Custom framing was fabulous. Tiffany has a great sense of color and style, and she is technically adept. In addition, she is friendly and made the process fun.
I went to San Mateo Michaels because the internet indicated they carry fabric. While they carry a selection of sewing notions and yarn they have no fabric as all.
I went there to buy some thread but they had so many good discounted items, I bought many more things.
Just for belonging to their club you get a 3% discount on anything you buy. Lots of inventory of many categories in the store.
You can also do a self check-out which speeds up departure.
Called to ask which stores have fabric in a roll since not all Michael's have it apparently. The call agent was super rude and unresponsive. It's OK to not know but the attitude the girl had was not right.
I've purchased several custom frames for my art. The staff is knowledgeable and super helpful when Im being indecisive about which mats and frames best complement my work.
Absolutely horrible customer service. I’ve been there 3 times in the past year but since Joann’s closed I had to resort to going to Michael’s. When asking where things like liquid glue were, I was met with an incredibly rude response and a dirty look from one of the employees. She told me and my friend where it was, not before telling it to us like we were stupid. This also happened while making a return, where all the workers were hostile and rude. If you can, don’t come here. Let the store close
This is for their store pick up set up. I ordered something online, got email it was ready, okay so far so good. I get to the store and walk right past the shelf with all the pick up orders. They place it right by the entrance so if you doing know it's there you won'tbsee it and walk right past. I wait in line for a long time, while being ignored by the employees who are busy trying to shuffle everyone to the self checkout kiosks. Finally someone asks me what I want, and directs me to the shelf I already walked past. So then I go back, find a tag for my item cause it's too large to place on the shelf. Go back in line to be ignored again. Finally I just walk behind the counter and start rummaging through their oversized bin before an employee finally noticed me and explained it's in the cabinet next to that one. Way too much time for a simple order, and way too hard o get anyone's attention. If they wanted this pick up system to work they should've thought it through more
I came here to pick up a package that UPS couldn't deliver. I didn't realize that they are a drop off and pick up point until now.
The Michael's store is large, clean, and relatively organized. They have huge selections of all kinds of arts and crafts materials for projects. It looks like they also have a room for art demos and another room set up for a birthday party.
Overall, it was fun browsing through their aisles and thinking of future projects to do!
I never leave bad reviews, but HOW COME a craft store does not have SEQUINS?! Literally, 3 workers help me to find some (they couldn’t), and then we found only 1 box with sequins (which had only one size of sequins also. There was not an option of buying one color or different sizes).
You guys have a lot of glitter, but not sequins…
Today, I gave BestBuy 5 stars, because I met Stephen who helped me order an RF lens for my camera. He was fast and thoughtful about my needs. Thank you Stephen. My previous visit was just 3 stars. Getting help was a challenge and I was miss informed about cash back.1
How can a store be this big and have so little selection? Were they bought by a private equity firm? Half the store is single use party garbage, the employees are hiring or exhausted, and there are more self check outs than registers. The store is a ghost of what Micheals was 5 years ago.
Get your scannable discounts online and use them often at the self check outs. Don't ever pay full retail
Customer service is usually mediocre and it's hard to find an employee when you need one. I've had employees be down right rude at times. Fortunately, the store has great coupons, good deals, and a large variety of affordable(ish) arts and crafts materials.
If one wants a "concentration camp"-style experience while shopping for things that are supposed to be fun (like art supplies), then this is the place to go. I am not, however, into that, and am tired of this store's particularly egregious alarmism. If one enjoys shopping with paranoid masked people, paranoid masked employees, and no access to a public restrooms (even though the majority of shoppers are easily over 60!), then this is also the place for you. It is a well-established fact that the San Francisco Peninsula is a bastion of Leftism, and that the art/craft retail community revels in this. However, Michael's has undeniably demonstrated that mental illness is the over-riding theme of it's corporate policy, and not liberalism.
This store is really big. And they have a wide range of products for craftings and DIYs, from the thing you know to the stuff you don’t even know they exist. I also love that they have self checkout kiosk. Less human interaction!
A Customer Service Associate named "Diego" helped my wife and i with everything we needed at this Michael's location. He has been really respectful and helpful. We will definitely come back at this location due to his work performace and customer service. He should be a shift lead or a supervisor. He has the skills and could set an example towards his Co-workers!
Good, comprehensive selection of craft materials at the ready, especially for school projects. Sometimes things are missing like pumpkin cutting knives even though they have literally everything else for the season including pumpkins!
This is my candy store!!! The staff is friendly and helpful! Yes they can run out of stuff but you can get stuff online. If you are looking for holiday stuff go early before the busy holiday months starts. Lines are long during the weekends but it goes super fast. They try to get as many people at the cash wrap as the can.

One thought comes to mind when entering Michael's: Endless opportunities for the creative artists we ALL are, even if slumbering in deep sleep for decades.
The child in me comes back out, wether I go by myself or with my family. Something for everyone! And I mean Everyone!
When the kids where younger we used to frequent Michael's on a twice a week basis, encouraged by our wonderful schools (Redwood Shores, and it's great many Blue Ribbon awards schools, mine went to one of those.... :-) ) and their love for creativity!!!
On one of such occasions, I managed to "drag" along my "very busy" husband. Reluctantly he entered mumbling something like :" I'm not going to buy anything,....and about an hour later, as the five of us exited, everyone of us carried a Michael's bag. Yes! Even "the one(s)" who weren't going to buy a thing!
Long story short: We love Michael's and you can find us there still quite often. One of my daughters is a second year Art student studying in Chicago. (Currently home...you know)
Michael's has never deviated from the exceptional quality and it's extensive variety of products.
Friendly staff is always available to help you find what you are looking for!

The aisles are wide & clean. All products were put away in their correct, labeled shelves. There was nothing on the floor. The staff were approachable, patient, and helpful. I was given coupons to use for my next time. This is a great store that has everything for the hobbyist and one-time customer.
Have been to this Michaels multiple times, and am always able to get what I’m looking for. Prices are reasonable/on par with what you would find online but definitely a huge win if you use coupons (download the app!!)
They have great decor for every single holiday which are always on sale so you can go big without breaking your budget. Store is super empty on weekdays but can be crowded and have long waits on popular weekends.
Great convenient michaels! It had what I needed! Bought the 5 drawer letterpress actually bought two for the price of one! Great offer and right now they are having a sale at michaels.
