door.
Bad@$$ veggie pasta & Caesar side salad & the peanut noodle thing was fabulous.
Tight quarters and just on a Saturday evening, but great vibe, I'll be back again!
This was the best lunch on our 3,000 mile bike trip from Dublin California to Spearfish SD.
Staff - Service & Food was excellent. The Mongolian Beef Fusion Bowl was delicious.
As was the adult grilled cheese & soup. This is definitely a must stop if you are passing through town!!!
This place was AMAZING. The food was several steps above what the exterior led me to expect. Beer selection was good, once again, food was amazing. We got Japanes bbq pork for an appetizer, wife got a veggie grilled cheese (looked like a salad on bread), with creamy garlic tomato soup. I tried the soup. Unctious, tomato flavor hard then slight garlic and salt aftertaste. I had buffalo chicken mac n cheese with a ceasar salad, it was absolutely incredible and huge!
This restaurant is in an old repurposed saloon which makes it feel very tight and crowded. The food was mediocre. I had the gnocchi. It was bland and uninspired. They got my order wrong. I asked for no tomatoes but got them anyway. The flat bread was off the shelf and not warmed. The side salad was okay.
Amazing food!! You have to try this place while you are in Salmon, ID. Heck, I'd go out of my way to have a meal at Junkyard Bistro! I highly highly recommend! I had the Vietnamese specialty hot sandwich and it was amazing!! Same goes for the chicken salad sandwich! I will be back to try even more of their menu.
We went to Junkyard Bistro right after fishing in North Fork. It was such a great experience. We loved the atmosphere. Our food was timely and I really loved the Gnocci I was served. We will definitely have to stop back by on our way through.
Great garlic burger, the aioli sauce was on point. I would definitely return in future and suggest other to try this place out. Next time I will try the house salad dressing next time as the blue cheese dressing consists of just crumbles.
We had a party of 15 and we sat outback to help not disturb their other customers, I got the turkey bacon Gouda sandwich and it was delicious along with the other food we got and it came out in a timely manner! However the service was disgustingly bad and absolutely rude. None of us could get a refill and when we asked she said “she’s too busy and she has other tables to take care of”. I understand things get busy and people get flustered but the second time she said it a person from our group went inside to get it their own and they were told “go wait at your table your server will get it”. When we were finishing our meal the same server from before came back and told us “when you guys are done come up to the front and tell me what you got to pay” in doing so we seen that they weren’t busy and even if it had slowed down during the time it took us to eat there were about 6 tables inside.
I stumbled upon Junkyard Bistro while here in Salmon for a hockey tournament and boy am I glad I did! The food was delicious and the servers were friendly! I give this place 5 stars, but only because they don't have a 6th star option. If they did, it would be a solid 10. Keep up the great work, Junkyard Bistro! You're a diamond in the rough.
Well first of all kudos to the great atmosphere the bistro has the service is phenomenal.
I loved how all the workers worked together the cooks the dishwasher the waiters. Clean and friendly and delicious I had the coconut curry that was recommended by one of the. Reviews I read ❤️
If you're in Salmon Idaho this is a must. Had the BS burger with potato salad (in my top 5 burgers). Wife had Bahn MI sandwich she said it was great. We also got homemade 2 different cheese cake Oreo and double chocolate.
The food was good, the delivery of the food was ON point and the back patio was very nice with all of the heaters. This is a dog friendly restaurant but only outside, which was fine for us. From the back patio you can see the mountains which was also nice. The only alcohol they sell are canned, but a good selection.
Great little hole in wall. You will be surprised how good this food is. Get a Burger and their Mac and Cheese! Great service by a girl who has been working there for 11 years.

A small bistro in a fishing and sportsman’s paradise. Generous portions at a reasonable price. Limited seating but it turns fast. The pasta or sandwiches are more than many places offer. A interesting combo is a French dip with some bacon on it. It gives you a interesting flavor of 2 meats. You will not be disappointed.
A true 'hole in the wall' in the best of ways. The menu is varied, providing options for most diners, from Mongolian noodles, to sandwiches, to build your own pastas. And the quality each time I have been here has been top notch. It looks like a tiny bar from first glance but their menu holds gems I would expect at a truly fantastic restaurant.
Wow, this place far exceeded my expectations! Clean, great menu (especially for rural Idaho), kind service, fun theme to the place. Overall. Very good experience. The menu has Italian, burgers, sandwiches, salads. In fact, I ordered gnocchi...yah, that's right, potato flour pasta balls and they were excellent. It came with a salad that looked better than most I have ever had. I had 45 mins to eat and get to a meeting but that wasn't a problem because I was in and out in 30 mins.
We were just passing through this town and needed a bite to eat..... we found this place which had a patio out back that was dog friendly..... a must for us on hot road trip days. The waitress brought our dog a bowl of water too. I had the Turkey Gouda wrap and oh my.... yum! The mr. had a buffalo sandwich which he loved also. This lunch was just soooo yummy. We compared all future meals on the trip to this one and nothing even compared! And to think we almost didn't stop. Now that we know it is there we will stop again if we are ever close!
