Resource Central: Reuse & Conservation JunkYard in Boulder (CO)

Their lawn removal service was great! I had my name on a wait-list, they called when they had an upcoming cancellation. I decided to go for it. SO GLAD I DID! It was just the motivation I needed to get the water-wise, bee friendly garden with so much curb appeal I needed. I still had lots of work to do myself, but it was worth it. I also opted for the "Rocky Mountain Retreat" - *Garden in a box" adding drought tolerant plants to my full sun area. I did add a few others as well. If they survive the winter, then this is going to look AWESOME in a couple years! <3 I have the patience. :)

A local legend, they've won a customer for life! I love everything about this organization, especially what it does for local communities. I learned about them from their partnership w the Thornton H2O overhaul project. They have amazing tool sales every season. Please donate your used tools!

I love the Resource Central. It can definitely be hit & miss but when you hit, it’s worth it. Glad to have this as a resource in boulder - I’ll continue to bring my business here as long as the prices continue to be fair.

I love the idea of this place. I have found some good deals and donated quite a few items over the years. Although on multiple occasions I have had workers on the donation line snap at me for the items I brought to donate. One worker in a condescending tone said, “we are not a junk yard.” Recently I went there on a day no one was around, I thought maybe on lunch or something. I sat for a minute and then opened my trunk when around the corner came a dude yelling aggressively and took a photo of my car and said he was calling the police for illegal dumping! The dude was unhinged, pretending he on the phone with the police before even listening to me. I emailed them about the situation but they didn’t respond. Please treat your community better, we are dropping off items to be reused and sold. I will be taking my donations elsewhere so I don’t get yelled at or arrested for false accusations!

Resource Central offers some great programs that help you save water and learn more about gardening. We used their lawn removal program for our front yard and planted part of it with their garden in a box program. So far we are very happy with the results.

I have been shopping at this place for several years, but the prices have been super expensive for a while now, some things cost as if they were new, it is no longer a good option, I am sad because it was my favorite place and I recommended everyone to go but not now

Fast and efficient removal of sod for pollinator garden conversion. Three people removed almost 600 sf in about an hour and a half. Recommend to try to get on their schedule a few months out.

Resource is my Happy Place! As an artist and custom furniture builder, Resource is like being a kid in a candy store. ...where all the candy is awesome, and really cheap. The Walnut Monster Desk was 90% reclaimed materials from Resource.

Good selection of items for any sort of home improvement, I have been able to find materials for many projects here that would have been much more expensive elsewhere. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they even helped me and my mom jump our car when the battery died!

If you doing any kind of home improvement project or into repurposing materials this place is AWESOME. Remodeling and don’t need the old cabinets or leftover tile? Take it here! The only bummer is the hours—it’s incredibly difficult for a working person to get there around work and on top of that they’re closed on Sundays. It’s kind of odd they are closed to the people who would benefit most from access cheap building materials. They also seem to keep rebranding and changing their name for some reason. The website makes it look like it has something to do with water conservation? Let’s be real it’s a very cheap and wonderful source of used building materials and other materials. I keep telling people about it and they can’t find it! It’s like they are intentionally hiding how great they are for some reason. Anyhow,

I have purchased many Gardens in a Box in the past and I really can’t describe how absolutely pleased I am with their offerings. This program is a real gift to both beginner and advanced gardeners both. Every one of the plants that I have purchased have live and are thriving. I look forward to seeing what they are going to provide, but I can assure you that both you and I will be very pleased and rewarded when purchasing Gardens in a Box. Trust me!!

Such a great program! The communication from Resource Central was excellent, timely and thorough. The pickup process was easy and the plants are healthy -- they've had to wait to be put into the ground because of our late snow, but they are thriving. I do wish I had opted for the sod removal part of the program....never mind my "oh, how hard can it be?" thought. At our ages, it took longer, and lots of ibuprofen! Thank you so much -- we're looking forward to watching our gardens unfold!

The team did a great job of removing my old lawn. I bought several "gardens in a box." Most of the plants survived transplanting and are doing well. I am looking forward to seeing them mature, fill-in, and create a water-wise, pollinator friendly replacement for my old lawn. Thanks for helping me get this project going?

Awesome service! So glad to be reducing water waste in our drought-stricken area. Really friendly and helpful folks managed the process and I was extremely pleased with the result. Highly recommended for the ethical purposes alone. Unfortunately my city water provider did not have a discount (Longmont) but I think it's still absolutely worth it for the monthly savings! I'll be saving well over 10k gallons a year!

