A few hrs ago I dropped a 55 inch television and an accent chair. There was 2 gentlemen there one didn’t offer any help instead he carried on on his cellphone.While the disabled deaf young man generally offered to put my television where it belonged .
Is it normal to block the entrance 5minutes before closing? I rushed down here with trash in my car only to find it blocked before 2PM Man at the front couldn't let me through just to discard of my trash. If you had closed at 2P I understand that but seriously minutes before 2? It's enough the hours are limited during the week.
This is one of the best and well-run recycling centers in Connecticut! When I dropped off items for the recycling center (example: monitors, desktop computer, broomsticks, vacuum cleaners), each waste item was separated into their own individual shed (computers/laptops/electronics in one shed and TVs/monitors in another shed) and Dumpsters for household garbage. There are also book drop bins and sporting equipment drop bins. If you do a little bit of "dumpster diving" in the computer and TV shed, you can find some nice laptops and desktops for FREE! As a tech enthusiast, I found some Windows desktops, Mac and Windows laptops, laptop chargers, and even a 24-inch DELL monitor! This is one of my favorite places to check out in Stamford!
If you have to dispose your air conditioner (AC) than it is not accepted at this location… you will have to go across the street to scale house, get a $12 permit from there (park inside don’t wait in the long car queue) and you get dispose the AC at scale house. I made the mistake of going to Katrina Mygatt recycling center first. Writing this review so others don’t make the same mistake.
1) Really helpful service with friendly staff
2) Separate sections to dispose furniture, cardboards, Electronics , oil, grass etc
3) Rooms to either take or give free electronics and books
4) Free upto 200 Lb per day for stamford residents with permit that can be obtained from scale house at 101 Harbor view by showing vehicle registration certificate.
5) Self service . Quick and easy.
Recycling center and dump free to Stamford residents if you are getting rid of less than 200 lbs per day. You need to get a permit from around the corner at the Scale house first by showing your license and Stamford registration. Staff are very helpful with explaining what goes in which bins. There are also sheds for used books and a swap shed where you can drop off or pick up for free used but in good condition items.
