My car is currently being worked on at Palo Alto Bimmer, and while the experience started off positively, it's become frustrating. The staff has been professional and respectful, and I appreciated that they provided a clear and fair quote before doing any work. Communication has been polite throughout, and I never felt pressured. However, the major issue is with timing. I dropped my car off at 8 AM and was told it would be ready later that same day, around 5-6 PM. Later on, I received a call saying they didn't have the necessary part, and now the repair might not be completed until Tuesday -- and it's currently Thursday. That's a significant delay compared to what was promised. On top of that, if I decided to stop the repair process now and take the car elsewhere, I would still have to pay for the labor already done, which means l'd essentially be paying twice if I brought it back later. I understand parts can be delayed, but I would have appreciated more transparency or a realistic timeline upfront. While they seem honest and courteous overall, the miscommunication and unexpected delay have made this a disappointing experience. I'd recommend confirming part availability and timing clearly before committing to service here.
I’ve been a customer for almost 10 years and have left happy every time. They offer the same quality of service that a dealership would with a fraction of the cost. I''ve had several BMW models, mostly X5's, and this shop is the most honest, fair priced, efficient and friendly Bimmer service and repair place in the Bay. Mike is always helpful and provides good advice, while doing only what's needed and no more. This is a dealer-level shop without the dealer prices.
They were kind and gave me drop to hertz near by. Quick estimate for parts which I assumed included labor. So I got surprised when picking up vehicle. Overall great experience.
I've been taking my 2004 330i ZHP to Mike and the team for over 10 years. In my experience, a good mechanic is extraordinarily hard to find on the peninsula, and even though I've moved a 40-minute drive away and can do a lot of routine maintenance myself, I keep coming back to Palo Alto Bimmer for the transparency, professionalism, and turnaround times.
Ah the joys of owning an older Bimmer! I had an issue with the drain plug on the oil pan and faced having to fork over $$$$ for the replacement of the whole thing. I needed to balance my car tires pressure and Jose, one of the people in the team, found a nail in tire and fixed it with no cost. Jose is a professional mechanic and considering his age, he is skillful. Very kind person!

Fantastic service. My wife and I had a sudden and dramatic radiator leak. We had an urgent appointment to get to. Mike the owner and John the mechanic were incredibly accommodating and kind. Jumped right on the problem. Very generous and professional. What great service. Absolutely the top recommendation from me!
I have a 07 335i, it wasn’t making boost, brought it in and they told me I needed a new front turbo, and it would cost $5000-$7000 depending on what parts I chose to use.
I just had the car fixed @ BMW of Mountain View, they said the front turbo is fine, and that it looked like someone had deliberately unplugged a few things to try to cause problems and upcharge me.
All in all, the car only needed a valve cover gasket, and those vacuum lines and other hoses plugged back in.
Avoid this shop like the plague.
Mike and his team recently repaired our 2005 2005 Mini Cooper S, which had a failed alternator, a dying battery, front brakes and several oil leaks. On completion, the car not only ran like new, but they also delivered it freshly washed and detailed. We've never had service this good in the 18 years we've had it. Palo Alto Bimmer is # 1 for our car's needs.
Mike and Palo Alto Bimmer really saved the day! My daughter and I were on a road trip, getting ready to drive back to Los Angeles, when our car started making a high pitched sound from the engine. We took it to the BMW dealer and they didn't know what the sound was and said we would have to leave it overnight before they could tell us the problem. We drove to a nearby mechanic that specializes in German cars, and they weren't sure what it was and were too busy to start on it until the next day. So we called around, only to be told we couldn't be seen until the next day or 2 days later. Then we called Palo Alto Bimmer. Mike answered the phone, and we explained that we wanted to drive to LA but there was this high pitched sound, so he said to bring the car right over. In about 10 seconds, Mike knew what the problem was, said he had to order a part and it would be done by noon Wednesday, but would try his best to get it done Tuesday afternoon. (We brought it in at about 3p Monday.) Sure enough, the car was done the next day at 2:30p and we were on the road to LA, and got home safely. Thank you so much! We highly recommend Palo Alto Bimmer!

