It’s not often that I post reviews these days but the experience I had in dealing with Steve and Pete at Rand Auto warrant one. I happen to stop by the shop one day (based on a high recommendation) while I was in the area with a question on a very specific repair. Without hesitation, Steve knew exactly what I was talking about which was impressive right from the get go. Therefore, I made an appointment right then and there. Dropped off the car the day of the appointment and picked it up when it was finished. Steve and Pete explained the repair in detail and saved/showed me the worn parts that were replaced. Needless to say, I highly recommend them and will be returning for my future service needs.

Can’t recommend Rand Auto enough. Had a check engine light come on. Steve researched the error code, printed out a report that showed it was a recall, and suggested I get it fixed at the local dealership because it might be fully covered - which it was. Appreciate the honesty with their other recommendations as well. Will definitely be using this garage for the foreseeable future with our cars.

I want to recommend Rand Automotive to anyone who lives in the Old Lyme area or vacationing there. While on vacation, I was driving down 156 when I heard a terrible sound coming from my car. Thank goodness I saw Rand Automotive and I pulled right in. Steve and the girl working there, (Sorry, I didn’t get your name.) dropped everything and helped me out. In a few minutes I was on my way. It was so kind of them to help me out! Thank you again! I wish you were local for me to return to your shop!

Don't go anywhere else for your car repair or tuning! Steve Rand provides superb customer service and mechanical skills. He fixed the horrendous rattle under our 2016 Honda Accord, tuned up the brakes (the emergency brake even works now), inspected all fluids and changed the oil. All done for what we consider to be a bargain price. Steve and his wife now have forever customers. We're thrilled!
I needed work on the ball joints and securing the splash pan under my Sonata. While testing my car after his work, Steven noticed a noise with the rt. front brake, and investigated to find he needed to file down the hub flange to be flush. He finished the work at no additional charge and now my 10 yr. old car runs like new! That annoying noise is gone!!!

I've been looking for more local options for service and Rand Automotive was getting some great support from the community even before they opened. I decided to give it a shot and book an oil change on the second day they were open for business. Steve was incredibly friendly and efficient and had even ordered the OEM filter for my car because he wanted to make sure the car was cared for as intended by the manufacturer. I was planning on purchasing my own filters to bring, but never got around to doing it, so I was pleasantly surprised! Even though they were still setting the office area up, it was a comfortable experience and both Steve and Jess made each person that walked in feel welcome. It's this kind of service that you only get with a great, hometown small business. Looking forward to seeing them grow their new business!
Steve was the absolute best. Very honest and genuine. He helped me in every way he could and gave me long sought after answers as to what’s going on with my car. Labor charges are affordable and humane. 10/10 recommend and will be back!
Rand Automotive just did an amazing job working on my GMC Truck. Steve was very efficient and did his best to eliminate downtime and turn the truck repairs around quickly. I highly recommend this great establishment and I look forward to them servicing my vehicles in the future!
