There's always space in the recycling containers which is nice. Yes there are rules, but it's pretty straight forward and they're there for a reason. Just remember that messing up or purposefully putting in items that aren't appropriate could mean the ENTIRE container won't be used for recycling and will defeat the entire purpose.
We use this recycling center often and it is great! I have a Subaru FULL every time and I often see the staff, ask them questions, and they're out there with brooms, making space for more recycling. I almost always go on Saturday and it's usually quite busy, but there is always room for my stuff. The staff are helpful, friendly, and have never given me grief about the size of my cardboard or the amount of my load. Highly recommend! Grateful to have this facility here in Estes. My recycling far outweighs my garbage. I appreciate the center and all of the staff for being helpful and making sure the recycling is sorted properly, so it actually gets recycled! Thanks, y'all.
It's an odd place to go, the staff are looking over your shoulder to make sure the cardboard is just the right size, got asked how often we recycle and told we should come more frequently so we have less stuff on each trip. It's kinda creepy. They are just short of discouraging recycling. I'm waiting for them to sort through the truck when I arrive just to be sure we're following the rules.
Some have complained about people not following the rules, but rules are impossible to follow if they aren’t clearly detailed on the website and at the recycling site itself. For example, it isn’t clear all of the plastics that are allowed and all those that are not.
Arrived during Saturday's 12:00 half-hour lunch break so I had to cool my heels for a bit; facility opened again promptly at 12:30 and I was able to deposit all my recycling. Alas, glass is not being separated but all paper, glass and can are single-sourced in the large bin. Corrugated cardboard gets its own bin: NO NASTY PIZZA BOXES.
Check hours of operation before heading over.
The lady who volunteers to educate and help people sort through before dropping off their recycles is wonderful! She deserves a LUNCH break! We are lucky to have a recycle center here. Unfortunately there are always those few who can ruin it for everyone. PLEASE follow the rules and put CLEAN cardboard in the cardboard bins. CLEAN and only recyclable glass in the glass bin. And follow the rules for paper products and cans/plastics!!! It is not rocket science, but those whom abuse this option ruin an entire load for recycling.
The residential recycling area was full and waiting for another container at 9 am. Lady said come back later. We arrived at 11:56 and she REFUSED to let us drop off 2 small paper bags of recycling. Apparently their Lunch gets a 5 minute head start.
