From recent feedback, Costco Wholesale in East Lyme Township, CT scores 82/100. As of 2/21/26 it was over packed due to a blizzard warning, the Dallas, TX and Plano, TX locations can be slower during the week. Being this is the only one in along distance, it's busy often, so if you can go early, when it first opens, (they may still be lines!)
Also this location has a plastic and glass recycling program!!!
Texas doesn't have this type of program, so I enjoy it very much. You pop in the designated plastic, as much as you want, get a receipt rebate and get 1) cash back! Or 2) add it to a Costco shop card, and boom more purchasing power!! (it's only 10¢ per bottle, it adds up!!) So go and enjoy Costco!
super disappointed. We came to this Costco in East Lyme and we had three different transactions, the man at the receipt review section I assumed was overwhelmed and couldn’t count? He called over the manager with assistance and TRIPLE checked our order. I believe we were racially profiled as a Hispanic family in a predominantly white town. Assuming that we were stealing, when they miscounted what we had. After they checked, twice even the assistant Costco worker said we were all set and their manager carol insisted on counting one more time. Left a bad taste in our mouth. Bystanders probably thought we were stealing. It was embarrassing that they treated us like this.
I want to give the biggest thank you to Ednita and Jen for their patience and kindness in navigating a mistake with my membership! They went above and beyond during a busy time of the year to help me and make sure I left without any remaining issues. Shoutout to Sean as well for his A1 assistance!
This Costco does not carry as much of a variety as other Costcos. They also tend to carry store brand and do not offer brand a name option for many products. The customer service desk workers could use a lot more training.
Got there at 11:40 on a Saturday to pickup one item. Grabbed it and did self checkout and was surprisingly out in 10 minutes. So even on a weekend I was able to get in and out like at a smaller store.
WELL DONE - I thought I'd share my experience with East Lyme Costco last night. At this very busy time of year I found that even though the store was bustling with LOTS of people the employees were quick to be refilling shelves (taking away empty boxes too while they were re-stocking). There was an employee stationed by the registers pre-scanning the items in your cart so the checkout experience was fast, easier for their cashier and me! They also had an employee replenishing the cart supply at a rapid pace.

Love Costco, the help is friendly, they never act like your bothering them, they go out of their way to help you, and that is because Costco as a company cares for their employees...so their employees care about their job. Just wish all corporations would figure this out ..
Bought organic chicken wings tonight. Took them out to cook immediately and they were rancid with broken open bones and covered in a horrible slime. Called the store to give them the sku information so they could pull them from the refrigerators. The woman answered was extremely rude and stated she didn’t understand why I was calling, when I began the conversation with, “I’m calling to report spoiled food from your meat department so that you can check the other packages. I’m not looking for a refund. I simply want to make you aware of the spoiled food.” How much clearer could I be?
We go to Costco because they’re the only ones still testing for food born illnesses but I guess they really don’t care about us at all.
I’ve had a membership for years, but now I am not allowed in when doors open?!? You have to pay MORE for the privilege to shop. We are considering canceling our membership. Awful customer service.
I wish that there was a little more signage/organization in the non food areas to help find particular items.
The young chickens were waterlogged,and while 1/3 the price of a good free range chicken,just didn’t make the grade for me. I split and salted them in the fridge for 2 days, and they still were weirdly wet. You can find some good prices on things ,but shop carefully. Halal ground lamb is pretty good.
I love looking through all the aisles. Many items are cheaper than other stores. Not everything is a better price, but most are. Will definitely be doing some Christmas shopping at Costco!
If you know, you know: Costco’s hot dog combo is the unsung hero of any shopping trip. Yes, I said it. And yes, I get one every single time.
My latest visit to the East Lyme Costco reminded me just how joyful errands can be when you’ve got a perfectly stocked warehouse, great staff, and a snack bar that slaps. Everyone was helpful and efficient.
The fall seasonal food drop was in full swing: I stocked up on chicken pot pie, caramel apple-fritters bites, and those cinnamon-sugary churro donut bites that deserve their own fan club.
Check out the eyewear department they have a great selection!
