Better lumber and prices than the big box stores. I almost stopped going there a few years ago when an employee whose name I forget wanted to "check my truck out," but it seemed more like he thought I stole something. And the owner was laughing about it. Now that he is gone, the service is much better, and I don't get watched like a hawk. Nor do i get questioned why I am not at work. Plus, the prices for their hardware are outrageous, so I just wait until I need to go to Lowe's or Home Depot to get the same item anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 the price that Gilchrist Building Supply wants.
Wow this store is like them other big stores HD & L's .. it's got anything you need , well almost ; you visit & see for yourself . if u need to fix or work on something around your house , truck ,boat , etc...they will have it .... oh and the best employees anywhere you want to go and look... one more thing it's my NEW store you go and it will be yours too....... Js
As I told my wife as we drove out the parking lot for the last time " Id rather drive to Georgia to buy my supplies than give thease jokers one more of my American dollars."
After the way we were recently treated we closed our account of over ten years. I have literally spent at least 7-10 thousand dollars with this company. But not one more cent!
Was flat out lied to the past 3 visits! By more than one employee! Was told one thing on the phone before driving out there only to hear a different story when arriving. Wasted my gas and time. When shown they're mistakes, they take zero accountability! On top of that, employees were rude. Honestly have never been treated so poorly by any company, especially one I've spent so much money with. They dont remember you from Jack!
Save yourself some $$$ go to Lowe's!
Don't do business with these guy unless you inspect every single piece. They delivered us doors with broken frames and diets and when I tried to return them they blamed me for the damage and would only give back half of my money back

My mom whom is 83 purchased a mower from here. There's a guy named Jimmy who went above and beyond to make sure my mom was comfortable with the mower. I have never in my life seen anyone with so much patience with someone. Thanks for your time.
I called for info, was given good information. I worked up my order and called it in. Went the next morning to pick it up, paid, then young man met me in the lumber barns and loaded it up, after checking each piece. The folks here made my day painless. Great service warrants my future returns.
The employees there are always friendly and ready to help. Alex always goes above and beyond to help us figure out how to do certain projects. Love this place. I rather spend my money there than anywhere else. Great job to everyone there.
First time dealing with Gilchrist Building Supply and I couldn't be happier from the initial communication to the delivery of supplies these people don't mess around. They definitely believe in customer service, ordered a 2x10x36 LVL beam and Sidney was able to locate and deliver in 2 days! Decided to get all my other lumber and extras from them as well, they delivered it all and put it on my trailer at my house and wrapped it! They definitely showed that they appreciated my business unlike 84 lumber who still has not returned my call from Monday. Definitely recommend using them for your Building needs. Thanks!
I have been very impressed with this store since I come down here from Mississippi few months ago. Great selection of rental equipment, huge selection of building material and great customer service. They have had everything I needed in stock and will go out there way to help you find what you need and even will come help you load stuff up unlike the big stores who don't even offer. Thank yall and look forward to many more projects.
They were instrumental in helping me when I built my house after the first Gulf war. When they delivered my shingles, they put them up on the ridge of the roof for me. Above and beyond! Disclaimer: that was 30 years ago, that may not be possible anymore in our new sue happy society...
Great customer service up front however I will never take a another item there for repair. I took my weed eater there they kept it for a really long time and ordered a carburetor without asking first and said they installed it when I got it home it still would not run so I took it to a different place and they said it did not have a new carburetor on it that they just needed to make a few adjustments now the weed eater works perfectly I wasted over $50 at Hillcrest builder supply on my weed eater.
Worst customer service ever. Mark had an attitude before I could even explain what I wanted. Extremely uncooperative and very unprofessional. After calling to confirm they were a Black & Decker service center and driving 35 mies we were rudely turned away. No covid 19 precautions taken by any of the staff or other customers.
Great local hardware and building supply store. Found everything I needed and the staff was a great help getting what I needed. Will definitely shop here again when I need supplies.

A wonderful locally owned and operated supply store, with a bit of everything either in store or available to order. They also have a great mower repair shop on site.
I purchased a Husqvarna Zero Turn lawn mower from, Randy, in the Lawn & Garden Center. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. Uncreated the machine, serviced it and had it ready to go in an hour and a half.
Very nice,helpful staff all around it's a great place to shop they have about everything you are looking for if not they will try and get it for you or they will let you know where the closest place that has what you need. To me when I go there and walk in the doors there more like family then a business that's how great they treat their customers. 5 Star all day
Place is a joke! Customer service...? Walk in ask for help, get told to go to the back. Go there and there is no one. Finally find someone and the guy says he is too busy, to go to the front. He walks up there then they argue about where he said. Biggest joke of a place ever.
This place used to be a good place to go back when i was a child in the 90's. Now this place is the biggest joke. Walk in to get banisters and knock out plugs. Told they don't sell banisters anymore. So i ask for the plugs and an told "the electrical stuff is over there to the left" and the guy just stands art the counter even though i asked for help. After i couldn't find what i was looking for my dad went over and got the guy. He came over for a minute and said he'd be right back. He left for a few minutes and came back playing on his phone. At which point we're told they don't have what we need even after being told they didn't have them. Don't waste your time here. This place is ridiculous. Wish it would go back to how it used to be. If i could give 0 stars i would.
