The City of Lakewood's Quail St Recycling Center accepts the following clean, sorted recycling: cardboard (flat, dry, cut to max size 3 ft by 5 ft before arriving at center), aluminum beverage cans, scrap metal, glass bottles and jars, paper and plastic beverage bottles.
Sort items and cut down cardboard to max size 3 ft by 5 ft before arriving at center. Center accepts recycling volume contained in a standard car or small pickup.
We are not able to accommodate trailers. Recycling is free, but donations help sustain the center.

This place is a good place to recycle, but the employees are sometimes very rude for no reason at all. I get anxious going there because I am not sure what type of employee I will get.
Since very few apartment complexes in the area seem to offer recycling, this is the only option for those still wanting to reduce their waste footprint. It is usually busy, staffed by helpful attendants, and takes a wide variety of recyclables. I would recommend separating them before arriving as it saves you a lot of time and opens the parking up for everyone.
I've been there about 5 times helping family members dispose of recyclable items. Always a good experience. After the first time, I sorted my items at the house which made it much more efficient. Employees are super nice.
I am so blessed to live near this amazing facility. I hate creating waste and this place allows me to recycle so many materials and I hardly have waste anymore! :)
My buddy went here and loved it. Attached is a good old picture of us in some recycled clothing. Loved my imagination just absolutely crawling with excitement as I enjoyed the scenery of recycled materials. Just thinking about the possibilities of what my past can become in someone elses future is intense and a feeling I'll never forget. Thank you Lakewood Recycling Center.
You just have to know the times they’re open and closed and the days as well. They do close for lunch so not that. It does get a little annoying with people following me around while you’re trying to do your recycling and get in and get out of there when you have five bins completely segregated and they’re making sure you’re not putting the things in the wrong bins. The guy was more worried about having to crawl in there and remove something. Sorry, people stink, dude, But that’s your job.
This place is so dumb. I guess they got what they wanted though, one less person who’s gonna take the time to use this place. I mean why else would you make it annoying, complicated, and open for a narrow window. Eventually, they’ll start charging people and that’s when you’ll know I’m right.
Great place to take your recyclables. The staff is always friendly and helpful. It is true they don't take all your plastics, but something is better than nothing! I appreciate what they do. They have a list of what they take on their website so you know what you can bring (and a list of other recycling centers too).

I handed a staff member a clam shell that I pulled from the plastic bin and had told a lady they don't take them. The younger of the two staff members took it from me and tossed it right back into the plastic bin. So really not all Great staff and but is a very clean center.
My partner and I are remodeling or kitchen and dining room. Everything has been delivered in boxes. The recycling center has been a blessing in taking all of the cardboard off of our hands. The staff is amazingly helpful. Deborah
They recently changed the hours so that weekend drop off is no longer available, and all times during Monday - Friday are during typical work hours.
We are no longer able to use the Lakewood Recycling Center with these changes. Makes you question if that’s the intent.
Helpful staff. They have enough exceptions to what types of plastic are accepted that I've decided to just give up and throw everything straight in the trash.
Every type of takeout food container, and plastic cup is not accepted, even if thoroughly washed. That's half of my recyclables right there, so no thanks.
Recycling in Jefferson County is cost prohibitive, quite difficult, and time consuming with no actual perceivable benefit, so I'm done and enjoyed it while it made any sense at all for me to do.
Staffed with friendly, responsive, helpful workers. We live in Golden and bring our recycling (when needed) here as this is the closest location to us. A needed, essential asset and resource for truly all of Jefferson County!
I appreciate this recycling site. I sort everything as I recycle it and take to the site every two weeks.
My biggest wish is that they recycle things like plastic film, the calm shells around vegetables and berries etc. i know many places take bags but this place does not—I have always assumed that plastic clam shells around lettuce etc was recyclable but it’s not. Also know that cardboard containers such as soup, milk, juice etc is recyclable here—but it’s under the plastics category.
You can also take your old water heater and small appliances similar to recycle here.

I just moved and had an abundance of cardboard that would have taken forever for my trash company to take care of since recycling pickups are every other week. This place is a godsend! You just pull in to park, drop off your recyclables by type, and you’re on your merry way! Staff are super friendly also!
I visited today, and the employees were very kind and beyond helpful! Not only did they answer all of my recycling questions, but they even offered a screw to hold up my license plate when I was struggling to find the one that fell out. Thank you and happy holidays!
First time bringing my recyclables here today and had a good experience. The attendant helped direct me to the different bins and it was quick and easy. I would for sure recommend sorting your paper, plastic, glass and cardboard before coming to drop them off, it makes the drop off much quicker.
Easy, easy & easy. I dropped off a bunch of stuff and it was easy. Lived in Lakewood for years and just heard about this place yesterday. And, used it today. Staff is nice. Easy to use. Cans, bottles, plastic bottles, carboard, etc. They take most everything. Thank you Lakewood.
Too restricted, half the plastic (all had the numerical triangle on them) were disallowed. The recycle workers were very helpful though. I was suprised that I didn't have to separate brown and clear glass. I do realize your rules come from your vendor.
I’m so glad I found this place and that they accept recycling from non-Lakewood residents. It has been such a challenge trying to recycle. I live in an apartment complex that doesn’t recycle. I talked to my apartment manager, called the city, and called waste management services to set up my own curb side recycling service, and it was a NO from everyone. I don’t know what I’d do without Lakewood Recycling. You’re doing a great thing for us apartment residents. In addition, the employee that was there was super helpful and knowledgeable. The facility is also very clean and organized. Thank you for offering this recycling service! It’s much appreciated!
I always have great experiences with the employees, and everyone has been covid-cautious. However, the scheduling system is terrible. You should be allowed to schedule appointment the day of, so long as there are available slots.

The scheduling system to set the appointments is down. No one answers at the city to help to manually set up an account or appointment.
This facility used to be so awesome. It was super clean and the people were always so helpful. I felt like Lakewood really cared about environmental issues. Now it is getting so political.
The system to set up your account asks inappropriate questions like my sex, email address, etc. Why would my sex have anything to do with recycling? The email address is just sold to make the city more money that they already can't properly manage....
Super disappointed
This place is great, but it's really time to get off the whole appointment only thing. My schedule is all over the place so its incredibly inconvenient that the earliest appointment you can make is 24 hours in advance. Even Boulder's recycling center is back to normal at this point.
Don't get me wrong, normally this place is great.. But they have just simply been planning the date of re-opening for far too long and don't seem to be receiving much pressure to move...no information has been given on when we can expect re-opening even though they just say information can be found on website, it just isn't true and has yet to be updated. It has been two weeks since the last update here, and still haven't had enough time to simply give us a date?? I have three months of recycling about ready to go in the trash because I can't hold on to them forever while waiting for this place to re-open one mysterious day and it truly is my only local option.

It’s a pleasure to have this fantastic amenity in our City. We compost and recycle EVERYTHING but a tiny little 3 gallon trash bag each week. If the whole City would do better the garbage truck business would reduce by 90% .