I can not recommend this company enough! I was able to do a fall garden in a box paid for by the City of Westminster and have loved every second of it. Jordanne could not have been more helpful and responsive in answering all my questions and helping me plan. So far my plants are happy as ever and some have even started to bloom! I feel so lucky to be in a place where a company like this exists.

Just finished my appointment for Sprinkler evaluation with them. Bendor & Peyton showed right on time completed the evaluation thoroughly. They are some of the smartest and knowledgeable people I have met. So passionate about their work and water conservation. I loved working with them and they gave some great advice on watering schedules. Thank you for your hard work in making our planet a better place to live!

Love this place! As a recent homeowner it has loads of good stuff to use on all the projects around my house. Super affordable too! Oh, and the used tool sales are incredible. I've gotten some great deals here. The staff is super helper as well! I just wish they would open another location in Denver so I wouldn't have to travel as far. It's well worth the drive though. Keep up the good work!

Staff were amazingly helpful in assisting us with our lawn to garden conversion project. They provided guidance on sheet mulching and the plants we received are beautiful! Volunteers helped us load them into our car and the process was managed efficiently. Received helpful printed guidance on caring for the plants.

I bought a garden in a box and it was a nice experience online and pick-up was very smooth. I didn't know where to start with my home garden, but was looking for native and low maintenance plants. This was an easy way to get started and I'm excited to see my garden grow!

I donated fully functioning appliances to RC: dishwasher, washer, dryer, large fridge with freezer, oven, sink and when I wanted a $30.-- door in return or at least a discount on the door, they refused. I will donate all of my kitchen cabinets to someone else. Before the fridge pick-up I broke 3 ribs and they would not help me move the fridge from the 2nd floor - with an elevator and a delivery dolly - to the 1st floor. And I had to specifically ask for a donation slip.

WE LOVE THIS PLACE. The first place we go if we are looking for any unique or basic items for our home.we remodel a lot so we are always looking for variety and this place is amazing. They are so friendly and laid back (we brought all four of our kids the first time and no one minded our 6 & 4 years running around outside). We also really love how this isn’t a thrift store. Items organized amazingly well. We are always impressed. Thanks for being local and awesome!

I’ve loved Resource for years, but lately they seem very unable to do anything useful. I recently offered them pristine materials of substantial value (a few hundreds of dollars). and I was turned away. When I drive through, I see basically nothing of value that they have for sale, and yet they turn away stuff that people could actually use and pay money for. I feel like their commitment to reuse things is completely in the past. I donated years ago and found they would accept usable stuff. That was their whole purpose. And I bought usable stuff there, always in small quantities, not contractor quantities. I loved it. The kinds of things I bought, they no longer seem to accept. When I look at what they’ve got for sale, I’m not real impressed with what they do accept.

Just had a consultation by Resource Central for their Slow the Flow Program. Abigail was our consultant and she was SO wonderful. Very personable and informative and helpful. We had a $500 (!!!) water bill for one month, thanks to the landscaper that adjusted our timers, and she came out and assessed our property and soil and how much our lawn was being watered. She was here for over an hour and was extremely thorough. We have now lowered our consumption by 800 minutes a month. Phew! Also, they are very conscientious about COVID protocols, which we appreciate. Highly recommended!!!

Great source for remodeling on a budget. I have personally made countless quality purchases on everything from upright freezers to modern light fixtures. This place is a junkers paradise. So much fun. You never know what you’ll be leaving with but one thing is for sure ,it will cost penny’s on the dallor.

The Resource Central Sprinkler Consultation Service was incredibly thorough, helpful and eye opening. Our HOA had been on the wait list for a while and it was worth the wait! We received great advice on watering schedule, identifying sprinkler issues in detail and got great recommendations on helping our lawns and plants become healthier and more water efficient. We anticipate our water bill to go down by next year and looking forward to implementing all the recommendations. We recently renovated our kitchen and donated all manner of used cabinets, appliances, etc to Resource. We were so happy to give these items a second life and the donation team was absolutely fantastic to work with from scheduling to pickup to providing us a detailed donation receipt. I can't recommend them enough.

I had a lot of questions before and after my purchase. The staff was most attentive, patient and helpful. The plants have really done well for the first year and I'm excite to see what the garden will look like next year. Thank you to everyone who made this a very positive and informative project.
