I have been an auto enthusiast for as long as I can remember. I have worked on my own cars for as long as I've owned them - never letting anyone else come near them, let alone a sketchy mechanic who'll lie to me to make a quick buck. They're all the same, aren't they? It's a business after all - so why wouldn't they charge me high rates for an oil change, then 'discover' I have a pinhole leak in my coolant hose (that's never been there before), just to graciously offer to fix it at an even more audacious price?
As you can likely tell - I've had a deep mistrust in mechanics all my life. That was right up until I met Alex, Tommy, and Sander from Autobahn.
I've had the opportunity to meet the gentlemen that own and operate Autobahn Service and Restoration - both in customer interactions and behind the scenes. That's an important distinction. You can only gauge a person's true character by how they act when no one is around. And the way these folks operate and treat client's cars when no one is around is unquestionably outstanding. Not only do they know these niche, old European cars as if they wrote the book on them, but they execute the jobs flawlessly and explain what they're doing at a level anyone can understand.
In my years of experience interacting with these folks, I have yet to see them encounter a problem they can't solve, or treat a customer with anything less than utmost respect. I have gone from a deep mistrust of mechanics to referring anyone and everyone I possibly can to this business. It should be noted - they only work on European cars - but there's a reason they do. They specialize in a niche most will tell you they understand, but rarely show competence in execution.
Coming from someone with my kind of history and trust issues with mechanics, believe me when I tell you this is the place you need to go to have your car serviced properly.

I have seen Autobahn Service by my neighborhood for 20 years. They are always open on time and hardworking. I called them about a domestic car issue I was having and they were so nice and really helpful. We are lucky to have them here in Melbourne!
I drive an older Mercedez Benz and to say it is difficult to find a repair shop to work on my car is an understatement. However, I was connected with this repair shop and I am extremely happy with the results. They were professional and the invoice is so detailed you have no question as to where the money was spent. But the honesty and kindness was what impressed me the most! Will definetly use them in the future!! 5 Stars is all I could pick on google but they are definetly worth every penny!! 10 out of 10!!
Alex was tremendous locating and installing a small part on my VW at minimal cost compared to a dealer’s…outstanding customer service and honest with their assessment!!
The guys at Autobahn did my service on my 2000 986. The car feels and drives like a new car. Like any other mechanical vehicle, there are ever present issues but they have handled every request with attention to detail and as if it were their own vehicle. Glad to have them on guard for my 986 Boxster.
These folks are true professionals. I’ve been working on cars, boats and airplanes all my life. At this point, I simply pay to have things done but my past allows me to really gauge the quality and knowledge of a Mechanic. In this case, not only are they outstanding mechanics, they are honest, truly informative, and a pleasure to deal with.
A VERY good substitute to the Mercedes dealership, if not better. Customer service is elite as soon as they answer the phone. They itemize everything with you before even attempting any work. I felt super comfortable taking their professional opinion and suggestions. 30 years of quality experience under their belt! Definitely coming back for any additional issues/service.
They know their stuff and will take care of you. They are trust worthy, They will take care of all your foreign car needs without the worry of being over charged or ripped off. I recommend them, 5 stars.
I haven’t even brought my Mercedes to them yet, but Alex and Tom have answered all of the questions that I have asked. I agree with the majority of the other people on here when they say that they are fair and extremely knowledgeable on their trade. If I would’ve found them sooner, I would’ve probably had a better experience with my first German vehicles.

Guys at Autobahn were nice enough to give me some free advice and ended up saving me hundreds of dollars. Real stand up professional and kind individuals over there. Couldn't recommend them more highly.
I have always had a good experience here. Work was always done very quickly and for a fair price. You can tell they are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what they do. If you have a German manufactured car, this is the place to go.
I sent my daughter here when her sunroof jumped track and needed to be reset. He was rude and told her it would be really expensive and he had to replace the entire sunroof. She was smart to just leave and found herself being helped in just 5 minutes by a nearby business for NO FEE because it was such a simple fix! Sad sad in these times to try and take advantage of a young soldier and treat her so unprofessionally. SHAME!
I take my high-mileage VW there. Won’t take it elsewhere. They use OEM parts and will not overcharge. Tom and his team are very honest, diligent and professional. Labor rate is high compared to dealerships and large repair shops, but it is well worth the peace of mind
More than three years ago, I trusted these untermenschen one time to maintain my classic Mercedes 1973 450 SL, 46 years old with only 100,000 miles. After re-locating from Texas I gave them a list of six priority items for repair or upgrade, I told them that my insurance required that the vehicle be garaged. They said that it would. They kept the car for more than three weeks. It never was garaged unless it was up on a rack. Only a minimum of work was done at a maximum price. One month ago I returned from a four-month trip to Europe. I had removed the battery from the vehicle stored at my home. After I returned and attempted to replace the battery I could not open the hood. I called Autobahn. I was told that, at the end of the day, "Tommy" would be dispatched to my home, less than five miles from the shop, to open the hood. "These old cars are easy to get into" I was told. The week passed. No one and no call. I called the next week on Monday and was told someone would come. I heard the same falsehood for two more weeks. This past week, Manic Papa, who told me, "I'm mad at everybody today," added that as "the decision maker here you have to bring the car to us." One month wasted. In anyone's lifetime, a man has only for the duration of his life his body's functionality and his integrity. The two-man family team at this facility do not know the meaning of the word "integrity."

Previous service for my Mercedes had either been done by a Mercedes dealership, or I did them myself.
After a work estimate for repairs I didn’t think were necessary from the dealership, and complaining about it to a friend, I got a card for this shop.
I scheduled an appointment for a second opinion, and the rest has been history.
Prior to my first appointment, I dropped in unannounced to introduce myself, and go over the repair items that of my biggest concern. Tom took the time to listen to my concerns, as well as my explanation for where my comfort level was for DIY repairs I could do at home.
A week later, after they had completed their inspection, Tom took the time to explain why he agreed, or disagreed, with each of the line items in Mercedes-Benz service quote.
From there, we discussed the items I was comfortable of doing myself, and he suggested one I skipped over based upon my (rather meager) DIY skills.
Having gone over everything, and isolating the items that were most pressing, we had a plan to start in on the list of items.
Tom, and his son Alex have both incredible to work with, and I’m confident they’ll keep my car in perfect shape for years to come.
I've got two words to describe these guys...Totally Awesome! ...'Awesome' by itself does not quite suffice for describing the level of knowledge and expertise provided with regards to the maintenance and repairs needed on my 2007 BMW 328i. They make it as painless as possible, and for that I am forever grateful!! Thank you Alex and Tom!!!
Tom has cared for our 1999 ML430 for over 10 years. He is skilled, honest, does great work, and offers you all options to save money. My wife and I recommend him without reservation.
Tom has done excellent work on my Beck 1957 356 Speedster. Work included rear brakes, muffler, custom brackets, oil leaks, replaced carburetors, steering, alignment, transmission and a service/tune up.
