I've shopped at NAPA for years and never had an issue returning parts that didn't fit—until today. I went in and gave the employee my vehicle information. He looked it up, recommended, and ordered a set of contact points (ignition points) for my distributor. I trusted their expertise, paid, and took them home. When I pulled my old points out and compared them to the new ones, they were completely reversed—the orientation was wrong, so they wouldn't install at all. I never even tried to mount them; I just took them out of the package to check fitment, saw the problem right away, put them back in the original box, and returned to the store the same day. The employee (Bill) refused the return, claiming the part had been "tampered with" or "installed" because of a small oil smudge from my hand while handling it. I explained it didn't fit, showed him the reversed points compared to my old ones, and pointed out that their own employee ordered the incorrect part based on my vehicle details. He still accused me of installing it and said I'd have to come back on Monday to speak to the manager. I don't appreciate being accused of lying or tampering when the issue was clearly a wrong recommendation from the store. The part was unused, didn't fit, and was returned promptly in the original packaging. This feels like poor customer service and unwillingness to own up to their mistake. I'll be going back to speak with the manager for a refund, but unless this gets resolved properly, I won't be shopping at this NAPA location again—and possibly any NAPA if this is how they handle mis-sold parts. If you're considering this store, double-check part numbers yourself and be prepared for potential hassles on returns.

Not friendly unresponsive acted like zombie

Had the part I needed, it was pricy for what it was, but glad they had it - thanks NAPA
