Fine people. Didn’t catch what was wrong with my car. Said it was a low battery. Didn’t offer that they could replace it. When I went to do it myself it won’t start, my antitheft is stuck on and my driver side door won’t lock. All things I paid them to find and offer to fix. They rushed through things and didn’t give me any options. Now I’m stuck with a no -working car.

With many choices on options for car service Garys Automotive stands out with fantastic customer service, honest repair suggestions, and fair pricing. I was very grateful for the shuttle service they provide so I could drop my car off and go to work. I will absolutely be coming back!

They are amazing and did a lot to go out of their way to help me when no other shop would in regards to picking up a vehicle from a dealer to do a PPI when no other shop would get it for me! 10/10 service

Excellent service all the way around, fair prices, and more updates than I've ever experienced by any shop. Bryan was an amazing service advisor, not at all pushy, and just gave me the facts, letting me make my own decisions with their findings. Jared also got my car back to me and out the door in no time. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. 10/10 you've got a customer for life.

Had Garry's do an inspection on a diesel pick we were thinking of buying. Everyone I talked to was very polite and knowledgeable and They were able to get us right in. Inspections took as long as they said it would take and once they were done, explained in detail they're findings. Save us from buying a lemon.

Easily the best experience I've had with an automotive shop. Called and they got me in same day (in 30 mins!) and fortunately it was a simple fix so I was in and out in 20 minutes. Shanelle couldn't have been more helpful. Will be my go to in Boise!

Garry's is very professional in the front end of things, they really do seem to know what they are doing. At first I was a bit surprised by the cost being the same or more than the mercedes dealership, but they do seem to know what they are doing and I feel comfortable taking my van there. I feel like I can trust their work and I can trust that they aren't going to try to fix things that don't need to be fixed. The most valuable thing you can find at an auto service/ repair center is honesty and they do have that.

Made appointment for oil change for 9:30AM. Called at 11:30 and car was not in for service yet. Explained to rep that when appointment was made it was expressed to me car would be complete by noon. He agreed to push a car out to get ours in. What is the point to schedule an appointment with the shop for planning the day and them not meeting the commitment or having the shop even call to explain an issue in getting the car in on time and there would be a delay. Also when car was dropped off the attendant was told we had a coupon and would also be using Gary Bucks to pay with. When we picked up the car we were told you could use only one or the other, not both. Nowhere on the oil change coupon or the Gary Bucks is this stated.

I brought my Ram 2500 diesel in to get another oil change. I believe in supporting local business. This is the 2nd time Garry's Automotive has done this work for me. They were very thorough and showed me possible areas where I need to be aware of and to watch to make sure those areas don't get worse. You will need to have an appointment as there parking is tight. I still highly recommend Garry's!

Garry’s has always done excellent work on both of my vehicles, an old Dodge pickup and a brand new hybrid. Their inspections are always detailed, and every time before work is performed they have called me and explained with great clarity and detail what service they recommended to solve my issue, and WHY. I have not had many shops go to this level of explaining, and it is appreciated.

Gary’s automotive is definitely the place to go. The staff is very knowledgeable and in particular Jared was super helpful in giving me information about my vehicles battery and the connection to its cost. They were fast and efficient, and I had my vehicle within a half an hour. Phenomenal service!

I have been taking my car here almost exclusively since I moved to Boise five years ago, and can say with a great deal of confidence that Garry's is the best in town, bar none. The little stuff was done quickly and affordably. The big stuff was as well - they'd quote me a number, and the actual final cost always seemed to be a bit under that, and everything they've done has been done correctly, even in light of the stuff I've described below. I've worked with some other mechanics on a professional basis too, and while those other guys did pretty good work too, I always found myself thinking "dang, I wish I could send the fleet vehicles over to Garry's."
Recently, the catalytic converter started failing on my 2003 Camry. Took it in for replacement. While doing that, they found that the timing system was having issues as well. As they dug deeper into it, it became apparent that the whole system needed to be replaced. Obviously that made for a VERY expensive repair, to the point where I had to see if it was more economical to get it done or just buy a different vehicle - the folks at Garry's (I worked with Shanelle) were great at helping me determine the best path forward. "If you want to look at different vehicles, here's some dealers we recommend," she said. I never felt like I was being pushed to have the repairs done, even though that's what I ended up doing.
Got my car back a few days later. The next morning, I left for work... And when the light turned green, I hit the gas and the engine died in the intersection. Of course I had it towed back to Garry's, and they wasted no time in diagnosing the issue. They even had somebody drive me to work! Ultimately they determined that the bolt that keeps the timing chain tensioned hadn't been tightened enough or worked itself loose or something; they explained it to me in more detail, but it's been a few weeks so I don't remember exactly. In any case, I think it was one of those "this was technically human error but also sort of an act of God" situations. When the chain jumped the track, it damaged some other components in the engine that required a lot of work to fix, but Garry's stood by their initial repair and did the whole thing under warranty. Didn't cost me a dime! From what I recall, they ended up ordering a new cylinder head, which ultimately didn't work because I drive a car that was built when I was eight, with an engine that has a mind of its own. They ordered a second cylinder head, which ALSO didn't work, and so they went out and had the part machined! Between parts and labor it probably cost them more to fix my car than that thing is worth - certainly more than they made from the initial repair, but they did it anyways, and even dropped it off at my house when it was ready to go!
Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Garry's. My car now runs better than it ever did before, and I'm beyond impressed by the integrity, workmanship, and professionalism of the folks here. Simply put, if you're looking for a new mechanic, there's no point in looking anywhere else - you absolutely will not regret taking your car here!Nov 02, 2025 -
I have been going to Garry's for 20 years and have never had a bad experience. Honest, direct and provides free oil changes for veterans, just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling every time I come to the shop. I want to work at Garry's when I grow up!

These guys always have great service and they are always transparent. I’m able to get our vehicles in quickly, they send me everything they find wrong and what their recommendations are. When I call the service advisor, they take the time to speak with me and answer all my questions, which I greatly appreciate.
It’s comforting to know that when they find things wrong, I will receive pictures and an explanation of why it needs to be done. They are not pushy on minor things if you’d like to wait, but they do recommend more urgent fixes.
Overall, great service and we have always had good experiences. Prices seem to be on par with anywhere else and the turn around on repairs is prompt.

Garry's Automotive is the most honest mechanic shop I have ever been to! I have used them a few times with a couple differant vehichles. They have never tried to exggerate an issue. I have always come out spending less than anticipated. All of the guys and girls behind the counter are allways polite and knowledgable. I reccomend them to all my friends and family.

Made me aware of dirty air and cabin filters and dirty brake fluid. So I had the filters replaced and brake fluid flushed and replaced in addition to an oil change and replace missing clips on my skid plate that were taken off by another shop. They accepted the $50 in "Garry cash" I had accumulated and gave me a rides between their shop and my home which is a half hour drive. Great service, reasonable prices.

First time bringing our Jeep to Garry’s and it won’t be our last (it’s a Jeep after all - and the service was great!) They were super nice and helpful. Up front about expectations, on time with every estimate, no pressure to complete every possible issue found - they even categorized them by importance. And she’s running great now!

Great job replacing front struts in my 2019 Ford Ranger. Completed work same day as appointment and at slightly less than the pre-installation estimate. Very easy to schedule service. Will definitely continue to use Garry's Automotive in the future.