? Pro Tip: Wear sneakers. Block out at least two hours. And yes, get the hot dog. It’s a part of the whole experience.
All is good but I can't be the ONLY MEMBER that doesn't like pepperoni (or plain) pizza.
Prior to Covid... both stores I shop at could barely keep up with the demand for the veggie pizza.
DON'T BE LAZY or profit greedy!$!
Some of us, myself foremost, do not like a totally unhealthy food product so please stop shoving it down our throat for easy money.
Personally I just dont consider Costco for pizza for the last several years and order it it elsewhere where the product matters.
After today I'm pretty sure I'm not going to pursue a membership with Costco. At least not at this location. The last two times I have been in this location the cashiers have been extremely rude and not helpful at all. The last time I was there the cashier was very pushy/aggressive about me putting my credit card in the machine before it was finished ringing out and then got huffy and puffy about me putting everything in the cart without her help. I do not appreciate being rushed when she could help move the process along or at least asked if I would like help. The customer service is not that great in this location at least not anymore. I also don't like that the aisles don't have any indication on what is up each aisle. For these reasons I will keep my BJ's membership the cashiers are are much more friendly and helpful. Also I can go in the store and look at the end of the aisle and know what's up the aisle. While I do like some of the things that Costco does have it's not worth the membership for me to be treated poorly and the prices aren't even competitive with BJ's
This new Costco is wonderful! The check out the day before Thanksgiving was a breeze and they have so many great options of products to purchase that I haven’t seen at other Costco stores nationwide. Def a new favorite of mine when in Connecticut.
Thankfully this place went in it only took 6 years, we've been waiting patiently and thankfully it's here. There is no signage so if you don't know that it's there you will probably miss it. The only obvious sign is the one that's on the building that can be seen from route 95.
Compared to other stores I've been to in Washington and Virginia it's small but it has all the things that you can expect in a Costco. There's a BJ's that's up the street, I'm not sure how they're going to stay in business because Costco is a lot better I think.
Self-check out, gas station and liquor store at this Costco as well.
I am thrilled with my new Bosch Refrigerator. It is surprising how much larger it is than our old side by side Kitchen Aid.
Ordering on-line was very easy for this 70’ish year old. Everything went smoothly on the day and time we expected it!
The communication from COSTCO was exceptional, every step of the way!
The delivery men were amazing!
They had many techniques for this huge delivery that made it look easy! They were professional and efficient! They were very accommodating and took away our old fridge.
The only thing lacking was for them to wipe down the outside of my appliance to remove their fingerprints.
Thank you COSTCO for making the whole process possible and easy!
Crazy Christmas rush. Prices are reasonable (hard to get an honest feel as prices seem to be increasing monthly in most stores).
Well stocked and plenty of samples. Good meats and seafood.
Spent way more than we should have. Also very good gas prices (about $0 60 a gallon less than the best I found yesterday.
Worth noting their closing times are surprisingly early some days. 6pm on a Sunday has caught us a few times since we rarely are on the area but when we are - they are closed.
I can only be sure of two things:
1) the selection is great but you need to do some careful price comparisons on big ticket items. Do you really save money on household stuff and food? Probably if you shop regularly.
2) Be prepared for the major push to join the Citibank VISA card. You will be told over and over about the "4%, 3%, 2%, 1% rebates" Not however the 19.97% Interest Rate. The 4% is on gasoline and EV charging ONLY up to $7,000.
We did not believe the numbers worked in our favor as we have a 9.9% VISA.
Great place for buying lots of food and such to stock up your pantry and fridge. The prices are pretty good too for the quantity of items you get. It’s also fun to go there and get a hot dog and soda for $1.50 They have a wide variety of food and other home supplies that you might need. The parking lot there is also big and you can get gas there too.
We ordered a birthday cake from here for the first time. We wanted something different from the same old grocery store sheet cakes. I was AMAZED by the quality and flavor of this cake and our guests loved it too!! I will forever go to Costco for birthday cakes from now on. Best part: it was only 13 dollars…. I still can’t believe it. It was huge.