My wife and I are in town with a newborn in the nearby hospital. We decided to head home to see our 2 year old for Halloween weekend. I was already due for service when we had to suddenly head this way. I didn't want to do the 1300 mile round trip without getting service done so I called Wednesday just before closing to see if there was any chance of getting in Thursday or Friday. I was told to drop off the car the next morning. At drop-off I was told it would be done by 1. I came back right at 1 and sure enough it was ready. Everything was super easy and I am totally content with the experience. One minor headache avoided with all the things going on. Much appreciated.

Palo Alto dimmers referred to me by a local dealership as a good source to go to if I need a service. I place the phone call to them to provide service to my 2011 328i. The service I was looking for was a transmission oil and filter change and or a replacement of a seat map sensor in the same vehicle.
After giving him my VIN number they said they would be looking up the information on which transmission the vehicle had and they would do a little research on the seat map sensor. They mentioned after they perform their research they wouldcontact me to follow up on pricing and availability. After a week went by and no follow-up, I gave my service to another shop.
Can't say enough about the quality of service and work from Mike and his team. I've been going to PA bimmer for over a decade, and will not take my BMWs anywhere else. Their honesty and transparency with their work over the years has given me a great deal of trust in their service, no matter what car/problem I bring in, I'm always confident Mike and his team will get the job done. These guys are top notch. Dropped my old BMW off on short notice to fix some loud noises that started after shipping it cross-country. They diagnosed and solved the problem within a couple hours and had me back on the road the same day. Honest, professional, personable, best auto shop experience I've had. Will definitely be back.
I am writing this specifically because of how everytime I am getting treated by the shop manager, Mike. I have a bmw and Mercedes Benz combined. I bring both of them to this shop. Each time I have to drive 30 minutes to get there. There are multiple reasons that still with long distance , I always prefer to bring my car to this repair shop.
1- Mike is a real genuine person. He is very personable and reliable. I can count on him.
2- These folks put you first. They do not cheat in what they do to save more benefits for themselves. If you have dealt with different mechanics, you know how a mechanic can trick you to do unnecessary stuff to charge you more. These guys have recommended me to do stuff that was just more work for them without charging me.
3- you can rely on them even after you bring out your car from their shop. One time I had an issue and when I brought my car back to them , they checked my car and fix the issue without charging me.
These are the reasons that I recommend this shop to any high end car owner, specifically bmw and mercedes benz owners.

Look no further...you have found your BMW shop. We live in Sacramento and were in town for a family members surgery when our car was damaged and left undriveable. I called Palo alto bummer and explained our situation and was told to bring it in and they would look at it. They were ready for us when we got there despite having 30 +cars there and put it on the rack and diagnosed the problem, for free, and gave us a quote that afternoon. It was fixed in less than a day at the price they quoted. They were professional, nice, and empathetic. They actually asked about our family member several times, and made the car issue a non issue. This is where you should take your car, not only to get your car repaired, which you will , but to do business with good honest people! Thank you Mike and your crew!
Extremely helpful and nice owner. Had an issue with the car in the middle of a busy day, and others showed zero interest in fixing the same day. Called Palo Alto Bimmer, and they not only fixed it immediately within a few minutes, but also refused to charge me anything for it! They have acquired a new customer.

I've been going to Mike for the past 15 years and he's such a legend. Got my first 2nd hand BMW back in 1998 and he's taken care of me since then (bought 2 newer BMWs and take the M3 to him now).
The work here is exceptional. The best thing about Mike is that he tells you what you need to get done and what's nice to get done/if you let it go on for longer, its going to cause problems etc. He even tells you some of the stuff that's nice "don't worry about it for now…." Here he is - a mechanic actually telling you to NOT spend your money.
He's done everything for me - from a service to changing the gearbox, radiator etc. All top notch work and fully guaranteed - but you don't need the guarantee with Mike because it never goes bad!
I go in today to ask him if he can go ahead and top off my washed fluid and change the windshield wipers. He does all that - and gives me an oil change - on the house! He wouldn't take my money.
