By far the best hardware store in the bay not because they have anything special or super low prices but becuase the staff. The comfort of helpful friendly staff that are quick to help but also respect you and your space. They have a huge selection of power tools and hand tools thanks again
way better than home depot!! I'm always able to get out the door with whatever miscellaneous thing I need in under 10 minutes because the employees are extremely helpful and knowledgable. Yes, it is more expensive than home depot, but it is so much closer and the employees are actually helpful.
Herman in the paint department really helped me out after I had been turned away at not one but TWO other stores! Thank you for helping me and my kiddo. I’ll come here first next time.
The manager was very patient while helping me. I went to this hardware store with a unique plumbing challenge. Needed hardware and water supply tubing for a commercial ice maker. The existing fittings were male compression. Super patient, excellent customer service, and went way beyond reasonable expectations helping me find what I needed.
The variety is little more constrained because this Ace hardware shop is a little smaller than most of its competitors, even if it has most of the products a homeowner could require. The fact that it typically has what I need makes it a business I frequent despite this The staff is highly approachable, polite, and helpful. Bike racks are just in front of the business, and parking has never been an issue.
Encountered a very misogynistic employee telling me I should get a professional to fix a paint scratch on my car. After I repeatedly said I could do it myself, he finally said maybe I can “since women love to put on nail polish”.

Great neighborhood store for your quick needs/grabs under the DIY umbrella. All of the associates are very welcoming, friendly and helpful! Almost prefer HAH over big box stores like Lowe's or HD.
The location of this place makes the store a bit of a monopoly for most of Palo alto, Stanford, and surrounding communities, or at least for those of us whose main transportation is not a car.
This factor magnifies any of the customer-unfriendly decisions and policies this store may take, and not price matching their own online listings is one of these decisions.
I headed to the store to buy a specific item that they had in stock at a slightly higher price than Home Depot. I chose to ride my scooter instead of driving my car to the slightly farther away Home Depot, because environment.
However, when I got to Ace, I saw that their in-store price was higher than online, and quite a bit more expensive than the Home Depot listing. I asked the staff to price match their own website, but they refused. Which made me order the item I needed online just to pick it up right back there a few minutes later.
Such an asinine rule serves only to be inconvenient for the customer, and doesn't save anybody any money or time. Get better, Ace.
Outstanding ! The staff is very friendly and glad to help and answer any questions store abundantly stocked Dynamite location to get anything you want whether a little tiny bolt or screw, major home repair needs , or even hobby metals ! The Place to go !
I love this place and the staff are eager to be helpful, but they get deliveries as early as 5am on some days. This not only wakes up neighbors in all of the surrounding apartments, but is also a violation of allowed delivery times (after 6am). Not a very neighborly thing to do.
Trying to love this place but always short staffed 2 cashiers 15+ in line no manager to be found! Just frustrating trying to come here but turning into HD. Sad because we shop continuously at Ace in Modesto and let me tell you best experiences ever !! I don’t go anywhere else! friendly, well staffed and super knowledgeable!
Fantastic store. They have everything from bundt pans to power tools to every type of tubing (well organized!) and tools you could need. A true gem of Palo Alto. Staff is kind and helpful.
The customer service at this ACE is amazing! Was having a difficult time getting two bolts off the hardtop of my girlfriend’s Jeep which would have ruined our plans for the day, but my man Alex came to the rescue and was able to help me get them greased and off.
This Ace hardware store is a bit smaller than most of its counterparts, so while it has most items a homeowner might need, the selection is a little more limited. Nevertheless, it's a store I frequent often because it carries what I need most of the time anyway. The employees are very helpful, friendly and accessible. Parking has never been a problem, and there are bike racks located directly in front of the store.

I come here almost daily to collect supplies and inspiration as part of my design work at IDEO. Great variety and inventory of useful and interesting components and tools. To be honest, a good majority of inventions as part of my work begin as a stuff bought from Ace that are hacked together. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Free popcorn on Sundays, I believe. Great neighborhood shop all around!
Very helpful person floating around the store today, he helped procure the right parts i needed and obviously new his way around the store. The counter person was great too, needed some white marking paint & never hesitated in running over there to help with too. Overall 5 stars for customer service and parts in stock.
Brought a light to be fixed that had a big magnifier Lens. This place when they found out that the light couldn't be fixed, so they threw away lamp with lens. Now this light w/lens cost over $300.00, it would have been nice if this place would have given this lens back to the customer. But NO... SOMEONE TOSSED IT.
Friendly helpful staff. Very well stocked. They make it a point to lead you exactly to where you can find what you are looking for. A much better experience than big box home improvement store where I have found it hard to find somebody to help. I always come here first for my hardware needs. I only go to the big box stores if Bassett doesn't have what I need which is not that often.

This hardware store has a friendly, helpful staff with an incredible range of products. I only discovered it recently but it has become the first place I shop for all such needs. Even after eight or so visits I always leave in good spirits. Gratitude to the owners and staff for the way they enrich our community.
A lot of other retail stores can learn from Hassett Ace: it's the friendliest place with happy, helpful employees. It's almost like going back in time of mom-and-pop stores where the owners knew their customers and took the time to serve them well. Although it's not as big as a Home Depot or Lowes, I'm always able to find whatever I come in for.
This place is really great. I've spent many hours of my life standing in the aisles of a Home Depot or OSH, pondering to myself whether some random tool or part would work for my project, and having discovered this local hardware store, I realized that it doesn't have to be like that. Their staff is extremely knowledgable and helpful, and they help you find solutions to problems. You don't have to hunt them down like Pokemon, they come and find you, and ask how they can help. How novel. The more I go here, the less pleasant I find Home Depot.
A much better experience than going to Home Depot. The employees here care about you and help you find what you need. I needed some glass cut for a small window at home. I was able to find an employee fast and he immediately helped me. I'm also amazed how many items this store has in it. I've actually found a few items here that the Home Depot didn't carry.
Came in for a Chain (for a chainsaw) , 2 gentlemen helped me and searched for the right one, took out a couple and ensure I had the right chain. Both gentlemen, as well as the cashiers were all really helpful, polite and very friendly. No waiting more than the necessary, no problems with my transaction. Definitely recommend this store.
The best run business in town. Amazing. I love coming in here. I brought in a toy guitar and asked for epoxy. They ***fixed the guitar*** and then sold me the epoxy he used to fix it! Never go to Home Depot anymore! Kudos to Hassett Hardware!
