Decent beach, it was the cleanest but saw lots of folks in there. Away from the crowds tucked in a quiet spot. They had a shower to clean up and some porta potties.

Amazing beach. Lots of sandy beach area where kids can play. No bathrooms though.

Gorgeous beach right outside Hana. Somewhat busy but worth the walk from where you park. Plenty of shade if you need it. Shower to clean up after swimming. So glad we went here.

Hamoa Beach is a stunning, crescent-shaped gem with soft sand and clear blue waters. The waves can be strong, making it great for body surfing but requiring caution for swimmers. Surrounded by lush greenery, it has a mix of locals and visitors, creating a welcoming vibe. Limited roadside parking means arriving early is best. There are porta potties and shaded areas set back from the beach. A must-visit for a peaceful and scenic beach day on the Hana side.

It’s just beautiful!! The water is lovely, the surrounding are pure. This is a sacred beach to the local, so respect and keep it clean and peaceful

If you took the turn for Koki Beach you're on your way to Hamoa Beach. It is another popular beach due to being sheltered, having shade areas set back from the beach itself, and a restroom. The parking is along the main road overlooking the bay. It is limited and the locals don't like being blocked in. There is a sign asking you not to disturb the rock piles as they mark indigenous graves. We didn't see any, but there was a friendly orange cat guarding the stairway.

Love Hamoa so much! You gotta pay attention to the waves but is to beautiful and even when there a lot of people present it still feels quaint. Thank goodness they added some restroom facilities. Parking can be tight but totally worth it.

This review is based on our overall experience with all the beaches we’ve been to. We’re Florida beaches kind of fans as there is just no comparison. This beach was ok. They at least had relatively clean porta potties. The waves were strong but there were a few people swimming. The trees are nice but they shed all this junk that takes away from the beauty of the place. Black sand is different but not as nice as white sand. People are pretty good about not leaving trash everywhere too which is wonderful.

BEWARE of the drive to get here! Beautiful beach! Lots to see and do. I was fortunate enough to go at an hour with less people. Warm water. Clear. Clean. Just be very cautious about driving yourself (in your car rental) bc it's a very long and winding road. Literally only one car can fit in some spots - there's a steep cliff on one side and a jagged volcanic rock wall on the other. Lots of blind turns. Also, the locals know the roads well so they drive FAST! They will seriously tailgate you until you let them pass. Nothing wrong with that, but beware. ALSO - I HAD NO CELL SIGNAL FOR MOST OF THE DRIVE! IF SOMETHING HAPPENS - YOURE SOL! The sun was setting so I trekked around the other way as to avoid that crazy road in complete darkness potentially damaging the car rental.

One of the best beaches on the island, wavy, but safe. When snorkeling, there was absolutely NOTHING in the water. Clear, warm, not too deep, waist height when pretty far in. Parking is on the side and you enter via steps going down.

Great stop before Oheo Gulch on Road to Hana. Not very populated, good cultural vibe around. No affiliated parking, find a spot on the road side.

Very pretty area. We went in the winter so there was no crowd. However, I believe in the busier months it could get quite crowded. There isn’t much room to park so I’d recommend getting there early. The far end of the beach is so serene and almost private with the overhanging trees and rocks sprouting from the sand. I don’t surf but there were many people out and the waves were huge. All of the restrooms/porta-johns were locked but there’s a shower at the base of the stairs to wash off the salt and sand. Definitely worth the visit.

Great beach and not touristy. Very soft sand and medium sized waves for swimming, boogie boarding, and surfing. Fairly easy parking too. Would recommend

Nice beach and the water seemed very calm here. We didn't stay long as we had the road back to take from Hana and didn't want to do it in the dark.

Beautiful and smooth beach popular with locals and tourists. Seems very good for families with children, as it has moderate waves and is somewhat protected from the sea. Parking is on the road above the beach, and access is via a path down from the road. Porta potties help keep the area clean.

Great black sand beach with fine, soft sand. The waves were perfect strength for swimming and boogie boarding the days we went.

Morning, get here in the early part of the day and enjoy the sun coming in upon the very soft sandy beach, the craggy black lava rocks, and the stunning vegetation growth abounding the beach edges. Swim with the fish, the water is warm here. Ride the waves, all depending upon the weather that day. Enjoy the whole day; Walk back to Hui Hui BBQ, or take the Shore walk from here to Venus Mountain Pools, but wear shoes, it's part of the Luckiest Cows on Earth's territory. Above all, more than you would at home; Respect the Land, the Sea, and the Hawaiian People. Mahalo

Loved this beach! Shower, porta-poties, plenty of parking. Also lots of shady and sunny spots to set up camp. Great beach for body surfing and bogey boarding. I didn’t notice a strong current while I was there. Water was some of the clearest I’ve seen in Maui!

Gorgeous beach, incredibly soft sand and crystal clear water. Easy parking and lots of space. Great stop at the end of the main Road to Hana path.

This is a great beach! The surf is steep, so be cautious. The waves break really hard late. There are pavilions on the beach and a rinse off shower at the base of the steps. There are also trees and other vegetation along behind the sand.

Beautiful and remarkably empty beach that we visited on the backside of the road to Hana. The sand is so powdery and colored like a salt & pepper with more black sand to the southern part of the beach. There are some nice waves so the boogie boarding is great here. Good shade from the many trees if you didn’t have an umbrella also. Some limited parking is available on the side of the road above the beach.

We had to parallel park to get a parking spot. However, we did find a shaded spot on the beach to set up chairs and a cooler. The waves were definitely bigger here than on other beaches in Maui. The sand was somewhat more…gray? All in all, a nice little beach and a relaxing swim.

For all the hype, I was underwhelmed. While some crazy people were swimming the waves were large and forbidding. The beach was strewn with dead vegetation a little further from the water. Maybe on a calm day and some sun this could be a very inviting beach. Sadly for us, not so much. I small swing did allow me to get some of my best pictures of family on the trip!

Parking is limited roadside and your car can easily stick out on the road so watch for that because cops do give tickets. Not a safe beach when theirs high surf due to strong currents and dangerous shorebreak with NO lifeguard

This is our favorite beach on the island. Nice sand, clear water and great waves to play in. My pictures don't do this beach justice. Just a few miles past the town of Hana.

OMG best beach ever. Turquoise water, nice waves, plenty of shade. Not overly crowded because of its remote location from tourist hubs. Parking and access is difficult but well worth it.

Beautiful crescent beach with super soft fine grey and white mix sand. Options for shade under the many trees along the beach and a shower to rinse off in before you continue on your trip to the seven Sacred Pools pools, or Hana. My family went swimming and enjoyed themselves, I just relaxed and enjoyed walking the beach and laying in the sun. If your really into beaches and swimming in the ocean, this is a nice beach and worth an hour at least of your time. There are not many beach options on the road to Hana, especially swimmable ones, and it is very pretty.

Great beach, we were here to watch the sunrise but clouds got in our way. There is parking along the street which worked out ok with a light walk. If you get there in the morning you can seen hundreds of tiny crabs digging burrows. I stood still over one of the crab homes and he came out and threw sand on my foot.

Outstanding! Sand is soft and thick. Waves are killer and the water is gorgeous. One of the best beaches I've been on! Make sure to stop and look out from the bus stop at the top of the stairs - you can see sea turtles swimming! If you're a Travaasa guest, they have bathrooms, water, towels, chairs, and umbrellas available - just ask!
